The cadmium tungstate rods have been given much attention due to their potential for usage in numerous luminescent applications. We have prepared single crystalline Sn-doped Cd1−xSnxWO4 (where x = 0, 1, 3, and 5%) nanorods (NRDs) and characterized them using refined X-ray diffraction and TEM analysis, revealing a monoclinic phase and a crystallite size that decreased from 62 to 38 nm as Sn concentration increased. Precise Sn doping modulation in CdWO4 NRDs causes surface recombination of electrons and holes, which causes the PL intensity to decrease as the Sn content rises. The chromaticity diagram shows that an increase in the Sn content caused a change in the emission color from sky blue to light green, which was attributed to the increased defect density. The photoluminescence time decay curve of all samples fit well with double-order exponential decay, and the average decay lifetime was found to be 1.11, 0.93, and 1.16 ns for Cd1−xSnxWO4, x = 0, 1, and 5%, respectively. This work provides an understanding of the behavior of Sn-doped CdWO4 NRDs during electron transitions and the physical nature of emission that could be used in bio-imaging, light sources, displays, and other applications.  相似文献

A new scheme for generating high-energy terahertz (THz) pulses based on using a multistep phase mask (MSPM) is suggested and analyzed. The mask is placed on the entrance surface of the nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal eliminating the necessity of the imaging optics. In contrast to the contact grating method, introduction of large amounts of angular dispersion is avoided. The operation principle of the suggested scheme is based on the fact that the MSPM splits a single input beam into many smaller time-delayed “beamlets,” which together form a discretely tilted-front laser pulse in NLO crystal. The analysis of THz-pulse generation in ZnTe and lithium niobate (LN) crystals shows that application of ZnTe crystal is more preferable, especially when long-wavelength pump sources are used. The dimensions of the mask’s steps required for high-energy THz-pulse generation in ZnTe and LN crystals are calculated. The optimal number of steps is estimated, taking into account individual beamlet’s spatial broadening and problems related to the mask fabrication. The proposed method is a promising way to develop high-energy, monolithic, and alignment-free THz-pulse sources.  相似文献

Owing to a pick-up coil's flat design, relatively low MHz-range operation frequency, and six orders relative resolution a flat coil-based tunnel diode oscillator has advantages, compared to all other methods. They become crucial in studies with thin high-Tc superconductivity (HTSC) materials (with small signals), especially at the start of the Cooper pairs’ formation. Due to this the superconductivity precursor ‘paramagnetic’ effect was detected recently in YBaCuO films at N/S transition. It precedes Meissner ejection and specifies details of the shape of the transition curve. We discuss the influence of the currents on this effect, and the relationship between the quality of the material and the shape of the effect. A new imaging device has also been created based on this test method (using a focused He–Ne laser beam as a probing signal), capable of imaging the properties of HTSC films with 3 μm spatial resolution. The method is based on detection of the inductance and Q-factor value changes of a single-layer flat coil, placed at the face of the sample. This leads to frequency and/or amplitude changes of the stable oscillator. The test device enabled 2D-mapping of the grain structure of a bridge-shaped YBaCuO film. Basically, the method is capable of imaging 2D-current distribution in thin HTS with sub-μm spatial-resolution, using non-bolometric response. However, the achieved resolution 3 μm of a bolometric nature (in a given device with 3.5 mm-size coil) by no means is limited by the abilities of the method, but mainly, it depends on how narrowly it is possible to focus the probing beam, while the own resolution of a present flat coil-based technique is better than 0.1 μm, and can be improved essentially by reducing the coil size.  相似文献

Optical tweezers and their various modifications offer a sophisticated way to perform noncontact cell manipulation. In this paper, we quantify forces existing in an elliptical trap formed by two cylindrical lenses and compare the results with a point optical trap case. The trapping efficiency of point and elliptical traps was analyzed by measuring the Q values of both traps. Polystyrene microspheres and red blood cells (RBCs) were used as samples. Stretching of the RBC was taken into account in the Q value measurements. Although the Q value of a point optical trap is larger than that of an elliptical trap when measured for a single RBC, we can manipulate the orientation of an RBC in a point trap with the elliptical trap and can also trap several RBCs simultaneously in the elliptical trap far from the cuvette surfaces by using a long-working-distance water immersion objective. This opens new possibilities for studying light-matter interactions at the cellular level.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a method for human full-body pose estimation from depth data that can be obtained using Time of Flight (ToF) cameras or the Kinect device. Our approach consists of robustly detecting anatomical landmarks in the 3D data and fitting a skeleton body model using constrained inverse kinematics. Instead of relying on appearance-based features for interest point detection that can vary strongly with illumination and pose changes, we build upon a graph-based representation of the depth data that allows us to measure geodesic distances between body parts. As these distances do not change with body movement, we are able to localize anatomical landmarks independent of pose. For differentiation of body parts that occlude each other, we employ motion information, obtained from the optical flow between subsequent intensity images. We provide a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of our pose tracking method on ToF and Kinect sequences containing movements of varying complexity.  相似文献

We studied the effects of parathyroid hormone 10(-9) M) on the contents of mono-, di-, and triglycerides, total phospholipids, and free arachidonic acid in rat brain cortex synaptosomes using [1-(14)C]arachidonic acid at 2, 5, and 10 sec after addition of the hormone. Our data demonstrated the changes in lipid metabolism in synaptosomal membranes which were especially pronounced at 5 sec after addition of parathyroid hormone. Incorporation of 70% of [1-(14)C]arachidonic acid into the phosphoinositide fraction and the progress of changes in lipid metabolite composition suggest that the phosphoinositide cycle is initiated by parathyroid hormone, and the hormonal signal may be subsequently mediated in nerve cells by 1,2-diacylglycerol, a product of the phosphoinositide cycle.  相似文献

Lavash is a traditional flatbread commonly baked at home by women in Armenia and other Middle Eastern and Caucasus countries. The baking process follows centuries' old recipes and is done primarily in open fire ovens. Data are limited regarding the impact of baking on indoor air quality and health outcomes. This study aimed at assessing the effects of lavash baking on household air pollution and cardiovascular outcomes among women who bake lavash in rural Armenia. A convenience sample of 98 bakers, all women, never-smokers, representing 36 households were enrolled. Carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations and carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) levels were monitored before, during, and/or after baking. As expected, exposure to concentrations of CO peaking at/or above 35-ppm during baking was more likely to occur in homes with fully enclosed and poorly ventilated baking rooms, compared to those with three or fewer walls and/or one or more windows. Bakers in homes where CO concentrations peaked at/or above 35-ppm were more likely to have an increase in post-baking COHb levels compared to those in homes with lower CO concentrations.  相似文献
