Many video-based techniques for assessing postures at work have been developed. Choosing the most appropriate technique should be based on an evaluation of different alternatives in terms of their ability to produce posture information at low input costs, i.e. their cost efficiency. This study compared four video-based techniques for assessing upper arm postures, using cost and error data from an investigation on hairdressers. Labour costs associated with the posture assessments from the video recordings were the dominant factor in the cost efficiency comparison. Thus, a work sampling technique associated with relatively large errors appeared, in general, to be the most cost-efficient because it was labour-saving. Measurement bias and other costs than labour cost for posture assessment influenced the ranking and economic evaluation of techniques, as did the applied measurement strategy, i.e. the numbers of video recordings and repeated assessments of them. PRACTITIONER SUMMARY: The cost efficiency of four video-based techniques for assessing upper arm postures was compared. Work sampling techniques were in general more cost efficient than continuous observations since they were labour-saving. Whilst a labour cost dominated the comparison, 'hidden costs', bias and measurement strategy also influenced this dominance.  相似文献

Bone formation (osteogenesis) is a complex process in which cellular differentiation and the generation of a mineralized organic matrix are synchronized to produce a hybrid hierarchical architecture. To study the mechanisms of osteogenesis in health and disease, there is a great need for functional model systems that capture in parallel, both cellular and matrix formation processes. Stem cell-based organoids are promising as functional, self-organizing 3D in vitro models for studying the physiology and pathology of various tissues. However, for human bone, no such functional model system is yet available. This study reports the in vitro differentiation of human bone marrow stromal cells into a functional 3D self-organizing co-culture of osteoblasts and osteocytes, creating an organoid for early stage bone (woven bone) formation. It demonstrates the formation of an organoid where osteocytes are embedded within the collagen matrix that is produced by the osteoblasts and mineralized under biological control. Alike in in vivo osteocytes, the embedded osteocytes show network formation and communication via expression of sclerostin. The current system forms the most complete 3D living in vitro model system to investigate osteogenesis, both in physiological and pathological situations, as well as under the influence of external triggers (mechanical stimulation, drug administration).  相似文献

This paper presents an evaluation of various control methods to be used during drilling operations where an unexpected gas influx occurs. In the event of an unexpected gas influx the current industry procedure is to control the pressure in the well manually. The drilling industry term for this manual procedure is well control. The focus of the paper is threefold. Firstly, to design an automatic sequence which is similar to the existing manual procedure. Secondly, to evaluate three different control algorithms for pressure control during an unexpected gas influx, and thirdly, to evaluate control parameter tuning needed when implementing different control algorithms.The control methods have been evaluated on various drilling scenarios with unexpected gas influx, referred to as a kick. After a kick of reservoir gas has entered the well, automatic control of the well control choke and rig pump is applied to compensate for pressure fluctuations while circulating out the gas. A PI controller is designed to stabilize the well pressure by controlling the well control choke, an internal model controller (IMC) controls the pressure by manipulating the choke and the rig pump flowrate, and a model predictive controller (MPC) uses coordinated control of the choke and the pump flowrate to stabilize the well pressure. The model based controllers use a simple first order model of the well. Simulations are performed using a detailed flow model of the well to test the controller performance and robustness. Several cases with different amounts of gas influx are investigated.The simulations show that it is feasible to control the pressure using automatic control of the choke valve and pump during an unexpected gas influx by use of all the presented control methods. The control methods are robust against changes in process conditions and disturbances, as they are able to handle several pressure levels and gas volumes without requiring re-tuning. However, since the pressure dynamics in the well are influenced when gas is entering the well, the model based controllers could probably be further improved if the models were updated after the gas influx occurred.The results indicate that adaption of the automatic sequence to the current manual procedure is applicable. However, to avoid a reduction in downhole pressure when stopping the pump and shutting in the well, the automatic sequence may be further improved beyond what is feasible with manual operation.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to record, objectively describe and compare working postures of Brazilian and Norwegian construction electricians. Postures of the upper arms, head, and neck during work and breaks were quantified by means of inclinometry for a representative sample of 12 Brazilian and 12 Norwegian electricians in the construction industry during a full work-shift. Despite that differences were found between specific work-related factors, Brazilian and Norwegian workers revealed a high and very similar level and pattern of postures for all evaluated body regions, suggesting that results could be extrapolated to other electricians. Upper arm elevation was high and similar for both groups and head flexion and extension was pronounced compared to other occupations. Thus, extreme postures were identified for construction electricians in both countries, with similar exposure pattern also for defined tasks (planning, support and wiredraw), suggesting that this job is risky regardless organizational differences.  相似文献

Civil engineering is an interdisciplinary field, and most of the projects designed and built represent very complex systems, both during the construction phase and in the built phase. This research describes how a course in land development that included engineering design elements, lectures that also touched on other related fields, and a field journal assignment at a “green” (sustainable) construction site facilitated students’ understanding of complex systems. Results suggest that this course design facilitates the development of students’ proficiencies in several skill sets, and can increase students’ understanding of the complexity involved in civil engineering projects.  相似文献

We present results from the MicroActive project which develops an instrument for molecular diagnostics. The instrument is first tested for patient screening for a group of viruses causing cervical cancer. Two disposable polymer chips with reagents stored on-chip are developed and will be inserted into the instrument for each patient sample analysis. The first chip will perform nucleic acid extraction from patient epithelial cervical cells, while mRNA amplification and fluorescent detection takes place in the second chip. This paper reports results on the amplification chip. Purified sample is inserted into the chip and split into ten smaller droplets for simultaneous amplification and detection of ten viruses. The droplets move in parallel channels, each with two chamber extensions containing dried reagents. Experimental results on parallel droplet movement using one external pump combined with hydrophobic restrictions show that the parallel droplet positions can be controlled. There are four valves with increasing burst pressures between 800 and 4,500 Pa in each parallel channel, positioning the droplets in metering zones and reaction chambers. The re-hydration times for the dried reagents in micro chambers have been monitored. After sample insertion, uniform concentration of the reagents in the droplet was reached after respectively 60 s and 10 min. These times are acceptable for successful amplification. Finally we show positive amplification of HPV type 16 viruses in a micro chamber.  相似文献

The temperature-dependent Henrian activity coefficient of Na in liquid Mg in the very dilute range has been determined from measurements of equilibrium concentrations of Na in liquid Mg in contact with NaCl-MgCl2 melts of different compositions and temperatures in the range 650 to 790 °C. The term A in the equation RT in γ Na = A was fitted to the experimental results using the equilibrium constant for the reaction 2NaCl (l) + Mg (l) = MgCl2 (l) + 2Na (l) and thermodynamic data for the NaCl-MgCl2 melt. The obtained γ Na is compared to previously measured activity coefficients and activity coefficients calculated from existing solubility data for the Na-Mg system.  相似文献

The solubilities of chloride (Cl) in liquid magnesium (Mg) have been determined from the analysis of quenched samples of liquid Mg equilibrated with NaCl-MgCl2 melts of different compositions at temperatures in the range 650–790 °C. As an example, the solubility of Cl in liquid Mg in contact with pure MgCl2 at 735 °C was found to be approximately 18 ppm. The Cl solubility was found to be proportional to the square root of the MgCl2 activity in the NaCl-MgCl2 melt, indicating that MgCl2 dissolved according to the reaction 0.5MgCl2 + 0.5Mg(l) = MgCl (in Mg). The temperature dependency of the solubility also was measured. Thermodynamic values related to the dissolution of MgCl2 in liquid Mg have been estimated.  相似文献
