An assessment was made of the microbiological quality of the final product (different retail cuts), produced by two different retail supermarket groups (A & B). The influence of sanitary conditions on the microbiological quality of the final product was evaluated, and the possible influences on shelf life were determined. Supermarket group A (Sup group A) received carcasses with significantly lower surface counts of micro-organisms than supermarket group B (Sup group B), while the latter had a more efficient overall sanitation programme than supermarket group A. Five cuts were monitored for the presence of total aerobic counts, psychrotrophic counts, lactobacilli, Enterobacteriaceae and numbers of Pseudomonadaceae present. A shelf life study was also executed by repeating these enumerations on the same meat samples after refrigerated storage at 5°C for 2 and 4 days, respectively. It is generally accepted that a good refrigeration or chilling regime will preserve the inherent meat quality, but in this study it was found that neither served as a guarantee of quality. The more stringent hygiene at retail level of Sup group B yielded consistently lower mean counts of the different bacterial groups for all the meat cuts monitored and, thus meat with an extended shelf life. The total count (at 30°C) on meat cuts was the highest, followed by the psychrotrophs, the Pseudomonadaceae the Enterobacteriaeae and the lactobacilli. Minced meat generally had the highest mean aerobic total microbial counts. This count on minced meat might be a suitable indicator for monitoring the overall sanitary condition of a retail premises. The results re-emphasized the multi-factorial complexity of fresh meat quality and shelf life. The microbial quality of the raw material (carcasses), the maintenance of the cold chain, sanitary condition of premises, equipment and personnel surfaces and general management practices are factors that collectively determine the microbiological quality of the product.  相似文献

Mathematical modeling of the heart using magnetic resonance imaging   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A hybrid three-dimensional solid mathematical model of cardiac ventricular geometry developed using magnetic resonance (MR) images of an in vivo canine heart is discussed. The modeling techniques were validated using MR images of an ex vivo heart and direct measurements of cardiac geometry and mass properties. A spin-echo MR sequence with in-plane resolution of 1.0 mm was used to image the canine heart in eleven short-axis planes at contiguous 5-mm intervals. Contour points on the epicardial, left ventricle (LV), and right ventricle (RV) boundaries were selected manually at each slice level. A boundary representation geometric model was constructed by fitting third-order nonuniform rational B-spline surfaces through each set of surface points. Compared to the anatomic specimen (AS), volume errors of the ex vivo model were 0.3, 1.5, and 5.8% for the LV cavity, RV cavity, and total enclosed volumes, respectively. Comparison of cross-sectional areas of the AS and the model at ten levels demonstrated mean model errors of 4.1, 2.5, and 2.9% for the LV, RV, and epicardial boundaries, respectively  相似文献

This paper comments on the optimality of the Laplacian of a Gaussian edge detection filter which localizes edges through zero crossings in the filtered image. The arguments of both Marr and Hildreth, and Dickey and Shanmugam are reviewed to establish that the filter is optimal in the sense of maximizing output image energy near edge features. This filter's principal advantage over other edge detectors is that its response is user-adjustable through selection of a single parameter, the Gaussian standard deviation. However, no clear method for the selection of this parameter has been provided. The problem is addressed here by applying the filter to two ideal periodic edge models blurred by a Gaussian distribution point-spread function. The observed response to the edge spacing and blur standard deviation is then translated into a filter parameter design procedure. The problems of optimum filter performance in the presence of additive Gaussian noise are then addressed. In the present study we investigated the effects of dietary fats containing predominantly PUFA, monounsaturated FA (MUFA), or saturated FA (SFA) on lipid profile and liver cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7α1) mRNA expression and bile acid production in C57BL/6J mice. The animals (n=75) were randomly divided into five groups and fed a basic chow diet (AIN-93G) (BC diet), a chow diet with 1g/100g of cholesterol (Chol diet), a chow diet with 1g/100g of cholesterol and 14g/100g of safflower oil (Chol+PUFA diet), a chow diet with 1g/100g of cholesterol and olive oil (Chol+MUFA diet), or a chow diet with 1g/100g of cholesterol and myristic acid (Chol+SFA diet) for 6 wk. The results showed that the Chol+SFA diet decreased CYP7α1 gene expression and bile acid pool size, resulting in increased blood and liver cholesterol levels. Addition of PUFA and MUFA to a 1% cholesterol diet increased the bile acid pool production or bile acid excretion and simultaneously decreased liver cholesterol accumulation despite decreased CYP7α1 mRNA expression. The results indicate that the decreased bile acid pool size induced by the SFA diet is related to inhibition of the liver CYP7α1 gene expression, but an increased bile acid pool size and improved cholesterol homeostasis are disassociated from the liver CYP7α1 gene expression.  相似文献

Methylene blue (MB) is a cationic dyestuff, which is particularly resistant to biodegradation. The molecular sieved gamma-MnO2 was used as an adsorbent/oxidant to remove the MB at room temperature and in visible light. The removal efficiency was mainly evaluated by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), UV-Vis spectrometer (UV-Vis), total organic carbon (TOC). The results revealed that the mechanisms of MB removal by gamma-MnO2 are significantly influenced by the pH. In acidic conditions, hypsochromic effects (i.e. blue shifts of UV-Vis spectra) resulting from N-demethylation of the dimethylamino group in MB may occur concomitantly with oxidative degradation by gamma-MnO2. However, the TOC in solution after gamma-MnO2 treatment in acidic conditions did not show a dramatic decrease. At near neutral pH conditions, there was almost no UV-Vis absorption for the MB solution, however, only 50% TOC removal was observed. It indicated that MB was not only adsorbed onto gamma-MnO2 but also partially oxidatively degraded to other organic compounds which were colourless for UV-Vis.  相似文献

A physical-optics calculation was performed to study the effects of a microlens array placed over a focal-plane detector array. In certain conditions the light is further concentrated to a spot size that is smaller than the point-spread function of the receiver optics. It is also shown that the microlens refocuses a sinc-squared point-spread function to a shape that is more uniform as well as narrower. Numerical examples were made for the far IR.  相似文献
