A dynamic mathematical model for simulating the coupled heat and moisture migration through multi-layer porous building materials was proposed. Vapor content and temperature were chosen as the principal driving potentials. The discretization of the governing equations was done by the finite difference approach. A new experimental set-up was also developed in this study. The evolution of transient temperature and moisture distributions inside specimens were measured. The method for determining the temperature gradient coefficient was also presented. The moisture diffusion coefficient, temperature gradient coefficient, sorption–desorption isotherms were experimentally evaluated for some building materials (sandstone and lime-cement mortar). The model was validated by comparing with the experimental data with good agreement. Another advantage of the method lies in the fact that the required transport properties for predicting the non-isothermal moisture flow only contain the vapor diffusion coefficient and temperature gradient coefficient. They are relatively simple, and can be easily determined.  相似文献

Changes, over a period of 8 years, in the chemical composition and morphology of deposit and lining materials in a production rotary kiln for iron ore pellet manufacture are described. The following have been studied: two types of refractory brick used as lining material; deposited chunk materials from the lining; the interaction zones between deposits and linings. Morphological changes at the deposit/lining interface, and the active chemical reactions, are established. Larger hematite grains in the deposit material (5–50 μm) primarily remain at the original deposit/lining interface. The remainder penetrates fissures, voids and brick joints, forms a laminar structure with corundum from the bricks, and migrates in grains in the lining material. Potassium penetrates more deeply into the bricks than hematite, resulting in the formation of kalsilite, leucite and potassium β-alumina, which contribute to degradation of the lining.  相似文献

This paper discusses the systematization effort undertaken to generate an equipment specification of an extremely detailed and new nature for DCMEs in accordance with the INTELSAT specification IESS-501. The main areas of importance addressed are additional to what has already been defined within the IESS-501. A discussion of important aspects when introducing DCME into actual network conditions is also contained and results based on simulations of performance under simulated network environments are included.  相似文献

A new sensing technology platform integrating magnetic permeability detection and a two-site heterogeneous immunoassay in a one-step analysis is described. As a platform model, measurements of C-reactive protein (CRP), a cardiac and inflammation marker, were performed in a rapid (11.5 min) high-sensitivity (hs) procedure with a low detection limit (0.2 mg/L) and accuracy (CV = 11%). The two-site heterogeneous immunoassay was performed in 1.2-mL disposable reagents vials containing solid phase (polyclonal anti-CRP conjugated silica microparticles), labeling agent (monoclonal anti-CRP conjugated superparamagnetic nanoparticles), and reaction buffer. Whole blood (20 muL) was assayed by introducing the sample into a reagent vial using a glass capillary and mixing its contents by hand for 30 s. After a 11-min sedimentation step, the vial was placed into the coil of the magnetic permeability detector, which measured the enrichment of superparamagnetic nanoparticles in the solid-phase sediment. Magnetic permeability detection and quantification is based on the principle that when paramagnetic materials are placed inside a coil, the inductance of the coil is influenced. Screening of CRP on whole blood patient samples showed good correlation with central hospital measurements for hsCRP (y = 1.018x - 0.021, R(2) = 0.980, n = 103) and normal range CRP (y = 1.02x + 2.53, R(2)= 0.991, n = 33) analyses. The mean differences of the two methods according to the Bland and Altman plots were -0.03 +/- 1.12 mg/L for hsCRP analysis and -3.4 +/- 8.64 mg/L for normal range CRP analysis.  相似文献

A filtered bog-water, concentrated by means of a freezing technique, has been studied with respect to acid-base properties and aluminium(III) complexation reactions. Sampling was performed during autumn and winter periods with a resulting acidity or alkalinity due to oxic (autumn) or anoxic (winter) conditions. The measurements were performed as potentiometric titrations in constant ionic media (0.02, 0.1 and 0.6 M NaCl) with the use of a glass electrode. The samples show buffer ranges at 3 pH 5 and pH 7.5. The first is ascribed to the presence of carboxylate groups and is characterized by fast equilibria. The second is due to phenolic OH groups and precipitation reactions with resulting sluggish equilibria. For one sampling period comprehensive measurements were undertaken to study the possible polyelectrolytic character of the organic acids. Due to the small increase in apparent carboxylate pKa-values with the degree of dissociation at low (0.02 M) as well as at high (0.6 M) ionic strength, the possible polyelectrolytic feature of the acids was neglected. Instead, a good fit to data was obtained by introducing a di-protic acid (H2L) as a model compound. Furthermore the medium dependence of the two acidity constants could satisfactorily be fitted to the expression:
, where K is the constant at infinite dilution, a and b parameters of which b has been adjusted to present data. The following K values were obtained: pK1 = 3.65 and pK2 = 4.30. The complexation with Al(III) could be described by the formation of AlL+, AlL2 and the ternary species AlLH−1. The stability constants (log k1 = 4.4 (winter), 4.2 (autumn); log k2 = 4.2, 4.7; pKa (AlL+) = 4.2, 4.2) show no significant trend with sampling period but indicate a stability of the complexes greater than for phtalic acid but lower than for oxalic acid. Finally, the theoretical solubility of the clay mineral kaolinite in the presence of bog-water was computer modelled. Degradation of bricks in an iron ore pellet producing kiln has been investigated. Lab-scale tests of brick/slag interaction performed under different temperatures, atmospheres, and alkali additions show that addition of alkali dissolves the mullite in the brick and leads to formation of the phase nepheline (Na2O·Al2O3·2SiO2). At a high temperature, the grain boundary where nepheline is formed disintegrates due to volume expansion. At increased temperature, the nepheline transforms to an amorphous phase. Thus, a wear mechanism is proposed in the kiln using these bricks that involves these chemical reactions in combination with erosion by the continuously flowing slag.  相似文献

Investigating marine concrete by determining the chloride profile is a common way for making a prediction of the remaining service life of a structure. The most common methods of sampling concrete for this purpose is dust sampling by dry drilling or sampling cores which are analyzed by profile grinding in a laboratory. Now, a similar study has been performed, by simulating different sampling techniques in data from EPMA. The results from the simulations of the concrete specimen analyzed with the EPMA, confirm the results from earlier performed dry drilling tests in laboratory and shows the same extensive variations when chloride content is presented as % by weight of concrete instead of as % by weight of calcium oxide. Comparing the results from the earlier performed sampling by dry drilling with the results from the EPMA simulations, it is seen that the dry drilling probably is afflicted with a systematic error by “movement” of dust into the sampling holes when drilling. This study also shows effects of large aggregates in small bores even though the cement content is referred to. However, no signs of “shadowing” by the aggregates was detected when the simulations where performed. Even “horizontal” drilling was simulated in order to be able to detect this possible effect of the aggregates on the chloride ingress into the concrete.  相似文献

Objectives

We present a method based on a proposed statistical definition of white matter hyperintensities (WMH), which can work with any combination of conventional magnetic resonance (MR) sequences without depending on manually delineated samples.

Materials and methods

T1-weighted, T2-weighted, FLAIR, and PD sequences acquired at 1.5 Tesla from 119 subjects from the Kings Health Partners-Dementia Case Register (healthy controls, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease) were used. The segmentation was performed using a proposed definition for WMH based on the one-tailed Kolmogorov–Smirnov test.

Results

The presented method was verified, given all possible combinations of input sequences, against manual segmentations and a high similarity (Dice 0.85–0.91) was observed. Comparing segmentations with different input sequences to one another also yielded a high similarity (Dice 0.83–0.94) that exceeded intra-rater similarity (Dice 0.75–0.91). We compared the results with those of other available methods and showed that the segmentation based on the proposed definition has better accuracy and reproducibility in the test dataset used.

Conclusion

Overall, the presented definition is shown to produce accurate results with higher reproducibility than manual delineation. This approach can be an alternative to other manual or automatic methods not only because of its accuracy, but also due to its good reproducibility.
