The stability of austenite in a number of Fe–Mn–Si-based shape memory alloys has been investigated. It was found that a grain boundary precipitate of BCC structure is formed over a wide range of alloy compositions and heat treatment temperatures. This grain boundary phase has been identified as the chi (χ) phase. Although up to 3 vol.% of the grain boundary precipitate was generated by isothermal aging in the range 500–800 °C, it was found not to markedly affect the mechanical properties or the shape memory effect. Nano-indentation indicated that the hardness and strength of the parent and precipitate phase are very similar, as are their compositions. 相似文献

Force measurement in friction stir welding (FSW) provides a significant insight into the process in terms of machine and tool limitations and design. In the present research the tool forces were investigated experimentally using a rotating component dynamometer and through the development of a finite element model. The model correlated well with experimental temperatures and tool forces and was capable of predicting tool forces for different welding parameters, predicting regions were tool failure is likely to occur and identifying tool pin designs which can process the workpiece more efficiently. 相似文献

The microstructures of two representative high-palladium dental alloys, a Pd–Cu–Ga alloy and a Pd–Ga alloy, which had been subjected to cyclic fatigue in uniaxial tension were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Two different mechanisms were found to dominate microplastic deformation during fatigue: twinning in the Pd–Cu–Ga alloy, and planar slip of dislocations in the Pd–Ga alloy. In addition, stress-induced precipitation occurred in the Pd–Ga alloy during cyclic loading. Heat treatment simulating the firing cycles for dental porcelain resulted in the formation of a previously unreported bcc phase in the Pd–Cu–Ga alloy, and in the elimination of the characteristic tweed structure found in the Pd–Ga alloy for the as-cast condition. 相似文献

Many analysis models utilize finite elements of reduced dimension. However, to capture stress concentrations at local details,
it would be desirable to combine the reduced dimensional element types with higher dimensional elements in a single finite
element model. It is therefore important in such cases to integrate into the analyses some scheme for coupling the element
types that conforms to the governing equations of the problem. In this paper, a novel method that can correctly couple beams
to solids, beams to shells and shells to solids for elastic problems is presented. The approach adopted is to equate the work
done on either side of the interface between dimensions, and this leads to multi-point constraint equations, thus providing
a relationship among nodal degrees of freedom between the differing element types. Example results show that the proposed
technique does not introduce any spurious stresses at the dimensional interfaces.

The thermal properties (heat capacity, thermal diffusivity, and electrical resistivity) of a Cu + 10 wt% Sn alloy in both solid and liquid phases have been reported. Using these values it was confirmed that the Lorenz relation is suitable for obtaining thermal conductivity from electrical resistivity in the liquid phase of this alloy. Also, the temperature differential (d/dT) obtained from such an approach was in excellent agreement with the thermal conductivity values calculated from thermal diffusivity. 相似文献

Photoreceptor synapses in Xenopus retina were studied after exposure to day/night cycles and continuous light or dark. In the rods, dense-core vesicles appear alongside the synaptic ribbons in animals exposed to light. In dark-adapted rods, electron-dense material is present in the synaptic clefts, but no dense-core vesicles are found associated with the synaptic ribbons. Cone photoreceptors do not show these ultrastructural changes in response to light and dark. Prolonged exposure to light (21 days) causes flattening of the synaptic vesicles associated with the synaptic ribbons in both rods and cones. The results are discussed in the light of what is known about transmitter release from photoreceptors. 相似文献

This paper initially considers heat generation in single-point metal cutting and the direct/indirect techniques employed to measure cutting temperatures. The development of analytical models of the cutting process is briefly reviewed, including more recent work involving finite element (FE) methods. Details are given of the different FE packages and formulation methods used by different researchers. Following on from this, an FE model is presented using FORGE 2® to simulate cutting forces and temperature distributions when orthogonal turning a hardened hot work die steel, AISI H13 (52HRC), with polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) tooling. Experimental data from infrared chip surface temperature measurements and cutting force output are used to validate the model. Good correlation was obtained between experimental and modelled results for temperature; however, the FE analysis underestimated feed force results due to a lack of adequate workpiece property data and simplistic tool/chip friction assumptions. 相似文献

The authors present a case report involving an adolescent with trichotillomania who was treated with paroxetine. A significant reduction in symptoms was apparent after two weeks of treatment. Dose was gradually increased to 30 mg of paroxetine per day, which was well tolerated without any significant adverse events. The authors discuss potential treatment implications of this case. 相似文献
