T 1-weighted images of the human brain obtained with the MDEFT sequence at 8 T are presented. These images are characterized by an excellent contrast and good signal to noise ratio. Importantly, results were obtained with adiabatic spin inversion and demonstrate that such pulses can be used event in the ultra high frequency (>300 MHz) range. It is thus possible to obtain high quality results at this field strength without violating SAR guidelines.  相似文献

In this work, we present the post-steady state analysis of the TCA cycle and a closed form solution to the rate of label washout from the C4 carbon of glutamic acid through the transaminases and the malate-aspartate shuttle and then through alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase. We demonstrate using a model of this problem that the rate of label washout depends not only on the flux through alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase, but most importantly on the activity of the malate-aspartate shuttle as determined by the forward and reverse fluxes through the transaminases and by the rate of transport of glutamate and alpha-ketoglutarate across the mitochondrial membrane.  相似文献

Crude oil samples from the Sharara-C oil field (Concession NC-115, Murzuq Basin, SW Libya) were analysed by organic geochemical methods in order to infer the geochemical characteristics of their respective source rocks. Aromatic hydrocarbons were analysed by gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and gas chromatography – tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS-MS) was used to analyse saturated biomarkers. The Sharara-C oils are interpreted to have been generated by marine shales containing mixed terrigenous and marine organic materials deposited in an intermediate (suboxic) environment. Age-specific biomarker ratios indicated that the oils are older than Cretaceous, and maturation-related parameters pointed to their high thermal maturity. Consistent with previous studies, source rocks are inferred to be “hot” shales in the Lower Silurian Tanezzuft Formation. Almost all the parameter ratios calculated varied over a very narrow range, indicating that the investigated oils were compositionally similar. The only significant difference that was noted concerned the sterane/hopane ratios whose variation suggested that there was some variability in the composition of the source organic material. The organic geochemical parameters determined for the Sharara-C crude oils were compared with published data on other crude oils from Concession NC-115. Almost all the parameters agreed well with previously published data on oils from this part of the Murzuq Basin. The greatest deviation concerned the values of some of the maturity parameters. This tended to confirm the conclusions of previous studies concerning the presence of a number of distinct oil families and sub-families in the Sharara oil field area which are genetically related but which have different maturities.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Antibodies to Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) antigens have been used for the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). While immunofluorescence assays (IFA) of IgA antiviral capsid and early antigens have been the mainstay of this diagnosis, enzyme immunoassays (ELISA) of various EBV antigens are now available. However in almost all of these assays, the sensitivities and specificities have been calculated using blood donors and normal hospital staff as controls, who may not be the most appropriate controls. We wanted to evaluate the usefulness of IFA and ELISA of various EBV antigens in a clinical setting to distinguish between patients with NPC and those suspected of NPC but being biopsy negative. METHODS: Between January 1987 and June 1988, 322 consecutive patients suspected of NPC and who had a post-nasal biopsy were studied. Blood was taken for EBV tests before diagnosis. Tests included IFA and ELISA IgA anti-VCA and anti-EA and ELISA IgA and IgG anti-ribonucleotide reductase, a cloned EA antigen. RESULTS: IFA IgA anti-VCA together with IFA IgA anti-EA both at a cut-off of 1:10 gave the best discrimination between patients with NPC and those suspected of NPC but were biopsy negative. CONCLUSION: The ELISA IgG anti-ribonucleotide reductase test is convenient to perform and looks very promising. An ELISA using a cocktail of cloned EA peptides may be even better.  相似文献

Local smoothing of N-dimensional data can be performed in many ways. This paper is oriented to local penalization and its minimization which generates a system of nonlinear equations. This approach enables to realize trade-off between denoising, edge, and structure preserving. This is mainly useful in the case of discontinuous signals and images. Various penalization strategies can be used for this task, but only constrained penalizations (Tukey, Welsch, Andrews) are successful. Novel nonlinear method is inspired by successive over-relaxation scheme for linear systems of equations, but it is applied to nonlinear root-finding problem. The method is designed to be stable for several smoother types. Root bracketing inside inner loop is included in the procedure and extends the stability range in many applications. Numerical experiments are performed on 1D signal and 2D image. Optimum relaxation factors are found experimentally for maximum rate of convergence. The main results of experimental part are: preference of Tukey method in the case of discontinuous signal, similarity of proposed methods in the case of continuous signal, and efficiency of Tukey method followed by watershed transform in the case of image segmentation. Selected smoothers are recommended mainly for signals and images with discontinuities and can be useful in signal and image enhancement, analysis, segmentation, and classification.  相似文献

Thermal energy storage is critical for reducing the discrepancy between energy supply and energy demand, as well as for improving the efficiency of solar thermal energy systems. Among the different types of thermal energy storage, phase-change materials (PCM) thermal energy storage has gained significant attention recently because of its high energy density per unit mass/volume at nearly constant temperature. This study experimentally investigates the using of a triplex tube heat exchanger (TTHX) with PCM in the middle tube as the thermal energy storage to power a liquid desiccant air-conditioning system. Four longitudinal fins were welded to each of the inner and middle tubes as a heat transfer enhancement in the TTHX to improve the thermal performance of the thermal energy storage. The average temperature of the PCM during the melting process in the TTHX with and without fins was compared. The PCM temperature gradients in the angular direction were analyzed to study the effect of the natural convection in the melting process of the thermal storage. The energy storage efficiency of the TTHX was determined. Results indicated that there was a considerable enhancement in the melting rate by using fins in the TTHX thermal storage. The PCM melting time is reduced to 86% by increasing of the inlet heat transfer fluid. The average heat storage efficiency calculated from experimental data for all the PCMs is 71.8%, meaning that 28.2% of the heat actually was lost.  相似文献

This paper aims at evaluating three selected low-cost porous materials from the point of view of their suitability as regenerator materials in the design of thermoacoustic travelling-wave engines. The materials tested include: a cellular ceramic substrate with regular square channels; steel “scourers”; and stainless steel “wool”. Comparisons are made against a widely used regenerator material: stainless steel woven wire mesh screen. For meaningful comparisons, the materials are selected to have similar hydraulic radii. One set of regenerators was designed around the hydraulic radius of 200 μm. This included the ceramic substrate, steel “scourers”, stainless steel “wool” and stacked wire screens (as a reference). This set was complemented by steel “scourers” and stacked wire screens (as a reference) with hydraulic radii of 120 μm. Therefore six regenerators were produced to carry out the testing. Initial tests were made in a steady air flow to estimate their relative pressure drop due to viscous dissipation. Subsequently, they were installed in a looped-tube travelling-wave thermoacoustic engine to test their relative performance. Testing included the onset temperature difference, the maximum pressure amplitude generated and the acoustic power output as a function of mean pressure between 0 and 10 bar above atmospheric. It appears that the performance of regenerators made out of “scourers” and steel “wool” is much worse than their mesh-screen counterparts of the same hydraulic radius. However cellular ceramics may offer an alternative to traditional regenerator materials to reduce the overall system costs. Detailed discussions are provided.  相似文献
