A nanostructured Pd-Cr catalyst was deposited on a supported carbon surface using the modified borohydride reduction method for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) to be utilized as an efficient catalyst in the proton-exchange membrane fuel cell. The crystal structure and feature nanostructure of the Pd-Cr@carbon were established through the use of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Meanwhile, its catalytic activity was studied using the cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical polarization techniques. Based on the XRD analysis, it was observed that the Pd phase with the fcc crystal structure was dominant, while the Pd-Cr phase with tetragonal crystal structure was detected only for the as-prepared sample and samples calcined at 573 K. The estimated average crystallite size of the Pd phase increased from 9.66 to 37.54 nm as the calcination temperature increased to 973 K, and the calcination time had a slight effect on the crystallite size. On the other side, the average crystallite size for the formed Pd-Cr phase slightly increased from 43.74 nm for the as-prepared sample to 44.90 nm for the sample calcined at 573 K for 3 h. The TEM examination revealed the uniform distribution of the Pd and Pd-Cr nanoparticles upon the carbon surface. The calcination temperature and time played an important role in controlling the structural and morphology parameters of Pd-Cr@carbon. The adsorption/desorption potentials were found to be dependent on the calcination temperature and time and hence the particle and crystallite sizes. The optimum ORR activity and chemical stability were observed for samples calcined at 773 K for 3 h.

Egypt in 2015 announced the alteration of the fuels used in cement plants without the least regard to minimizing the environmental burden (EB) excesses. This study conducts a life-cycle assessment (LCA) of Egyptian cement-manufacturing unit, which is considered as the first one on LCA cement analysis to be conducted in Egypt. This study investigates the LCA of the cement industry in Egypt compared to the Swiss industry, using two methodologies. The first one has been done on-site, surveying the most common types of cement used in the construction industry in Egypt. Meanwhile, SimaPro software has been used to assess the environmental impacts, and three different cement plants were selected for this study: an Egyptian cement plant (ECP) which uses electricity, natural gas, and diesel as energy sources; a Swiss cement plant (SCP) which depends mainly on electricity, natural gas, and coal; and an Egyptian hypothetical plant (EHP) in which electricity and coal are assumed to be the main energy feeds, and comparisons of different strategies including midpoint and endpoint methods are outlined. Regarding the midpoint method, ETP recorded higher respiratory inorganics, aquatic acidification, global warming, and nonrenewable energy impacts than ECP, because of using coal, while for SCP, global warming and respiratory inorganics achieved the highest adverse impacts compared to ECP and EHP—due to the different manufacturing technology used. With regard to the endpoint method, the peak possibility of human health deterioration has been recorded due to the use of coal as fuel. This possibility was reduced by 46 % in the case of SCP as a result of the technology applied, which interestingly represents a reasonable reduction in terms of technological application.  相似文献

Two series of diquaternary cationic surfactants designated as E9Nm and E11Nm having two different alkyl chains in their chemical structure were synthesized. The chemical structures of these surfactants were confirmed using elemental analysis, FTIR and 1H‐NMR spectra. The surface activities of the different surfactants were determined using surface and interfacial tension at 25 °C. The surface parameters including: critical micelle concentration, effectiveness, efficiency, maximum surface excess and minimum surface area were determined. The surface activities of the cationic surfactants were correlated with their chemical structure. The surface activities of the surfactants increased with increasing the hydrophobic chain length. The adsorption and micellization tendencies of the surfactants in solution were determined using the free energies of adsorption and micellization. The synthesized surfactants were evaluated as biocides against bacteria and fungi. Biocidal activity data showed that a gradual increase in the hydrophobic chain length of the surfactant molecules gradually increases the efficiency of these surfactants as biocides.  相似文献

Phenacylmalononitriles 2 react with hydrazines, acetic-hydrochloric acid and with diazotised primary aromatic amines to afford phenacylpyrazole ( 5a,b ), aminofurans ( 6a,b ) and aminopyrazole derivatives ( 3a,d ) respectively. The synthesised derivatives ( 3d, 6a ) were the key materials for the synthesis of isoindolinedione, ( 7a – c ) pyrazolopyrimidine ( 9, 10 ), and pyrazolopyridazine derivatives ( 11 ). The structures of the newly synthesised heterocycles were established on the basis of elemental analyses and spectral data besides synthesis via other routes.  相似文献

Four Gemini surfactants were synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The synthesized compounds were evaluated as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in 0.5 M HCl solution. The inhibition efficiencies of the tested inhibitors were depended on the hydrophobic chain length and the used doses of the inhibitors. The polarization measurements showed that these inhibitors are acting as mixed inhibitors for both anodic and cathodic reactions. The results showed that the inhibition efficiencies were increased by increasing the inhibitor doses and the hydrophobic chain length and reached the maximum at 500 ppm by weight for stearyl derivative. The efficiencies obtained from the impedance measurements were in good agreement with those obtained from the gravimetrical and polarization techniques which prove the validity of these tolls in the measurements of the tested inhibitors.  相似文献

This paper presents numerical results calculated by the extended field method for the problem of the forced harmonic vibration of two plates—one rectangular and one triangular. The numerical results demonstrate that the extended field method, which is a deflection-based series solution method, is capable of producing converged stress solutions suitable for being bases of comparison for other approximate methods of analysis.  相似文献

Four eco‐friendly nonionic surfactants based on vanillin were investigated as corrosion inhibitors against carbon steel dissolution during the drilling process in the oil field. The corrosion inhibition efficiencies of the tested compounds were determined using weight loss, electrochemical polarization, and electrochemical impedance techniques. The data obtained show that the nonionic surfactants prevent the corrosion of drilling tools and their inhibition efficiency increased with an increase in their concentration. Tafel curves revealed that the surfactants under study act as mixed inhibitors. The adsorption of the inhibitors on carbon steel surface decreases the double‐layer capacitance. The inhibition efficiencies of the surfactants were influenced by their chemical structure and surface activity.  相似文献

Surface properties of polyvinyl alcohol (nonionic polymer) and three synthesized cationic surfactants, namely, S‐alkyl isothiouronium bromide at different mole fractions of 1:9, 3:7, 5:5, 7:3, and 9:1, were investigated. The values of the surface parameters were discussed according to the type of interaction between the cationic surfactant and type of polymer studied. The S‐alkyl isothiouronium bromide surfactant molecules are positively charged molecules, and the PVA chains contain hydroxyl groups that are partially negatively charged centers. The comparison between the surface properties of the individual cationic surfactants and their mixture with PVA polymer showed that the mixed systems have some advantages over the individual cationic surfactants.  相似文献

Five different compositions of K x V 2 O 5 ·nH 2 O(where x=0.00,0.0017,0.0049,0.0064 and 0.0091 mol) were prepared by the sol-gel process.Electrical conductivity and thermoelectric power were measured parallel to the substrate surface in the temperature range of 300-480 K.The electrical conductivity showed that all samples were semiconductors and that conductivity increased with increasing K content.The conductivity of the present system was primarily determined by hopping carrier mobility.The carrier density was evaluated as well.The conduction was confirmed to obey non-adiabatic small polaron hopping.The thermoelectric power or Seebeck effect,increased with increasing K ions content.The results obtained indicated that an n-type semiconducting behavior within the temperature range was investigated.  相似文献

This study evaluated the biochemical, molecular, and histopathological mechanisms involved in the hypoglycaemic effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) in experimental diabetic rats. ZnONPs were prepared by the sol–gel method and characterised by scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM). To explore the possible hypoglycaemic and antioxidant effect of ZnONPs, rats were grouped as follows: control group, ZnONPs treated group, diabetic group, and diabetic + ZnONPs group. Upon treatment with ZnONPs, a significant alteration in the activities of superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and the levels of insulin, haemoglobin A1c, and the expression of cluster of differentiation 4+ (CD4+), CD8+ T cells, glucose transporter type‐4 (GLUT‐4), tumour necrosis factor, and interleukin‐6 when compared to diabetic and their control rats. ZnONPs administration to the diabetic group showed eminent blood glucose control and restoration of the biochemical profile. This raises their active role in controlling pancreas functions to improve glycaemic status as well as the inflammatory responses. Histopathological investigations showed the non‐toxic and therapeutic effect of ZnONPs on the pancreas. TEM of pancreatic tissues displayed restoration of islets of Langerhans and increased insulin‐secreting granules.
