There are very few countries that have provisions addressing the energy efficiency of the whole street lighting system, such as Spain or the Netherlands. Nevertheless, there is not an agreement about how energy efficiency must be assessed. The Spanish Government contemplates it in the Royal Decree 1890/2008 with the goal of improving energy savings and efficiency. However, this has not obtained the expected results. Nowadays, energy efficiency of this kind of systems is assessed using a label. In the case of Spain, this label only assesses one magnitude. The contributions of this paper are two evaluation systems (kiviat diagram and pie chart) which assess five magnitudes: lamps, energy efficiency index, light pollution, renewable energy contribution, and harness of the luminous flux using dimming. After that, a survey was done to study several subjects: (1) if citizens are aware about the efficiency of street lighting systems, (2) whether the sample of colors used in the label is adequate, and (3) if our proposed systems could replace the current evaluation system. Finally, the paper finishes with the conclusions of the survey.  相似文献

The effect of trace quantities of ammonia on oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) on carbon-supported platinum catalysts in perchloric acid solutions is assessed using rotating ring disk electrode (RRDE) technique. The study demonstrates that ammonia has detrimental effects on ORR. The most significant effect takes place in the potential region above 0.7 V vs RHE. The effect is explained by the electrochemical oxidation of ammonia, which blocks Pt active sites and increases the formation of H2O2. This leads to losses in the disk currents and increments in the ring currents. The apparent losses in ORR currents may occur in two ways, namely, through the blocking of the active sites for ORR as well as by generating a small anodic current, which is believed to have a lower contribution. In addition, a detrimental effect of sodium cations in the potential range below 0.75 V vs RHE was demonstrated. This effect is most likely due to the co-adsorption of sodium cations and perchlorate anions on the Pt surface.  相似文献

In the frame of the EU Coordination Action CONRAD (coordinated network for radiation dosimetry), WP4 was dedicated to work on computational dosimetry with an action entitled 'Uncertainty assessment in computational dosimetry: an intercomparison of approaches'. Participants attempted one or more of eight problems. This paper presents the results from problems 4-8-dealing with the overall uncertainty budget estimate; a short overview of each problem is presented together with a discussion of the most significant results and conclusions. The scope of the problems discussed here are: the study of a (137)Cs calibration irradiator; the manganese bath technique; the iron sphere experiment using neutron time-of-flight technique; the energy response of a RADFET detector and finally the sensitivity and uncertainty analysis for the recoil-proton telescope discussed in the companion paper.  相似文献

In this article, we study exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) charts for monitoring Weibull quantiles (percentiles) based on a monitoring statistic conditioned on ancillary statistics when samples may be Type II censored. The monitoring statistic has a distribution form that is intractable, but analytic forms of the density and distribution functions can be derived when it is conditioned on ancillary statistics. We use these results to develop EWMA control charts and, in certain cases, evaluate their average run length without resorting to simulations. We compare the average run length performance of the EWMA charts with those of probability‐limit charts, studied by the authors, and probability‐limit charts enhanced with Western Electric alarm rules. We apply the charts to the breaking strength of carbon fibers to detect shifts in a specific Weibull quantile. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Conclusion  This short note describes a potential application of grid computing in life sciences: high resolution structure determination of biological specimens by electron microscope tomography. It is shown there are excellent opportunities to benefit from grids: potential intensive applications to exploit the “high-throughput” and the “distributed supercomputing” capabilities of grids. Furthermore, grids may turn into reality solving problems not dared so far, such as structure determination of large viruses at near-atomic resolution or reconstruction of whole cells at molecular resolution. Grid computing will make it possible to afford those “grand challenge” applications currently unapproachable.  相似文献

Images of macromolecules obtained in the electron microscope are subjected to correspondence analysis. The structure inherent in the data in the resulting low-dimensional factor space is characterized by a mixed classification method which combines the dynamic clouds clustering technique with hierarchical ascendant classification (HAC). For our data, the rejection of marginal clusters obtained by dynamic clouds clustering appears as a crucial prerequisite for a stable performance of HAC. The method is applied to two sets of 204 and 177 images that show the 70S ribosome of Escherichia coli, in the range of overlap views as defined by A. Verschoor and co-workers, and to two sets of 480 and 496 images of the 50S subunit of E. coli depleted of L7/L12 proteins in the well-defined crown view. Reproducible classes are obtained, which are characterized by images reconstituted from factorial coordinates. These classes appear to be related to different orientations on the specimen grid (in the case of the 70S particle) and to different conformational states (50S subunit).  相似文献

The present contribution describes a potential application of Grid Computing in Bioinformatics. High resolution structure determination of biological specimens is critical in BioSciences to understanding the biological function. The problem is computational intensive. Distributed and Grid Computing are thus becoming essential. This contribution analyzes the use of Grid Computing and its potential benefits in the field of electron microscope tomography of biological specimens. Jose-Jesus Fernandez, Ph.D.: He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Granada, Spain, in 1992 and 1997, respectively. He was a Ph.D. student at the Bio-Computing unit of the National Center for BioTechnology (CNB) from the Spanish National Council of Scientific Research (CSIC), Madrid, Spain. He became an Assistant Professor in 1997 and, subsequently, Associate Professor in 2000 in Computer Architecture at the University of Almeria, Spain. He is a member of the supercomputing-algorithms research group. His research interests include high performance computing (HPC), image processing and tomography. Jose-Roman Bilbao-Castro: He received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the University of Almeria in 2001. He is currently a Ph.D. student at the BioComputing unit of the CNB (CSIC) through a Ph.D. CSIC-grant in conjuction with Dept. Computer Architecture at the University of Malaga (Spain). His current research interestsinclude tomography, HPC and distributed and grid computing. Roberto Marabini, Ph.D.: He received the M.Sc. (1989) and Ph.D. (1995) degrees in Physics from the University Autonoma de Madrid (UAM) and University of Santiago de Compostela, respectively. He was a Ph.D. student at the BioComputing Unit at the CNB (CSIC). He worked at the University of Pennsylvania and the City University of New York from 1998 to 2002. At present he is an Associate Professor at the UAM. His current research interests include inverse problems, image processing and HPC. Jose-Maria Carazo, Ph.D.: He received the M.Sc. degree from the Granada University, Spain, in 1981, and got his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the UAM in 1984. He left for Albany, NY, in 1986, coming back to Madrid in 1989 to set up the BioComputing Unit of the CNB (CSIC). He was involved in the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology as Deputy General Director for Research Planning. Currently, he keeps engaged in his activities at the CNB, the Scientific Park of Madrid and Integromics S.L. Immaculada Garcia, Ph.D.: She received her B.Sc. (1977) and Ph.D. (1986) degrees in Physics from the Complutense University of Madrid and University of Santiago de Compostela, respectively. From 1977 to 1987 she was an Assistant professor at the University of Granada, from 1987 to 1996 Associate professor at the University of Almeria and since 1997 she is a Full Professor and head of Dept. Computer Architecture. She is head of the supercomputing-algorithms research group.
