Application-level performance is a key to the adoption and success of the CDMA 2000. To predict this performance in advance, a detailed end-to-end simulation model of a CDMA network is built to include application traffic characteristics, network architecture, network element details using the proposed simulation methodology. We assess the user-perceived application performance when a RAN and a CN adopt different transport architectures such as ATM and IP. To evaluate the user-perceived quality of voice service, we compare the end-to-end packet delay for different vocoder schemes such as G.711, G.726 (PCM), G.726 (ADPCM), and vocoder bypass scheme. By the simulation results, the vocoder bypass scenario shows 30% performance improvement over the others. We also compare the quality of voice service with and without DPS scheduling scheme. We know that DPS scheme keep the voice delay bound even if the service traffic is high. For data packet performance, HTTP v.1.1 shows better performance than that of HTTP v.1.0 due to the pipelining and TCP persistent connection. We may conclude that IP transport technology is better solution for higher FER environment since the packet overhead of IP is smaller than that of ATM for web browsing data traffic, while it shows opposite effect to the small size voice packet in RAN architecture. We show that the 3G-1X EV-DO system gives much better packet delay performance than 3G-1X RTT. The main conclusion is that end-to-end application-level performance is affected by various elements and layers of the network and thus it must be considered in all phases of the development process. Jae-Hyun Kim He received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, all in computer science and engineering, from Hanyang University, Ansan, Korea, in 1991, 1993, and 1996 respectively. In 1996, he was with the Communication Research Laboratory, Tokyo, Japan, as a Visiting Scholar. From April 1997 to October 1998, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the department of electrical engineering, University of California, Los Angeles. From November 1998 to February 2003, he worked as a member of technical staff in Performance Modeling and QoS management department, Bell laboratories, Lucent Technologies, Holmdel, NJ. He has been with the department of electrical engineering, Ajou University, Suwon, Korea, as an assistant professor since 2003. His research interests include QoS issues and cross layer optimization for high-speed wireless communication. Dr. Kim was the recipient of the LGIC Thesis Prize and Samsung Human-Tech Thesis Prize in 1993 and 1997, respectively. He is a member of the Korean Institute of Communication Sciences (KICS), Korea Institute of Telematics and Electronis (KITE), Korea Information Science Society (KISS), and IEEE. Hyun-Jin Lee received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Ajou University, Suwon, Korea, in 2004, and is working toward the M.S. degree and Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering at Ajou University. He has been awarded Samsung Human-Tech Thesis Prize in 2004. His research interests QoS, especially network optimization and wireless packet scheduling. He is a member of the KICS. Sung-Min Oh received the B.S. and M. S. degrees in electrical engineering form Ajou University, Suwon, Korea, in 2004, and is working toward the Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering at Ajou University. His research interests QoS performance analysis and 4G network. He is a member of the KICS. Sung-Hyun Cho received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in computer science and engineering from Hanyang University, Korea, in 1995, 1997, and 2001, respectively. From 2001 to 2005, he has been with Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, where he has been engaged in the design and standardization of MAC and upper layers of B3G, IEEE 802.16e, and WiBro systems. He is currently a MAC part leader in the telecommunication R&D center of Samsung Electronics. His research interests include 4G air interface design, radio resource management, cross layer design, and handoff in wireless systems.  相似文献

GaAs-AlGaAs V-grooved inner stripe (VIS) quantum-well wire (QWW) lasers grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition with different current blocking configurations, n-blocking on p-substrate (VIPS), p-n-p-n blocking on n-substrate (VI(PN)nS) and p-blocking on n-substrate (VINS) have been fabricated and characterized. The VIPS QWW lasers show the most stable characteristics with effective current confinement: one of the lasers shows fundamental transverse mode, lasing up to 5 mW/facet, typical threshold current of 39.9 mA at 818.5 mm, an external differential quantum efficiency of 24%/facet, and characteristic temperature of 92 K. The current tuning rate was almost linear at 0.031 mm/mA, and the temperature tuning rate was measured to be 0.14 nm/°C. The transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) ion channel plays an important role in the peripheral nociceptive pathway. TRPV1 is a polymodal receptor that can be activated by multiple types of ligands and painful stimuli, such as noxious heat and protons, and contributes to various acute and chronic pain conditions. Therefore, TRPV1 is emerging as a novel therapeutic target for the treatment of various pain conditions. Notably, various peptides isolated from venomous animals potently and selectively control the activation and inhibition of TRPV1 by binding to its outer pore region. This review will focus on the mechanisms by which venom-derived peptides interact with this portion of TRPV1 to control receptor functions and how these mechanisms can drive the development of new types of analgesics.  相似文献

We prepared aluminum-zinc-tin-oxide (AZTO) thin films by the solution spin-coating method and investigated their physical and electrical properties according to different incorporated amounts of Al. AZTO films annealed at 400 °C were amorphous. Though SnO2 crystallites were detected in films annealed at temperatures higher than 500 °C, the number of crystallites decreased as the Al content increased. Thin films had a smooth and uniform surface morphology with an optical transmittance value higher than 92% in the visible range. Electrical conductivity and its temperature dependence varied markedly according to the amount of Al incorporated in the film. We therefore systematically investigated activation energies for carrier transport for each film composition. Thin-film transistors (TFTs) were fabricated using solution-processed AZTO as an active channel layer. The effects of the amount of Al incorporated in the thin film on TFT characteristics were also evaluated. The best device performance was observed for a TFT with a 5 mol%-Al-incorporated AZTO channel. Field effect mobility, subthreshold swing, and on/off ratio were approximately 0.24 cm2 V−1 s−1, 0.69 V/dec, and 1.03×106, respectively.  相似文献

To clarify the effect of chemical structure of Dimethyl ether(DME) on NOx formation in nonpremixed counterflow flame, DME flame was investigated numerically to compare the flame structures and NOx emissions with C2H6 and Mixed-fuel. Numerically, the governing equations were solved using the Oppdif code coupled with CHEMKIN package, and DME flames were calculated by Kaiser’s mechanism, while the C2H6 flames and Mixed-fuel flames were calculated by the C3 mechanism. These mechanisms were combined with the modified Miller-Bowman mechanism for the analysis of NOx. Numerical results of nonpremixed counterflow flames show that the EINO of DME nonpremixed flame is low as much as 50 % of the C2H6 nonpremixed flame. The cause of EINO reduction is attributed mainly to the characteristics of partial premixed flame due to the existence of oxygen atom in DME and partly to the O-C bond in DME, instead of C-C bond in hydrocarbon fuels. Chang-Eon Lee received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Inha University, Korea, in 1983 and 1985, respectively. Then he received his Ph.D. degree from Toyohashi National University of Technology, Japan in 1992. Dr. Lee is currently a Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering at Inha University in Incheon, Korea. He serves as an Editor of the Journal of the Korean society of combustion and serves as an associate Editor of Transactions of the Korean society of mechanical engineers. A phase-change material of Sb/sub 65/Se/sub 35/ was newly proposed for the nonvolatile memory applications. The fabricated phase-change memory device using Sb/sub 65/Se/sub 35/ showed a good electrical threshold switching characteristic in the dc current-voltage (I-V) measurement. The programming time for set operation of the memory device decreased from 1 /spl mu/s to 250 ns when Sb/sub 65/Se/sub 35/ was introduced in place of the conventionally employed Ge/sub 2/Sb/sub 2/Te/sub 5/ (GST). The reset current of Sb/sub 65/Se/sub 35/ device also dramatically reduced from 15 mA to 1.6 mA, compared with that of GST device. These results are attributed to the low melting temperature and high crystallization speed of Sb/sub 65/Se/sub 35/ and will contribute to lower power and higher speed operations of a phase-change nonvolatile memory.  相似文献

Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is rare but serious. It is the most common cause of death from heart disease during the first week of life. With surgical repair or a heart transplant, about 70% of children born with HLHS live for at least 5 years. The purpose of this study is to achieve an optimization of the systemic-topulmonary artery shunt. In this study, computational fluid dynamic (CFD) models were used to determine the velocity profile in a systemic-to-pulmonary artery shunt and we suggest a simplified method of calculating the blood mass flow rate in the shunt based on ultrasound systems. We analyzed the flow characteristic variations and Oscillatory Shear Index (OSI) due to the anastomosis angle and changing shunt diameter.  相似文献
