This article proposes to test the feasibility of long-term surface deformation monitoring based on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry on carbon dioxide (CO2) storage sites with land cover representative of potential European injection sites (agricultural or forests with minimum built-up land cover). Because no operational injection site is currently active in Europe, a SAR data set (based on EnviSAT–ASAR spaceborne data) is simulated by combining SAR scenes acquired over a potential future European injection site with deformation measurements from SAR analysis carried out on the In-Salah (Algeria) CO2 injection demonstrator site. The study shows that under such conditions, both persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI) and diffuse scatterer (DS) interferometry appear insufficient to provide a sufficiently dense measurement network to characterize surface deformation correctly. Alternative solutions, to be investigated in further studies, include the use of data archives with shorter acquisition time spans (e.g. Sentinel-1 data when available) or installation of corner reflectors. The cost of the latter mixed space/ground solution must be evaluated with respect to conventional ground-based measurement methods in the proposed context.  相似文献

A group of 33 patients with schizophrenia were compared with control participants using a spatial memory task in which words were presented on locations of a grid. In the first part of the experiment, recognition of target information (words) was tested. In the second, 2 tasks of spatial location (contextual information) were given involving different sets of words placed in different locations: A location memory task (determining which word was in a particular spatial location) explored an associative form of spatial memory, and a relocation task (determining where a particular word was located) explored an associative and a nonassociative form of spatial memory. Patients were more impaired with regard to the location memory task than to the target recognition and relocation tasks. The impairment was negatively correlated with Stroop task performance. The results suggest that schizophrenia is associated with a spatial context memory deficit, which could be due to defective associations between target and spatial information. Deformation grammars are a novel procedural framework enabling to sculpt hierarchical 3D models in an object‐dependent manner. They process object deformations as symbols thanks to user‐defined interpretation rules. We use them to define hierarchical deformation behaviours tailored for each model, and enabling any sculpting gesture to be interpreted as some adapted constraint‐preserving deformation. A variety of object‐specific constraints can be enforced using this framework, such as maintaining distributions of subparts, avoiding self‐penetrations or meeting semantic‐based user‐defined rules. The operations used to maintain constraints are kept transparent to the user, enabling them to focus on their design. We demonstrate the feasibility and the versatility of this approach on a variety of examples, implemented within an interactive sculpting system.  相似文献

We propose a technique for handling recursive axioms in deductive databases. More precisely, we solve the following problem: Given a relational query including virtual relations defined from axioms (Horn clauses, with variables in the conclusion predefined in the hypotheses), which can be recursive, how to translate this query into arelational program, i. e. a set of relational operations concerning only real relations (not virtual). Our solution has the following properties:
  • ? the program to evaluate the query always terminates,
  • ? the relational program is produced by a pure compilation of a source query and of the axioms, and is independent of the data values (there is no run-time),
  • ? the relational operations are optimized: theyfocus towards the computation of the query, without needless computations.
  • As far as we know, the Alexander Method is the first solution exhibiting all these properties. This work is partly funded by Esprit Project 112 (KIMS).  相似文献

    The dominance of Mustard's operation for transposition of the great arteries has been challenged by the recent revival of Senning's repair because it promises better long-term results in terms of venous obstruction and atrial haemodynamics. These hypotheses were tested by recording jugular venous flow waveforms transcutaneously in 24 postoperative patients with simple complete transposition using a bidirectional Doppler blood velocimeter. Eight patients had undergone Mustard's operation and 16 the Senning alternative; all had previously had a postoperative cardiac catheterisation. Both groups of patients had similar left ventricular, pulmonary arterial, and systemic venous atrial pressures. No child showed any evidence at catheterisation of either mitral regurgitation or of superior vena caval pathway obstruction. These two findings were endorsed by the transcutaneous Doppler recordings. Jugular venous flow in normal children exhibits two maxima, one of atrial filling during ventricular systole, the other of ventricular filling occurs once the tricuspid valve has opened. Both operative procedures diminished the size of the former phase, but the Mustard did so more. After Mustard's operation forward flow during the atrial filling phase was absent in approximately half the cardiac cycles recorded, and severely diminished in the rest. By contrast, there was approximately a 90 per cent appearance of atrial filling waves after Senning's operation which also provided significantly better atrial function than Mustard's procedure in terms of peak velocity of blood entering the atrium and total atrial filling. It is therefore concluded that both procedures compromise atrial volume and compliance but Senning's repair to a much lesser extent.  相似文献

    OBJECTIVES: Many studies have demonstrated that patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS), a very common sleep-related breathing disorder, are usually impaired in their driving ability because of decreased sleep quality. However, most of the simulation procedures in laboratories are designed to create monotonic conditions with low traffic density, if any, thereby leading to a dramatic decrease in performance in OSAS patients because of the lack of stimulation. The aim of this study was therefore to evaluate driving abilities in OSAS patients involved in a driving simulation task with medium traffic density, in order to replicate as far as possible real world conditions. The behavioral and physiological attributes likely to predict driving performance in these patients were also investigated. METHODS: After a normal night of sleep, 12 OSAS patients and 8 healthy controls performed 6 driving sessions during a 24-h period of sustained wakefulness. Driving performances (speed, lateral position, distances...) were measured and correlated to sleep parameters and to a waking EEG recorded during the task. RESULTS: Compared to controls, patients showed difficulties in speed adjustment. However, they maintained longer inter-vehicle distances, including during overtaking. Their waking EEG, while driving, showed increased spectral power in theta (3.9-7.8Hz) but also in beta (12.7-29.2Hz) activity, alpha power (7.9-12.6Hz) being increased in both groups due to sustained wakefulness. Poor sleep indices were correlated to increased theta and beta activities, as well as to more cautious behavior. DISCUSSION: In medium traffic density conditions, driving performance in OSAS patients remained at near normal levels, but with more cautious behavior than controls. This could be the result of a bigger effort to stay awake, as suggested by an increased beta activity in these patients.  相似文献

    A popular mode of shape synthesis involves mixing and matching parts from different objects to form a coherent whole. The key challenge is to efficiently synthesize shape variations that are plausible, both locally and globally. A major obstacle is to assemble the objects with local consistency, i.e., all the connections between parts are valid with no dangling open connections. The combinatorial complexity of this problem limits existing methods in geometric and/or topological variations of the synthesized models. In this work, we introduce replaceable substructures as arrangements of parts that can be interchanged while ensuring boundary consistency. The consistency information is extracted from part labels and connections in the original source models. We present a polynomial time algorithm that discovers such substructures by working on a dual of the original shape graph that encodes inter‐part connectivity. We demonstrate the algorithm on a range of test examples producing plausible shape variations, both from a geometric and from a topological viewpoint.  相似文献
