An experimental procedure was developed to study directly the process by which liquid bridges between small particles in a granule form and solidify. The evolution of saturated solutions of such pharmaceutical excipients as lactose and mannitol in a liquid bridge was studied on a system situated on a microscope slide. Solidification and crystallization kinetics and phase composition during and immediately following bridge formation were observed directly. It was shown that bridges on the microscope slide and in the granule behave very much the same regardless of the different length and diffusion-scales of the two systems.We found that solid bridge formation takes place in several consecutive but distinct steps. In the case of lactose, considerable shrinkage of the initial liquid bridge takes place prior to the onset of crystallization. Further bridge solidification at ambient conditions occurs via simultaneous crystallization and vitrification within minutes. As a result, a “solid” bridge usually contains both a crystalline and a non-crystalline phase, the crystalline phase being predominately α-lactose monohydrate. Most of the non-crystalline phase eventually converts to crystalline β-lactose but the process may take many hours or even days. Results for this process are compared for samples obtained from different manufacturers of commercially available lactose. In the case of mannitol, different polymorphic forms crystallize as the drying/crystallization process progresses. A formed “solid” bridge usually contains several polymorphs of mannitol. The relevance of the behavior of the two model systems (pure lactose and pure mannitol) to a real granulation and tabletting process is discussed.  相似文献

The optimality principles in non-zero sum differential games and multicriterial control problems taken from the corresponding static (simultaneous) game theory are usually dynamic unstable (time inconsistent), thus their use becomes questionable if special regularization attempts are not made. This important aspect was first considered in [1], but also in the earlier paper of Strotz [7] this was shown for a special control problem with discount payoff. We have shown in [2] that many of the known procedures (excluding those based on scalarization of the payoff vector), of selecting of a special Pareto-optimal solution from the set of all Pareto-optimal solutions are dynamic unstable (time-inconsistent) and therefore the regularization procedures leading to the dynamic stable optimality principles are purposed [3]. It turns out that also in the Nash [4] bargaining process the regularization attempt can be made by constructng a special equation for the conflict point. The idea of the method is closely connected with the paper [5]. We derive a general equation relating probability densities and as special cases we the obtain Gram-Charlier and Edgeworth series. This allows us to generalize these methods and clarify a number of issues pertaining to both probability theory and time-frequency analysis. In particular we show how the Gram-Charlier and Edgeworth series are related to the kernel method of time-frequency analysis. The approach allows us to construct densities that satisfy given constraints such as joint moments or conditional moments. Also, we show that the kernel has to be signal dependent and that to obtain a proper distribution it should be the ratio of two characteristic functions.  相似文献

Family structure and function and their association with knowledge and attitudes toward sexuality, contraception, and sexually transmitted diseases (STD) were studied in 918 students and 312 adolescents working in factories. Unmarried workers reported higher rates of sexual activity than did students (30.9% vs. 21.8%, p = .04 for males; 12.9% vs. 6.0%, p = .005 for females). Among sexually active males, 33.3% of students and 30.7% of workers used contraception, compared with 27.5% of female students and 9.5% of female workers. Workers were from larger families than students, and the male and female workers had lower scores for knowledge on sexuality, contraception, and STD than did students. Multiple stepwise regression showed that age and schooling of the parents were associated with knowledge and attitudes in the students. In workers, the position of the child in the family was a negative regressor for attitudes and knowledge on sexuality in males, and for knowledge on contraception and STD in females. In regard to family function, the significant factors were compromise between the parents, positive affective response, communication within the family, problem solution, and control of behavior. It was concluded that female workers are at higher risk for unwanted pregnancies and STD. The factors associated with knowledge and attitudes were age, schooling of the parents, mother working out of home, position of the adolescent in the family, and the diverse aspects of family function.  相似文献

The quaternary alloy InAs1−x−ySbxPy, lattice-matched to InAs, is a promising material for the production of infrared light sources for the detection of gases in the 2–4 μm region of the spectrum. In this work, thermodynamic phase equilibrium calculations have been carried out to determine the compositions required for liquid phase epitaxial growth and the extent of the miscibility gap in the solid material. For high band gap materials, the desired growth temperature is found to be intermediate between a low temperature required to grow P-rich solids and higher temperatures required to avoidspinodal decomposition. Conventional LPE growth at an intermediate temperature of 583°C is found to produce good material with high luminescence efficiency and excellent optical characteristics. Problems with phosphorus loss from the melt are also discussed and lower growth temperatures are found to considerably reduce this problem. Growth in the metastable region between the binodal and spinodal lines has been achieved with the production of phosphorus-rich solids with concentrations up to y = 0.445.  相似文献
