The worldwide proliferation of fraudulent materials has brought about the need for a new approach to the control of purchased material quality. Nuclear power, defense, aerospace and many other industries are affected by the supply of poor quality clones that presume to be original replacement parts. Safety considerations abound as these highly defective materials are used in systems that are critical to the preservation of human lives. Commonly utilized quality assurance programs have not effectively stopped the influx of fraudulent materials. These programs fail to concentrate inspection efforts on materials and inspection attributes that would effectively prevent the acceptance of fraudulent materials. herein a solution is presented to this problem in the form of an expert system application. Information commonly available in industry is formulated into a knowledge based system wherein advisories are given to the user regarding key purchased material receipt inspection strategies.  相似文献

This paper presents a Knowledge-based system (KBS) developed to allow users, who may not be knowledgeable about sensors, to select sensors suitable for their specific needs. The KBS runs on a micro-computer. The selection criteria are user specified and are based on the desired measurement parameters. Covariance structures analysis is often used in nursing research to appraise statistical models reflecting complex human health processes. The model selection approach in covariance structures analysis is designed to select the "best" model from a specified set of theoretically defensible, competing alternatives, all of which are viewed as approximations. Model selection criteria explicitly incorporate both model misfit in the population and sampling error to evaluate the set of models. The result is that interpretability of model parameters and goodness-of-fit are enhanced simultaneously. Relative merits of the model selection approach are identified in light of technical concerns, parsimony, and use of scientific theory in nursing.  相似文献

The identification and production of recombinant morphogens and growth factors that play key roles in tissue regeneration have generated much enthusiasm and numerous clinical trials, but the results of many of these trials have been largely disappointing. Interestingly, the trials that have shown benefit all contain a common denominator, the presence of a material carrier, suggesting strongly that spatio-temporal control over the location and bioactivity of factors after introduction into the body is crucial to achieve tangible therapeutic effect. Sophisticated materials systems that regulate the biological presentation of growth factors represent an attractive new generation of therapeutic agents for the treatment of a wide variety of diseases. This review provides an overview of growth factor delivery in tissue engineering. Certain fundamental issues and design strategies relevant to the material carriers that are being actively pursued to address specific technical objectives are discussed. Recent progress highlights the importance of materials science and engineering in growth factor delivery approaches to regenerative medicine.  相似文献

The use of strip-fed cavity-backed slots is an attractive approach for compact conformal antenna arrays. This configuration also offers greater potential than traditional designs for additional antenna functions demanded by high-performance system requirements. As with previous approaches, it is desirable to avoid costly, time-consuming empirical design techniques, which in turn requires highly accurate analytic/numerical models. A full-wave integral equation analysis is presented, which by using the dyadic Green's functions for multilayered substrates, models this array element with a high degree of accuracy. Using a previously presented Green's function for a grounded slab, the analysis also accounts for dielectric-covered slots. Comparisons are made with measurements to validate the results  相似文献

The effect of structural parameters on the transport characteristics from 15 to 300 K of molecular beam epitaxy-grown InGaAs/InAlAs two dimensional electron gas structures lattice-matched to InP is determined. The InAlAs buffer layer thickness was varied from 1000 to 10,000Å. One sample also incorporated a InGaAs/InAlAs superlattice. The buffer layer thickness and structure had almost no effect on the mobility or sheet density. The InAlAs spacer layer was varied from 25 to 200Å. Increases in the InAlAs spacer thickness resulted in a monotonically decreasing sheet density and a peak in the mobility versus spacer thickness at 100Å. The highest 77 K mobility was 66,700 cm2/V/sds withN D =1.2×1012 cm?2. The effect of illumination and temperature on the sheet concentration in these structures as well as on “bulk” InAlAs:Si was much smaller than in Al x Ga1?x As/GaAs structures or “bulk” Al x Ga1?x As, forx?0.30, indicating that devices based on this material system will not be characterized by many of the device instabilities observed in the AlGaAs/GaAs system.  相似文献
