With the goal to produce a hard and tough coating intended for tribological applications, CrAlN/TiSiN nanolayer coating was prepared by alternative deposition of CrAlN and TiSiN layers. In the first part of the article, a detailed study of phase composition, microstructure, and layer structure of CrAlN/TiSiN coating is presented. In the second part, its mechanical properties, fracture and tribological behavior are compared to the nanocomposite TiSiN coating. An industrial magnetron sputtering unit was used for coating deposition. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy were used for compositional and microstructural analysis. Mechanical properties and fracture behavior were studied by instrumented indentation and focused ion beam techniques. Tribological properties were evaluated by ball-on-disk test in a linear reciprocal mode. A complex layer structure was found in the nanolayer coating. The TiSiN layers were epitaxially stabilized inside the coating which led to formation of dislocations at interfaces, to introduction of disturbances in the coating growth, and as a result, to development of fine-grained columnar microstructure. Indentation load required for the onset of fracture was twice lower for the nanolayer CrAlN/TiSiN, compared to the nanocomposite TiSiN coating. This agrees very well with their mechanical properties, with H3/E2 being twice higher for the TiSiN coating. However, the nanolayer coating experienced less severe damage, which had a strong impact on tribological behavior. A magnitude of order lower wear rate and four times lower steady state friction coefficient were found for the nanolayer coating.  相似文献

A 78-year-old Chinese woman presented with recurrent postprandial abdominal pain. Computerised tomography revealed a small bowel tumour causing volvulus of a segment of the small bowel. Laparotomy confirmed an extraluminal ileal tumour with partial volvulus of the involved small bowel segment. Small bowel resection was done. Histological and ultrastructural studies confirmed a gastrointestinal autonomic nerve tumour. We review the medical literature on this rare tumour.  相似文献

Autologous transplantation has been used increasingly over the last 10 years for the treatment of multiple myeloma. As is the case in other cancers treated by high-dose therapy and stem cell rescue, the contribution of occult tumor cells in the graft to relapse posttransplant remains to be resolved. Ductile Phase Toughened Brittle Materials   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
Toughening of brittle materials by the inclusion of ductile phases is governed by several important factors which include ceramic-ductile phase interfacial bond strength, physical and chemical compatibility between ceramic and ductile phase, geometry and mechanical properties of ductile phase. The present understanding of the effect of these factors on toughening is reviewed and clarified. Continuous ductile phases (network, fibre or plate) are found to be more efficient for the toughening of brittle materials than discrete ductile particles. However, ductile particle toughened brittle materials have the advantages of material homogeneity isotropy and particularly better high temperature properties. It has been demonstrated that the influence of interfacial bond strength is determined by the geometry of the ductile phase in the composites. For the comparatively continuous ductile phase, such as ductile network, fibre or plate, comparatively weak inteffocial bond strength can promote partial debonding of the brittle matrix-ductile phase intedece during crack propagation and is beneficial for toughening. For discrete particulate ductile phase toughened brittle materials, the small gauge length of the ductile phase often results in the ductile phase pull-out during crack propagation which is the main limitation to toughening.Thus strong bond strength is required to ensure the bridging of the crack by the ductile phase.The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) mismatch between matrix and ductile phase has also been correlated with the geometry of the ductile phase. In most of the ceramic/metal systems,the CTE of the ductile metal phase is greater than that of the ceramic matrix. In the case of ductile network, fibre or plate, the residual stress created by the CTE mismatch can contribute to toughening through its influence on the initial crack opening stress while the bridging of the crack by the ductile phase is still ensured. However, for discrete ductile particles, the residual stress created by CTE mismatch is liable to cause cracks to by-pass the spherical particles, limiting the efficient use of the inherent toughness of the ductile phase. Low-modulus ductile inclusions are beneficial for the bridging of cracks by the ductile phase. Softer, more ductile inclusions are more effective for the toughening of brittle materials by particulate ductile phase  相似文献

Network survivability is a key concern in today's network, and will become increasingly important in future optical networks as they carry ever more traffic. Networks are also becoming more complex, with the requirement for increased functionality. Currently, there is a lack of understanding in the industry as to the exact relationship between the choice of network architecture and the meeting of a set availability objective. This paper analyses a number of long-haul network architectures from an unavailability point of view. The long-haul networks analyzed include: networks with diversity, networks with restoration capability, and networks with survivability. Derivations are given for each architecture; formulas for 2 and 4-fiber rings, and dual fed routing are new. A hypothetical reference connection (HRX) and its unavailability objectives are used as references. Networks with restoration capability and networks with survivability meet the proposed objective. Self-healing rings (both 2 and 4-fiber bidirectional line switched rings) and dual fed systems offer the highest level of survivability, by eliminating service impacts caused by cable cuts and equipment failures  相似文献

Saccharomyces cerevisiae present in common Baker’s yeast was used in a microbial fuel cell in which glucose was the carbon source. Methylene blue was used as the electronophore in the anode compartment, while potassium ferricyanide and methylene blue were tested as electron acceptors in the cathode compartment. Microbes in a mediator-free environment were used as the control. The experiment was performed in both open and closed circuit configurations under different loads ranging from 100 kΩ to 400Ω. The eukaryotic S. cerevisiae-based fuel cell showed improved performance when methylene blue and ferricyanide were used as electron mediators, rendering a maximum power generation of 146.71±7.7 mW/m3. The fuel cell generated a maximum open circuit voltage of 383.6±1.5 mV and recorded a maximum efficiency of 28±1.8 % under 100 kΩ of external load.  相似文献

In a companion paper [M. L. Liu and C. W. S. To, Comput. Struct. 54, 1031–1056 (1995)] theories and incremental formulation of nonlinear shell structures discretized by the finite element method are discussed. The updated Lagrangian formulation and the incremental Hellinger-Reissner variational principle are adopted. The independently assumed fields employed are the incremental displacements and incremental strains. Based on the theory and incremental formulation explicit element stiffness and mass matrices of three node flat triangular shell finite elements are derived. In the present paper the derived element matrices are applied to nine examples. The latter include static and dynamic response analysis of shell structures with geometrical, material, and geometrical and material nonlinearities. The formulation adopted and element matrices derived are found to be accurate, flexible and applicable to various types of shell structures with geometrical and material nonlinearities.  相似文献
