We describe a new modular method for the calculation of wave propagation in stratified media based on the direct use of reflection and transmission coefficients. Within this reflection from the left, transmission, and reflection from the right (LTR) method we define addition and multiplication operators that enable the theoretical construction of any multilayered structures from substructures. This modular concept allows for the design and analysis of complex multilayer structures for optical devices.  相似文献

Using the Foreman effective mass Hamiltonian, the electronic structure of the valence band and the interband dipole matrix elements in In/sub x/Ga/sub 1-x/As-In/sub y/Ga/sub 1-y/As/sub z/P/sub 1-z/ quantum-well optical amplifiers are calculated, taking into account the valence band mixing and the biaxial strain. The optical field of the amplified pulse is calculated by solving the wave equation with the computed polarization as a source term. A novel wavelet transform is introduced in analyzing the pulse chirp imposed by the optical amplifier. In the linear propagation regime, the spectrum of the amplified pulse can be either red-shifted or blue-shifted with respect to its initial center frequency, depending on the local gain dispersion spanned by the pulse spectrum. The output pulse shape can be retarded or advanced, depending on the local gain and group velocity dispersion. Furthermore, an initially unchirped pulse centered in the tail of the gain spectrum is significantly reshaped after propagating 600 /spl mu/m, and its spectrum is broadened and distorted considerably. In the spectral region where both gain and group velocity change rapidly, the frequency chirp for a linearly chirped input pulse is significantly weakened after propagation.  相似文献

The 2019 novel coronavirus, known as severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) or coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), is causing a global pandemic. The virus primarily affects the upper and lower respiratory tracts and raises the risk of a variety of non-pulmonary consequences, the most severe and possibly fatal of which are cardiovascular problems. Data show that almost one-third of the patients with a moderate or severe form of COVID-19 had preexisting cardiovascular comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, hypertension, heart failure, or coronary artery disease. SARS-CoV2 causes hyper inflammation, hypoxia, apoptosis, and a renin–angiotensin system imbalance in a variety of cell types, primarily endothelial cells. Profound endothelial dysfunction associated with COVID-19 can be the cause of impaired organ perfusion that may generate acute myocardial injury, renal failure, and a procoagulant state resulting in thromboembolic events. We discuss the most recent results on the involvement of endothelial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of COVID-19 in patients with cardiometabolic diseases in this review. We also provide insights on treatments that may reduce the severity of this viral infection.  相似文献

Here we present a new approach to overcome the optical diffraction limit by using novel materials. In the paper, we report experimental results obtained by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and optical absorption spectroscopy, for a fluorescent photosensitive glass-ceramic containing rare-earth ions such as samarium (Sm). Using a home built dynamic tester, with a low power laser, we recorded nanostructures having 5 nm line widths. In the line structure, measurements reveal the presence of silver nanocrystals with few nanometre sizes. HRTEM shows that there is a random orientation of the nanocrystals. A writing mechanism with three steps is proposed.  相似文献

The paper presents a robotic method of performing low dose rate prostate brachytherapy under magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guidance. The design and operation of a fully automated MR compatible seed injector is presented. This is used with the MrBot robot for transperineal percutaneous prostate access. A new image-registration marker and algorithms are also presented. The system is integrated and tested with a 3T MRI scanner. Tests compare three different registration methods, assess the precision of performing automated seed deployment, and use the seeds to assess the accuracy of needle targeting under image guidance. Under the ideal conditions of the in vitro experiments, results show outstanding image-guided needle and seed placement accuracy.  相似文献

Summary Heinrich Hertz described the Newton's Lex tertia, which assumes the instantaneous reaction to a given action, as questionable. In the present paper one derives the general actio-reactio relationship under the assumption of the finite propagation speed of any type of interaction. In the derivation of the actio-reactio equations the mathematical theory of inertia developed by the author is systematically used. As an application, the established theory is applied to performe computations concerning the formation of the solar system.  相似文献

We present a generic technique allowing size-based all-optical sorting of gold nanoparticles. Optical forces acting on metallic nanoparticles are substantially enhanced when they are illuminated at a wavelength near the plasmon resonance, as determined by the particle's geometry. Exploiting these resonances, we realize sorting in a system of two counter-propagating evanescent waves, each at different wavelengths that selectively guide nanoparticles of different sizes in opposite directions. We validate this concept by demonstrating bidirectional sorting of gold nanoparticles of either 150 or 130 nm in diameter from those of 100 nm in diameter within a mixture.  相似文献
