Energy consumption of block-cutting machines represents a major cost item in the processing of travertines and other natural stones. Therefore, determining the optimum sawing conditions for a particular stone is of major importance in the natural stone-processing industry. An experimental study was carried out utilizing a fully instrumented block-cutter to investigate the sawing performances of five different types of travertine blocks during cutting with a circular diamond saw. The sawing tests were performed in the down-cutting mode. Performance measurements were determined by measuring the cutting speed and energy consumption. Then, specific energy was determined. The one main cutting parameter, cutting speed, was varied in the investigation of optimum cutting performance. Furthermore, some physico-mechanical properties of the travertine blocks were determined in the laboratory. As a result, it is found that the energy consumption (specific energy) of block cutting machines is highly affected by cutting speed. It is determined that specific energy value usually decreases when cutting speed increases. When the cutting speed is higher than the determined value, the diamond saw can become stuck in the travertine block; this situation can be a problem for the block-cutting machine. As a result, the optimum cutting speed obtained for the travertine mines examined is approximately 1.5–2.0 m/min.  相似文献

In the present work, six new kinds of building composite PCMs (BCPCMs), PS/octadecane, BC/octadecane, PS/CA–MA, BC/CA–MA, PS/PEG1000, and BC/PEG1000 composites, were prepared by using vacuum impregnation method. The maximum percent of PCM in the composites was assigned to be 12, 13, 18, 23, 30, and 42 wt%, respectively. The form‐stable BCPCMs were characterized using SEM, FT‐IR, DSC, and TG analysis techniques. The characterization results showed the existence of homogenous dispersion of the PCM into the PBM matrixes. The DSC measurements indicated that the melting temperatures of the form‐stable BCPCMs are in the range of 20–33°C while they have latent heats of melting in the range of about 28–55 J/g. These results make them promising BCPCMs for low temperature‐passive TES applications in buildings. Thermal cycling test indicated that the prepared BCPCMs have good thermal reliability and chemical stability. TG analysis proved that the prepared BCPCMs have good thermal durability. In addition, the thermal conductivity of BCPCMs was enhanced considerably by addition of expanded graphite (EG). The improvement in thermal conductivity of the BCPCMs caused appreciably reduction in their melting times. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Machining of hard materials has become a great challenge for several decades. One of the problems in this machining process is early tool wear, and this affects the machinability of hard materials. In order to increase machinability, cutting tools are widely coated with nanostructured physical vapor deposition hard coatings. The main characteristics of such advanced hard coatings are high microhardness and toughness as well as good adhesion to the substrate. In this paper, the influence of hard coatings (nanolayer AlTiN/TiN, multilayer nanocomposite TiAlSiN/TiSiN/TiAlN, and commercially available TiN/TiAlN) and cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut) on cutting forces and surface roughness were investigated during face milling of AISI O2 cold work tool steel (~61 HRC). The experiments were conducted based on 313 factorial design by response surface methodology, and response surface equations of cutting forces and surface roughness were obtained. In addition, the cutting forces obtained with the coated and uncoated tools were compared. The results showed that the interaction of coating type and depth of cut affects surface roughness. The hard coating type has no significant effect on cutting forces, while the cutting force F z is approximately two times higher in the case of uncoated tool.  相似文献

The development of new binders, as an alternative to traditional cement, by the alkaline activation of industrial by-products (i.e. ground granulated slag and fly ash) is an ongoing research topic in the scientific community [Puertas F, Amat T, Jimenez AF, Vazquez T. Mechanical and durable behaviour of alkaline cement mortars reinforced with polypropylene fibres. Cem Concr Res 2003;33(12): 2031–6]. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of using and alkaline activated ground Turkish slag to produce a mortar without Portland cement (PC).Following the characterization of the slag, mortar specimens made with alkali-activated slag were prepared. Three different activators were used: liquid sodium silicate (LSS), sodium hydroxide (SH) and sodium carbonate (SC) at different sodium concentrations. Compressive and flexural tensile strength of alkali-activated slag mortar was measured at 7-days, 28-days and 3-months. Drying shrinkage of the mortar was measured up to 6-months. Setting times of the alkali-activated slag paste and PC paste were also measured.Setting times of LSS and SH activated slag pastes were found to be much slower than the setting time of PC paste. However, slag paste activated with SC showed similar setting properties to PC paste.LSS, SH and SC activated slag mortar developed 81, 29, and 36 MPa maximum compressive strengths, and 6.8, 3.8, and 5.3 MPa maximum flexural tensile strengths at 28-days. PC mortar developed 33 MPa compressive strength and 5.2 MPa flexural tensile strength. LSS and SH activated slag mortars were found to be more brittle than SC activated slag and PC mortars.Slag mortar made with LSS had a high drying shrinkage, up to six times that of PC mortar. Similarly, slag mortar made with SH had a shrinkage up to three times that of PC mortar. However, SC activated slag mortar had a lower or comparable shrinkage to PC mortar. Therefore, the use of SC as an activator for slag mortar is recommended, since it results in adequate strength, similar setting times to PC mortar and comparable or lower shrinkage.  相似文献

In this study, the effect of lime on control of SO2 emissions was investigated by briquetting of coal particles with various lime contents. The influence of the added lime was determined not only from the view of its contribution to environmental aspects but also in terms of effects on the thermal features and reaction kinetics of coal. The extent of improvement was determined by detailed sulfur analysis. Thermal qualification and reaction kinetics of the coal briquettes with varying lime contents were performed by evolved gas analysis and its complementing kinetic model based on Arrhenius principles. At the end of experiments, utilization of lime was seen to contribute considerably to desulfurization process. However, lime addition had an adverse effect both on the effectiveness of combustion and the liability of the coal briquettes to oxidize.  相似文献

Cooperative nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system is an effective solution for the fifth generation (5G) wireless mobile communications systems. In this work, the achievable rate analysis of a NOMA communication network with decode‐and‐forward (DF) relaying under κμ shadowed fading conditions is investigated. First, we develop an analytical framework for cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the considered system model. Then, the average achievable rate expressions for two different information bits namely s1 and s2 are derived based on the derived CDF for NOMA with DF relaying over κμ shadowed fading channels. Furthermore, we also propose simplified average achievable rate expressions for the special cases of κμ shadowed fading channels in order to facilitate the evaluation of the derived expressions. Some numerical examples on the achievable rate of the considered system are shown for different scenarios. Moreover, our derived analytical average achievable rate expressions are confirmed by the simulations results.  相似文献

The apoptotic machinery has been intensively investigated, and interleukin-1-beta-converting enzyme (ICE) and its homologs directly mediate apoptosis by means of their unique protease activity. Fas/Apo1 (CD95), a member of the TNF-receptor family, mediates apoptosis by binding to its ligand, which is mainly expressed on lymphocytes. Here, we investigated the expression and function of both molecules in renal-cell cancer (RCC). The expression of Fas was examined in 6 RCC cell lines by immunoblotting and all of them expressed Fas. ICE and CPP32/YAMA were also identified among the cell lines. We earlier examined ACHN cells expressing low levels of BCL-2, as well as KRC/Y cells with high levels of BCL-2. Here, we found that the anti-Fas monoclonal antibody, CH-11, induced apoptosis in a dose-dependent fashion more remarkably in ACHN cells. Pre-incubation with the tetrapeptide YVAD-chloromethyl-ketone or DEVD-aldehyde inhibited Fas-mediated apoptosis. These findings suggest that, in RCC, apoptosis is induced by lymphocytes bearing Fas-L, and that it is achieved through the proteolytic action of CPP32/YAMA and/or ICE, or another member of the ICE/ced-3 protease family.  相似文献
