Many critical issues need to be addressed when microstructured reactors are manufactured in large unit volumes. The most crucial of these are cost, ease of production, and reliability. The lack of breakthrough manufacturing technology to provide high‐efficiency, low‐cost, high‐precision plates is a hindrance to the early market implementation of systems requiring metallic microstructured plates. This contribution focuses on the development and optimization of a combined embossing and bending tool for the quick and continuous manufacture of easily machined plates.  相似文献

Human anti-murine antibody titres following patient exposure to the monoclonal antibody Orthoclone OKT3 (muromonab-CD3) are determined by laboratories using diverse analytical methods which are not standardized and whose concordance is not established. A multicentre study group therefore compared testing for IgG anti-OKT3 antibody among seven laboratories. A set of 270 sera was obtained from 30 heart, 30 kidney and 30 liver transplant recipients with no previous exposure to OKT3 who were receiving OKT3 for induction immunosuppression. Sera were collected from each patient prior to and at 24 +/- 2 days and 31 +/- 2 days following initial OKT3 exposure. Identical aliquots of all 270 sera were tested for IgG anti-OKT3 antibody by each laboratory. In addition, the limit of detection of each laboratory's method was estimated by titration of an affinity-purified IgG anti-OKT3 reference material of known concentration. Anti-OKT3 antibody formation differed greatly among the three organ groups. Cardiac patients demonstrated the least sensitization and almost exclusively lower titres, while kidney recipients had more frequent and higher titre antibody formation. Liver recipients yielded the highest sensitization rate and the most frequent high titre sera. Importantly, the seven laboratories differed widely in the number of pretreatment sera reported as positive (ranging from 0% to 41% among laboratories), the number of post-OKT3 sera reported as positive (17-63%), the number of post-OKT3 samples with titre > or = 1000 (2-31%), and the number of patients sensitized 19-69%). Concordance among laboratories was highly variable, with interlaboratory agreement ranging from 38% to 83% on the sample titres assigned to 180 post-OKT3 sera. Many of the discordant results were consistent with differences in the limit of detection of the analytical methods, which ranged from 0.19 microgram/ml to > or = 15 micrograms/ml, a nearly 100-fold difference among laboratories. This study demonstrated the presence of both good concordance and significant discordance among laboratories in determining human anti-mouse antibody titres, and demonstrated that common titre categories (100, 1000, 10,000) were not equivalent among laboratories. The level of concordance among methods should be considered when comparing anti-OKT3 antibody results from different centres and their correlation with clinical events. Universal comparative testing, patterned after proficiency testing programmes, is needed to assess differences among laboratories and to bring uniformity and a sound interpretative basis to this field of testing.  相似文献

Creep studies were carried out on a range of homopolymers and copolymers of polyethylene with well‐defined molecular weight and branch content. The creep data were analyzed in terms of two thermally activated processes acting in parallel and the effects of molecular weight and branch content are discussed. It is shown that increasing either the number‐average molecular weight or the weight‐average molecular weight gives improved creep behavior at all stress levels. The introduction of butyl branches leads to lower creep at low‐stress levels but can give rise to higher creep at high stress. Plots of the equilibrium log10(strain rate) versus stress at fixed draw ratio (strain) can be used to define sections through a unique true stress/true strain/strain rate surface for each material. These creep results have an additional value in terms of the link between slow crack propagation (SCG) in polyethylene and fibril creep, confirming the proposal made elsewhere that SCG can be quantified in terms of creep to failure across the true stress/true strain/strain rate surface. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, J Appl Polym Sci 89: 1663–1670, 2003  相似文献

A combination of MOSFET gate-controlled diode measurements and a very sensitive electron spin resonance technique called spin-dependent recombination was utilized to observe and identify defect centers generated by a negative bias temperature stress in fully processed SiO/sub 2/-based pMOSFETs. In SiO/sub 2/ devices, the defects include two Si/SiO/sub 2/ interface silicon dangling bond centers (P/sub b0/ and P/sub b1/) and may also include an oxide silicon dangling bond center (E'). The observations indicate that both P/sub b0/ and P/sub b1/ defects play major roles in these SiO/sub 2/-based devices and suggest that E' centers could play an important role.  相似文献

In laboratory simulations of foraging conditions, adult White Carneaux pigeons maintained ad lib weight by treadlepressing for lengthy periods of access to grain in a 24-hr live-in environment. Localized visual signals produced by treadlepressing evoked approach and pecking behavior if they signaled impending food presentation (Pavlovian 1st-order conditioning) or the presentation of an established signal for food (Pavlovian 2nd-order conditioning). Bioparticle separation, bioparticle enrichment, and electric field-mediated immune detection were carried out on microfabricated semiconductor chips utilizing ac and dc electric fields. Microscale separation on a chip surface having an active area of approximately 16 mm2 was demonstrated for a mixture of Bacillus globigii spores and Escherichia coli bacteria. Dielectrophoretic enrichment was performed by collecting target bioparticles from a flow stream in flow cells of 47.5 microL, achieving a 20-fold increase in the concentration of E. coli bacteria from a diluted sample, a 28-fold enrichment for peripheral blood mononuclear cells from red blood cells, and a 30-fold increase in white blood cells from diluted whole blood. The ability to manipulate and collect bioparticles and macromolecules at microfabricated electrodes with ac and dc fields was further illustrated in electric field-mediated immunoassays for analyzing the biological identities of E. coli bacteria and B. globigii spores. According to these results, the electric methods for manipulating bioparticles present themselves as viable techniques for novel biomedical applications in sample preparations and biochemical assays on microelectrode arrays.  相似文献
