Landslide susceptibility is the likelihood of landslide occurrence, in a specific place and time. The identification of the potential relationships between landslide susceptibility and conditioning factors is very important towards landslide hazard mitigation. In this paper, we implement a local statistical analysis model geographically weighted regression, in two catchment areas located in northern Peloponnese, Greece. For this purpose, we examined the following eight conditioning factors: elevation, slope, aspect, lithology, land cover, proximity to the drainage network, proximity to the road network, and proximity to faults. Moreover, the relationship between these factors and landsliding in the study area is examined. The local statistical analysis model was also evaluated by finding its differences with the performance of a standard global statistical model logistic regression. The results indicated that the global statistical model can be enhanced by the application of a local model. The outputs of the proposed approach favored a better understanding of the factors influencing landslide occurrence and may be beneficial to local authorities and decision-makers dealing with the mitigation of landslide hazard.

In this study, the effect of rock bridges on rock slope stability was investigated by incorporating non-persistent joint networks in numerical models, and the critical profiles of an open pit mine were analysed. Parallel deterministic networks of infinite and finite lengths, ubiquitous joint network model and Veneziano joint network model were used in order to simulate the rock fractures. Materials were modelled based on the generalised Hoek―Brown and equivalent Mohr–Coulomb failure criteria. The parallel deterministic infinite and the ubiquitous joint network models produced lower safety factors. The introduction of rock bridges along discontinuity planes in the parallel deterministic network and Veneziano joint network models significantly contributed to the stability and strain distribution, which should be considered in stability analysis of rock mass in open pit by rock slope practitioners. The results show the significance of joints in hard rock behaviour and the joints should be included in order to attain practical and realistic simulations.  相似文献

Landslides in the Gulf of Corinth rift zone, Greece, are mainly in the vicinity of major active faults. The current study reports a representative landslide in this structurally controlled region which periodically moved, triggered/reactivated by heavy rainfall and earthquake activity. The composite landslide developed on structurally complex formations including sheared and weathered flysch—the most landslide-prone geological formation in Greece. The experience on the site during the last thirty-five years has contributed to a better understanding of the particular landslide mechanism and helped in the consideration of the effectiveness of various remedial works.   相似文献
