Locating the faulty section of a high‐impedance fault (HIF) is quite challenging for the underground distribution network of a power system. The complexity of the distribution network, such as branches, nonhomogenous lines, and HIF, contributes to the difficulties in locating the faulty section. In this paper, the shortest distance (SD) technique and a database approach have been proposed to determine the faulty section. A multiresolution analysis based on discrete wavelet transforms is chosen to extract the unique features from voltage signals during the HIF event. The output coefficients from the decomposition process is stored in a database and used as the input data for the SD algorithm. The first, second, and third level of detailed coefficients of the post‐disturbance voltage signal were utilized for the identification of the faulty section using the proposed method. A ranking analysis was created to provide a number of possibilities of faulty section. In this paper, a 38‐node underground distribution network system in a national grid in Malaysia was modeled using the PSCAD software. An enhanced fault location method based on voltage sag profiles for distribution networks is presented in this paper. In other previous methods, only a single measurement has been used. The proposed method can be used with any number of measurements in the network, making it more general. A new ranking approach that addresses multiple possibilities of the faulted section is proposed. Different case studies with various numbers of measurements are performed on a large 11‐kV network with the main feeder consisting of 42 buses to validate the method. The test results show that there is an improvement in terms of accuracy in detecting the faulted section in the first attempt for each additional measurement. Therefore, by utilizing the average value of each measurement, a better accuracy of fault location can be achieved. © 2013 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. This paper presents an evolutionary particle swarm optimization (EPSO) method for solving the nonconvex economic load dispatch (ELD) problem. In practice, the nonconvex and the discontinuous cost function should be considered when optimizing ELD problem with constraints such as valve point effects, prohibited operating zones, ramp‐rate limits, and transmission loss of the system. In view of these constraints, the ELD problem is difficult to solve by any mathematical method. In EPSO, the evolutionary programming concept (combination, tournament competition, sorting, and selection) is employed in the classical PSO method in order to find the best individual and best group position based on the survival particle. The effectiveness of the EPSO is tested on 3‐, 6‐, 15‐, and 38‐unit systems. The results obtained by EPSO are also compared with classical PSO and other results reported in the literature. It is concluded that the EPSO method can produce lower generation cost compared to the existing methods. © 2013 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Hydro power generation is the oldest generation and provides the largest contribution among the renewable energy types of generation. In distribution system, most of the distributed generation (DG) is small scale hydro generation of which utilizes the natural flowing water of the river. This generation requires governor and excitation control unit to control and sustain the power generation when subjected to any changes of load behavior. More advanced control strategy is critically expected when considering the recent interest in distribution system to perform islanding operation of DG. Many of the literature have clearly highlighted this issue, but only a few have discussed on the islanding operation of small hydro generation. This paper therefore reviews this topic and relates the discussion with the controller designed for other type of turbines interfaced with synchronous generator. To strengthen the knowledge on islanding operation, the background of islanding is also presented in this paper.  相似文献

Evidence suggests that Lean, Six Sigma and Green approaches make a positive contribution to the economic, social and environmental (i.e. sustainability) performance of organisations. However, evidence also suggests that organisations have found their integration and implementation challenging. The purpose of this research is therefore to present a framework that methodically guides companies through a five stages and sixteen steps process to effectively integrate and implement the Green, Lean and Six Sigma approaches to improve their sustainability performance. To achieve this, a critical review of the existing literature in the subject area was conducted to build a research gap, and subsequently develop the methodological framework proposed. The paper presents the results from the application of the proposed framework in four organisations with different sizes and operating in a diverse range of industries. The results showed that the integration of Lean Six Sigma and Green helped the organisations to averagely reduce their resources consumption from 20 to 40% and minimise the cost of energy and mass streams by 7–12%. The application of the framework should be gradual, the companies should assess their weaknesses and strengths, set priorities, and identify goals for successful implementation. This paper is one of the very first researches that presents a framework to integrate Green and Lean Six Sigma at a factory level, and hence offers the potential to be expanded to multiple factories or even supply chains.  相似文献

This paper describes the implementation of reusability aspects in producing load-flow analysis software application. The reusability in the algorithm and codes are obtained by applying matrix partitioning approach for Newton method and sequential approach for Fast Decoupled method. The software is built by using component-based development and object oriented programming methodologies. These methodologies made the developed load-flow analysis software flexible for future enhancement. Adding and changing codes and algorithm of the software can be done without affecting much the existing codes and algorithms. By maximizing the reusability aspects, the cost and time of software maintenance for updating can be reduced.  相似文献

Electricity price forecasting (EPF) is important for energy system operations and management which include strategic bidding, generation scheduling, optimum storage reserves scheduling and systems analysis. Moreover, accurate EPF is crucial for the purpose of bidding strategies and minimizing the risk for market participants in the competitive electricity market. Nevertheless, accurate time-series prediction of electricity price is very challenging due to complex nonlinearity in the trend of electricity price. This work proposes a mid-term forecasting model based on the demand and price data, renewable and non-renewable energy supplies, the seasonality and peak and off-peak hours of working and non-working days. An optimized Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) which incorporates Bagged Regression Tree (BTE) is developed in the Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) architecture for the mid-term EPF. Tanh layer is employed to optimize the hyperparameters of the heterogeneous GRU with the aim to improve the model’s performance, error reduction and predict the spikes. In this work, the proposed framework is assessed using electricity market data of five major economical states in Australia by using electricity market data from August 2020 to May 2021. The results showed significant improvement when adopting the proposed prediction framework compared to previous works in forecasting the electricity price.  相似文献

Fault location for distribution networks with multiple laterals would requires additional information such as from fault indicators and protective devices. As SCADA systems to provide such information are limited in 11 kV or lower voltage distribution networks, effective fault location method that only use information from a measurement at primary substation is needed. This paper presents the application of calculated non-linear voltage sag profiles and voltage sag measurement at primary substation to locate a fault in distribution networks. The proposed method firstly identifies the faulted section. From the indentified section, fault distance is calculated. The method has been tested under different fault scenarios that include various fault resistance, loading variation and data measurement errors. The results indicate the possibility of using this method to support automatic fault management system.  相似文献

Dimensioning a current transformer (CT) is one of the most important tasks during the substation planning process. The installation of a correctly specified CT will ensure the integrity of the protection scheme. However, some parameters required for dimensioning a CT can be obtained only after the CT is installed in the substation. Because of the conflicting requirements, utility companies commonly adopt a simplified approach in compensating for the missing parameters. Two other methods for dimensioning CT under the given constraint during the planning stage have also been proposed by several authors. In view of the availability of the three methods of approximating CT specifications, this paper will conduct a comparative study to evaluate their accuracies. The approximated specifications of the CT during the planning stage are compared against those measured from a practical substation. Based on the findings from the comparative studies, the most reliable approach for CT dimensioning during the planning stage is proposed. © 2016 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
