In this work the stress–strain curve of the recycled concretes was determined by replacing different percentages of the natural coarse aggregate with recycled coarse aggregate (20%, 50% and 100%). The results made it possible to establish the differences between the stress–strain relationship of a conventional concrete and this relationship for a recycled concrete depending on the percentage of replacement. In this way, it was found that the longitudinal strain of the recycled concretes increases with the percentage of recycled coarse aggregate used.Finally, using the experimental results, an analytical expression of the stress–strain curve accounting for the percentage of replacement was developed. The verification of the proposed model equation was done by comparing it to the experimental data. The results show that the proposed model equation satisfactorily describes the effect of the recycled aggregate on the stress–strain curve.  相似文献

We use low-temperature heat capacity, low-frequency Raman scattering, and THz time domain spectroscopy in order to scale the vibrational density of states and the Boson peak in SiO2-Al2O3-B2O3 Yb-laser host glasses. When substituting B2O3 for SiO2 at constant Al2O3 dopant level, we find an optimal value for the ratio of B/Al in terms of mixture stability, at which the excess in the electron donor capability of Al2O3 (relative to the SiO2 backbone) is compensated by the more acidic B2O3. At this composition, Al2O3 plays a mediating role in the structure of aluminoborosilicate glasses, facilitating dissolution of Yb2O3 and admixture of B2O3 into the SiO2 network.  相似文献

PROBA-V is a new global vegetation monitoring mission, to be launched in the second quarter of 2013. PROBA-V has been developed to show a consistent performance with SPOT-VEGETATION (SPOT-VGT) data, with similar spectral bands but with an improved spatial resolution of 1/3 km. The innovative mission concept has led to several key research topics related to image quality, which are discussed in this article. To support the existing VEGETATION user community, the data products for PROBA-V continue to provide daily top of canopy synthesis (S1-TOC) and 10 day synthesis products (S10-TOC). In addition, the new top of atmosphere daily synthesis (S1-TOA) products and a radiometrically/geometrically corrected (level 1C) product in raw resolution will also be provided for scientific users.  相似文献

Pavlovian fear conditioning depends on prediction error, or the discrepancy between actual and expected outcomes. We used immunohistochemistry, neuronal tract tracing, and reversible inactivation to study the role of prefrontal cortex and thalamocortical pathways in predictive fear learning. Unexpected, but not expected, conditioned stimulus (CS)–unconditioned stimulus (US) presentations caused increased c-Fos expression in the prefrontal cortex (PFC), midline thalamus, lateral amygdala, as well as retrograde labeled midline thalamic afferents to PFC. Reversible inactivation of dorsomedial PFC, but not infralimbic PFC, prevented the associative blocking of fear learning. These results suggest a role for dorsomedial PFC (dmPFC), and a thalamic → dmPFC pathway, in signaling whether or not aversive events are expected or unexpected and so whether they are to be learned about. Droplet microfluidics has enabled many recent applications in high-throughput screening and diagnostics. Little work has been done, however, to analyze the performance of droplet-based assays. This review aims to apply what is known in the literature to the analysis of the performance metrics of droplet-based assays, with specific relevance to diagnostic and biomedical applications based on two processes: enzymatic reactions and cell culture in droplets. By considering the physical scaling of individual processes—droplet generation, reaction kinetics, cell growth, and droplet interrogation—it is possible to extract a practical relationship between input parameters (e.g., droplet size and droplet polydispersity) and the output characteristics (e.g., throughput, dynamic range, and accuracy) of the assay. This review can serve as a guide to the design of droplet-based assays for achieving desired performance. While the focus is on assays based on enzymatic reactions and cell cultures, a similar analysis can be applied to other assays based on polymerase chain reaction and the detection of nucleic acids.  相似文献

Urolithin A is an active compound of gut-microbiota-derived metabolites of polyphenol ellagic acid that has anti-aging, antioxidative, and anti-inflammatory effects. However, the effects of urolithin A on polyinosinic acid-polycytidylic acid (poly(I:C))-induced inflammation remain unclear. Poly(I:C) is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) similar to a virus and is recognized by Toll-like receptor-3 (TLR3), inducing an inflammatory response in immune cells, such as macrophages. Inflammation is a natural defense process of the innate immune system. Therefore, we used poly(I:C)-induced RAW264.7 cells and attenuated the inflammation induced by urolithin A. First, our data suggested that 1–30 μM urolithin A does not reduce RAW264.7 cell viability, whereas 1 μM urolithin A is sufficient for antioxidation and the decreased production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), and C-C chemokine ligand 5. The inflammation-related proteins cyclooxygenase-2 and inducible nitric oxide synthase were also downregulated by urolithin A. Next, 1 μM urolithin A inhibited the levels of interferon (INF)-α and INF-β. Urolithin A was applied to investigate the blockade of the TLR3 signaling pathway in poly(I:C)-induced RAW264.7 cells. Moreover, the TLR3 signaling pathway, subsequent inflammatory-related pathways, and antioxidation pathways showed changes in nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) signaling and blocked ERK/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling. Urolithin A enhanced catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities, but decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in poly(I:C)-induced RAW264.7 cells. Thus, our results suggest that urolithin A inhibits TLR3-activated inflammatory and oxidative-associated pathways in macrophages, and that this inhibition is induced by poly(I:C). Therefore, urolithin A may have antiviral effects and could be used to treat viral-infection-related diseases.  相似文献

The desire to harness solar energy to address current global environmental problems led us to investigate two-dimensional (2D) core–shell hybrid photocatalysts in the form of a 2D-TiO2–surfactant, mainly composed of fatty acids. The bulk products, prepared by two slightly different methods, consist of stacked host–guest hybrid sheets held together by van der Waals forces between alkyl carboxylate moieties, favoring the synergistic conjugation of the photophysical properties of the core and the hydrophobicity of the self-assembled surfactant monolayer of the shell. X-ray diffraction and the vibrational characteristics of the products revealed the influence of synthesis strategies on two types of supramolecular aggregates that differ in the core chemical structure, guest conformers of alkyl surfactant tails and type, and the bilayer and monolayer of the structure of nanocomposites. The singular ability of the TiO2 core to anchor carboxylate leads to commensurate hybrids, in contrast to both layered clay and layered double-hydroxide-based ion exchangers which have been previously reported, making them potentially interesting for modeling the role of fatty acids and lipids in bio-systems. The optical properties and photocatalytic activity of the products, mainly in composites with smaller bandgap semiconductors, are qualitatively similar to those of nanostructured TiO2 but improve their photoresponse due to bandgap shifts and the extreme aspect-ratio characteristics of two-dimensional TiO2 confinement. These results could be seen as a proof-of-concept of the potential of these materials to create custom-designed 2D-TiO2–surfactant supramolecular photocatalysts.  相似文献
