Surface wave dispersion characteristics of a corrugated strip line

Dispersion characteristics of surface wave in a new corrugated strip line with low attenuation in the range from decimetre (ultrashort) to centimeter waves (microwaves) have been studied. The slowing and attenuation of the fundamental mode in the line have been numerically simulated for a broad frequency range using the finite element method.     

Magnetic thickness measurements of weakly magnetic fine-dispersed coatings

A computer model of a weakly magnetic finely dispersed coating is suggested. The magnetic inspection of the thickness of such coatings deposited on nonmagnetic and weakly magnetic bases is substantiated. The effect of the nickel content in the coating on the error of thickness measurement is estimated. It is shown that, at the same average nickel concentration, a nonuniform nickel distribution across the thickness does not affect markedly the informative signal.

On aberrations of eikonal in planar lens antennas

A formula for the eikonal distribution over the surface of a cylindrical dielectric lens with an error on the fourth-order of the displacement of the source from the focus is found. The accuracy of this formula and the first three terms of its expansion in this parameter for describing the eikonal and its aberrations are analyzed. A method for finding the parameters of the optical aplanatic lens (with minimum aberrations) is proposed. An approximate equation of the focal curve is derived.

Analysis of a horn-lens TEM antenna

Matching and radiation characteristics of a horn-lens TEM antenna are studied theoretically and experimentally in an ultra-wide frequency band. Theoretical results are obtained by means of electromagnetic modeling on the basis of the finite-element method. Antennas with different geometries of the lens and different methods of excitation of the TEM horn are considered. Direct excitation by a coaxial line and excitation with the use of a smooth transition from a coaxial line to a stripline are studied. The results of calculations are compared with experimental results.
