This study applies a strategic framework for assessing organizational and network resilience of 75 critical infrastructure (CI) players in the Greater Montreal area. It identifies the challenges to these CIs' resilience. Contingency analysis is used to describe the main tendencies regarding values, practices, rules and norms, communicational and decisional structures as well as the interdependencies and their institutional, normative and economic contexts. This article examines three well‐known CI networks: transportation, energy and telecommunication, comprising governmental, community and private‐sector organizations. To do so, we developed a survey instrument to collect data from hundreds of critical infrastructure managers. Our findings indicate discrepancies in internal and external resilience factors across organizational type, size and CI.  相似文献

GaN devices exhibit excellent potential for use in many RF applications. However, commercial acceptance of the technology has been hindered by the scarcity and non-statistical nature of reliability results. In this work we present a full device level reliability study of GaN-on-Si HFETs. Reliability results on this technology include three-temperature DC data that show an activation energy of 1.7 eV and an average failure time >107 h at 150 °C. Additionally, long duration DC lifetest (30 000 device hours) and RF lifetest (4000 device hours) results demonstrate a repeatable low drift process. Environmental tests such as autoclave and ESD demonstrate the ruggedness of the material system and technology. Finally, initial failure analysis is discussed.  相似文献

Borehole temperature evolution during thermal response tests   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The measurement of temperature inside a borehole at specified depths during a thermal response test, used to infer the subsurface and the borehole thermal properties for the design of a ground-coupled heat pump system, allows the correlation of the subsurface thermal conductivity with stratigraphy. The temperature signal measured in the borehole during heat injection in a ground heat exchanger made with a single U-pipe, however, depends on the location of the temperature sensor in the borehole, which is difficult to determine in practice. Two-dimensional numerical simulations of the borehole temperature evolution during thermal response tests show that the temperature inside the borehole homogenizes rapidly after heat injection is stopped. Monitoring temperature recovery consequently helps to analyze measurements conducted at depth inside the borehole, since recovery measurements are not significantly influenced by the position of the sensor in the borehole. Numerical simulations also indicate that the borehole thermal resistance is best determined using a combination of recovery and heat injection data.  相似文献

Specific effects of the depth of interaction (DOI) on the photomultiplier (PM) response in an Auger gamma camera were quantified. The method was implemented and tested on a Monte Carlo simulator with special care to the noise modeling. Two models were developed, one considering only the geometric aspects of the camera and used for comparison, and one describing a more realistic camera environment. In a typical camera configuration and 140-keV photons, the DOI alone can account for a 6.4-mm discrepancy in position and 12% in energy between two scintillations. Variation of the DOI can still bring additional distortions when photons do not enter the crystal perpendicularly such as in slant hole, cone beam and other focusing collimators. With a 0.95-cm crystal and a 30 degrees slant angle, the obliquity factor can be responsible for a 5.5-mm variation in the event position. Results indicate that both geometrical and stochastic effects of the DOI are definitely reducing the camera performances and should be included in the image formation process.  相似文献

New and known arylidene-hydrazinyl-thiazole derivatives have been synthesized by a convenient Hantzsch condensation. All compounds were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxicity on two carcinoma cell lines, MDA-MB231 and HeLa. Significant antiproliferative activity for 2-(2-benzyliden-hydrazinyl)-4-methylthiazole on both MDA-MB-231 (IC50: 3.92 µg/mL) and HeLa (IC50: 11.4 µg/mL) cell lines, and for 2-[2-(4-methoxybenzylidene) hydrazinyl]-4-phenylthiazole on HeLa (IC50: 11.1 µg/mL) cell line is reported. Electrophoresis experiments showed no plasmid DNA (pTZ57R) cleavage in the presence of the investigated thiazoles.  相似文献

Expressions for the divergence of the corresponding two-dimensional Gaussian random processes are given in terms of row and column covariance matrices, and in terms of linear prediction parameters and maximum likelihood spectral estimates. Background  

Numerous engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) exist and new ENMs are being developed. A challenge to nanotoxicology and environmental health and safety is evaluating toxicity of ENMs before they become widely utilized. Cellular assays remain the predominant test platform yet these methods are limited by using discrete time endpoints and reliance on organic dyes, vulnerable to interference from ENMs. Label-free, continuous, rapid response systems with biologically meaningful endpoints are needed. We have developed a device to detect and monitor in real time responses of living cells to ENMs. The device, a living cell quartz crystal microbalance biosensor (QCMB), uses macrophages adherent to a quartz crystal. The communal response of macrophages to treatments is monitored continuously as changes in crystal oscillation frequency (Δf). We report the ability of this QCMB to distinguish benign from toxic exposures and reveal unique kinetic information about cellular responses to varying doses of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs).  相似文献

13C-NMR spectroscopy was used to evaluate the dynamic consequences of portacaval anastomosis on neuronal and astrocytic metabolism and metabolic trafficking between neurons and astrocytes. Glutamate is predominantly labeled from [1-13C]glucose, whereas [2-13C]acetate is more efficient in labeling glutamine, in accordance with its primary metabolism in astrocytes. Alanine and succinate labeling was only observed with [1-13C]glucose as precursor. Brain [1-13C]glucose metabolism in portacaval-shunted rats was similar to that in sham-operated controls with the exception of labeled glutamine and succinate formation, which was increased in shunted rats. The 13C enrichment was, however, decreased owing to an increase in total glutamine and succinate. Using [2-13C]acetate, on the other hand, flux of astrocytic label to neurons was severely decreased because label incorporation into glutamate, aspartate, and GABA was decreased following portacaval shunting. The latter amino acids are predominantly localized in neurons. These findings demonstrate that metabolic trafficking of amino acids from astrocytes to neurons is impaired in portacaval-shunted rats.  相似文献

Kinase suppressor of Ras (KSR) is an evolutionarily conserved component of Ras-dependent signaling pathways. Here, we find that murine KSR (mKSR1) translocates from the cytoplasm to the plasma membrane in the presence of activated Ras. At the membrane, mKSR1 modulates Ras signaling by enhancing Raf-1 activity in a kinase-independent manner. The activation of Raf-1 is mediated by the mKSR1 cysteine-rich CA3 domain and involves a detergent labile cofactor that is not ceramide. These findings reveal another point of regulation for Ras-mediated signal transduction and further define a noncatalytic role for mKSR1 in the multistep process of Raf-1 activation.  相似文献
