Assignment of referees to football games is an important problem faced in professional football leagues. Despite its importance, the problem has received limited academic attention. This paper presents a model and analysis of the problem for fair referee assignments, and develops a constructive heuristic and a local search procedure for its solution. Results from an extensive computational study show that the methods are effective in solving the problem in a second of computation time and yielding an excellent solution quality.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of robust delay‐dependent guaranteed cost control for uncertain nonlinear neutral systems with time‐varying state delay is investigated. The control law is chosen to be a memoryless type one. Neither any model transformation nor bounding of any cross terms are utilized. The system under consideration may be subjected to both norm‐bounded uncertainties and nonlinear parameter perturbations. A delay‐dependent sufficient condition is obtained in terms of a matrix inequality for which a cone complementarity problem is introduced to provide a feasible solution set. Studying the collaborative behavior of online learning teams and how this behavior is related to communication mode and task type is a complex process. Research about small group learning suggests that a higher percentage of social interactions occur in synchronous rather than asynchronous mode, and that students spend more time in task-oriented interaction in asynchronous discussions than in synchronous mode. This study analyzed the collaborative interaction patterns of global software development learning teams composed of students from Turkey, US, and Panama. Data collected from students’ chat histories and forum discussions from three global software development projects were collected and compared. Both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods were used to determine the differences between a group’s communication patterns in asynchronous versus synchronous communication mode. K-means clustering with the Ward method was used to investigate the patterns of behaviors in distributed teams. The results show that communication patterns are related to communication mode, the nature of the task, and the experience level of the leader. The paper also includes recommendations for building effective online collaborative teams and describes future research possibilities.  相似文献

In recent years, one of the most important and promising research fields has been metaheuristics to find optimal or near-optimal solutions for NP-hard combinatorial optimization problems. Improving the quality of the solution or the solution time is basic research area on metaheuristics. Modifications of the existing ones or creation of hybrid approaches are the focus of these efforts. Another area of improving the solution quality of metaheuristics is finding the optimal combination of algorithm control parameters. This is usually done by design of experiments or one-at-a-time approach in genetic algorithms, simulated annealing and similar metaheuristics. We observe that, in studies which use Ant Colonies Optimization (ACO) as an optimization technique; the levels of control parameters are determined by some non-systematic initial experiments and the interactions of the parameters are not studied yet.In this study, the parameters of Ant System have been investigated on different sized and randomly generated job-shop scheduling problems by using design of experiments. The effects and interactions of the parameters have been interpreted with the outputs of the experiments. Referring to the statistical analysis it is observed that none of the interactions between the Ant System parameters has a significant effect on makespan value. A specific fractional experimental design is suggested instead of the full factorial design. Depending on the findings from the benchmark problems it will be a reliable approach to use the suggested design for saving time and effort in experiments without sacrificing the solution quality.  相似文献

In this study, a new approach to the palmprint recognition phase is presented. 2D Gabor filters are used for feature extraction of palmprints. After Gabor filtering, standard deviations are computed in order to generate the palmprint feature vector. Genetic Algorithm-based feature selection is used to select the best feature subset from the palmprint feature set. An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based on hybrid algorithm combining Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm with back-propagation algorithms has been applied to the selected feature vectors for recognition of the persons. Network architecture and connection weights of ANN are evolved by a PSO method, and then, the appropriate network architecture and connection weights are fed into ANN. Recognition rate equal to 96% is obtained by using conjugate gradient descent algorithm.

This paper introduces a new model for robot behavior categorization. Correlation based adaptive resonance theory (CobART) networks are integrated hierarchically in order to develop an adequate categorization, and to elicit various behaviors performed by the robot. The proposed model is developed by adding a second layer CobART network which receives first layer CobART network categories as an input, and back-propagates the matching information to the first layer networks. The first layer CobART networks categorize self-behavior data of a robot or an object in the environment while the second layer CobART network categorizes the robot's behavior with respect to its effect on the object. Experiments show that the proposed model generates reasonable categorization of behaviors being tested. Moreover, it can learn different forms of the behaviors, and it can detect the relations between them. In essence, the model has an expandable architecture and it contains reusable parts. The first layer CobART networks can be integrated with other CobART networks for another categorization task. Hence, the model presents a way to reveal all behaviors performed by the robot at the same time.  相似文献

Ogee type spillway is one of the most preferred sluice types due to its functional suitability and high safety factor. It is used for controlling the flow rates and water levels in reservoirs, such as lowering the water level in emergency situations, maintaining normal river functions and discharging excess water. The main aim of this study is to investigate the flow over ogee type spillway by performing experiments in an open channel flume in the laboratory and simulating with numerical model. The numerical model having the same dimensions with the physical model is modeled with two different programs of ANSYS-Fluent and OpenFOAM. The flow depths of the models were measured at four points, H1, H2, H3, H4. In the numerical analysis, two different turbulence models, K-ε and K-ω SST turbulence model were used in order to investigate the accuracy of the turbulence models in the open channel. According to the results, R2 values, obtained from ANSYS- Fluent for the each measurement points where H1, H2, H3, H4, are 0.9776, 0.9859, 0.9701, 0.9916 and obtained from OpenFOAM for the each measurement points 0.9920, 0.9687, 0.9855, 0.9926 respectively. The findings show that the numerical tools have been sufficiently developed to simulate flow depths and water surface profiles.

Collagen (coll)-containing hydrogel films were prepared by mixing degraded collagen with monomers such as acrylamide (AAm), and 2-hydroxy ethylmethacrylate (HEMA) before the polymerization/cross-linking of composites as p(coll-co-AAm), and p(coll-co-HEMA), respectively. These materials were used as drug-delivery devices for potential wound dressing materials by loading and releasing of model drugs such as gallic acid (GA) and naproxen (NP). A linear release profile was obtained up to 32-h release from GA-loaded p(coll-co-AAm) interpenetrating polymeric networks films, and 36-h linear release profile of NP for p(coll-co-HEMA). Furthermore, metal nanoparticles such as Ag and Cu prepared within these hydrogel films offered antimicrobial characteristic against known common bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus.  相似文献
