This paper documents part of a research program which has been under way at the CIM Centre at Swinburne University of Technology since 1989. The purpose of the research program was to develop an open-architecture machine tool control system and then to see how that system could be used to change the distribution of traditional manufacturing design, planning and control functions. This paper examines one part of that research program and focuses on a methodology which could prove to be useful in the machine tool selection, cutter selection and cutter path generation phases of process planning for cutting operations on workpieces in computer-controlled machine tools.It is suggested that a configuration space transform be used for each cutter/machine tool combination to find the volume that the combination could remove from the uncut workpiece without removing any of the material that will form the final workpiece. A method of comparing these volumes from different combinations is then outlined. The output of this method is a reasonable sequence of machine tools and cutters. Path planning can then be carried out for each of the chosen combinations using a method similar to the one used to find the possible volume to be removed.Possible implementation techniques, and their limitations on existing computer hardware, are discussed and the most promising of these are identified, based upon some properties of configuration space transforms. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To determine whether neurological and psychiatric symptoms predict survival time among patients with Alzheimer disease (AD) after adjusting for the influence of sociodemographic variables, health conditions, and dementia severity separately for men and women. DESIGN: The sample consisted of 936 men and women diagnosed as having probable or possible AD at 1 of 7 Alzheimer's Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Centers throughout California from 1986 through 1990. Data on dementia severity, comorbid conditions, and demographic characteristics were collected at the time of AD diagnosis. Data on vital status and dates of death were obtained by linking the patient file to several administrative databases maintained by the California State and federal governments. The mean length of follow-up was 31 months. Data were analyzed with Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Cox proportional hazards models. RESULTS: Men had shorter survival times than did women (log-rank test, 30.93, P < .001). Among men, but not women, survival times were negatively associated with selected neurological and psychiatric symptoms. Among women, but not men, a history of cardiovascular conditions was associated with poorer survival. CONCLUSIONS: Patterns of survival and predictors of survival time among patients with AD differ by sex. Future studies of survival and progression of AD need to examine men and women separately. 相似文献

Improvement of air distribution in refrigerated vertical open front remote supermarket display cases

This paper presents some of the results derived from extensive experimentation on display cases for supermarkets and derives some possible improvements to augment temperature uniformity and energy performance. The effect of the perforation pattern of the rear duct on the distribution of airflow between these and the front curtain is brought out. The critical component is air infiltration across the curtain, which is governed by internal air distribution and curtain characteristics. It is observed that a 70–30 distribution of flow between the curtain and the rear duct perforations yields a performance that satisfies the standards. Further, a judicious distribution of perforations on the rear duct at various levels and across is necessary. Correlations available in the literature are useful in making a qualitative assessment of the results. 相似文献

The antiarrhythmic properties of sublingual verapamil were investigated in seven patients with acute fast atrial flutter (n = 2) or fibrillation (n = 5). A rapid and significant (P < 0.05) reduction in the ventricular rate was achieved in all seven patients. The ventricular rate at peak plasma verapamil concentration (+/- s.d.) was significantly slower than on admission (101.6 +/- 11.3 and 159 +/- 5.3 beats min-1 respectively, P < 0.01). The ventricular rate remained controlled for over 4 h. Sublingual verapamil was rapidly absorbed with the maximum peak plasma concentration (153.3 +/- 15.5 ng ml-1) being achieved after 1.21 +/- 0.18 h. Side-effects of sublingual verapamil were limited to one report of a bitter taste. The sublingual administration of verapamil may provide an alternative method for the control of acute fast atrial fibrillation and flutter in selected patients. 相似文献

This paper discusses the rationale behind a new form of machine tool control system which has been developed at the Key Centre for Computer Integrated Manufacture (CIM Centre) in Melbourne Australia. The new control system is based upon standard computer hardware and is intended as a replacement for computer numerical control (CNC), which has severe limitations in the CIM environment. Conjugated polymer-based block copolymers (CP-BCPs) are an unexplored class of materials for organic thermoelectrics. Herein, the authors report on the electronic conductivity (σ) and Seebeck coefficient (α) of a newly synthesized CP-BCP, poly(3-hexylthiophene)-block-poly (oligo-oxyethylene methacrylate) (P3HT-b-POEM), upon solution co-processing with lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI), and subsequently vapor-doping with a molecular dopant, 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (F4TCNQ). It is found that the addition of the hydrophilic block POEM greatly enhances the processability of P3HT, enabling homogeneous solution-mixing with LiTFSI. Notably, interactions between P3HT-b-POEM with ionic species significantly improve molecular order and unexpectedly cause electrical oxidizing doping of P3HT block both in solution and solid-states, a phenomenon that has not been previously observed in Li-salt containing P3HT. Vapor doping of P3HT-b-POEM-LiTFSI thin films with F4TCNQ further enhances σ and yields a thermoelectric power factor PF = α2σ of 13.0 µ W m−1 K−2, which is more than 20 times higher than salt-free P3HT-b-POEM sample. Through modeling thermoelectric behaviors of P3HT-b-POEM with the Kang-Snyder transport model, the improvement in PF is attributed to higher electronic charge mobility originating from the enhanced molecular ordering of P3HT. The results demonstrate that solution co-processing CP-BCPs with a salt is a powerful method to control structure and performance of organic thermoelectric materials. 相似文献
