Improved Synthesis and Physicochemical Properties of Alkoxylated Inulin   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Inulin, a polydisperse reserve polysaccharide extracted from chicory, has been modified by alkoxylation in a water-free medium using a basic catalyst. The reaction of inulin with ethylene oxide, as well as propylene oxide, was performed in an organic solvent, N-methylpyrrolidinone, with triethylamine as basic catalyst in almost quantitative yields. The reaction resulted in a range of products with very specific properties such as highly increased water solubility, moderate surface activities and very high cloud points in electrolyte media.  相似文献

Long COVID (LC) describes the clinical phenotype of symptoms after infection with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Diagnostic and therapeutic options are limited, as the pathomechanism of LC is elusive. As the number of acute SARS-CoV-2 infections was and is large, LC will be a challenge for the healthcare system. Previous studies revealed an impaired blood flow, the formation of microclots, and autoimmune mechanisms as potential factors in this complex interplay. Since functionally active autoantibodies against G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR-AAbs) were observed in patients after SARS-CoV-2 infection, this study aimed to correlate the appearance of GPCR-AAbs with capillary microcirculation. The seropositivity of GPCR-AAbs was measured by an established cardiomyocyte bioassay in 42 patients with LC and 6 controls. Retinal microcirculation was measured by OCT–angiography and quantified as macula and peripapillary vessel density (VD) by the Erlangen-Angio Tool. A statistical analysis yielded impaired VD in patients with LC compared to the controls, which was accentuated in female persons. A significant decrease in macula and peripapillary VD for AAbs targeting adrenergic β2-receptor, MAS-receptor angiotensin-II-type-1 receptor, and adrenergic α1-receptor were observed. The present study might suggest that a seropositivity of GPCR-AAbs can be linked to an impaired retinal capillary microcirculation, potentially mirroring the systemic microcirculation with consecutive clinical symptoms.  相似文献

Spectral-based image endmember extraction methods hinge on the ability to discriminate between pixels based on spectral characteristics alone. Endmembers with distinct spectral features (high spectral contrast) are easy to select, whereas those with minimal unique spectral information (low spectral contrast) are more problematic. Spectral contrast, however, is dependent on the endmember assemblage, such that as the assemblage changes so does the “relative” spectral contrast of each endmember to all other endmembers. It is then possible for an endmember to have low spectral contrast with respect to the full image, but have high spectral contrast within a subset of the image. The spatial-spectral endmember extraction tool (SSEE) works by analyzing a scene in parts (subsets), such that we increase the spectral contrast of low contrast endmembers, thus improving the potential for these endmembers to be selected. The SSEE method comprises three main steps: 1) application of singular value decomposition (SVD) to determine a set of basis vectors that describe most of the spectral variance for subsets of the image; 2) projection of the full image data set onto the locally defined basis vectors to determine a set of candidate endmember pixels; and, 3) imposing spatial constraints for averaging spectrally similar endmembers, allowing for separation of endmembers that are spectrally similar, but spatially independent. The SSEE method is applied to two real hyperspectral data sets to demonstrate the effects of imposing spatial constraints on the selection of endmembers. The results show that the SSEE method is an effective approach to extracting image endmembers. Specific improvements include the extraction of physically meaningful, low contrast endmembers that occupy unique image regions.  相似文献

Comparison of hydraulic and chemical properties of sediments from flush- and core drillings in the area of Peine (Germany). Because of financial constraints, investigations of nitrate metabolism are often based on disturbed borehole samples. It is arguable, however, whether disturbed samples are suitable for these types of investigations. Disadvantages of disturbed samples in comparison to undisturbed core samples are well known and include possible contamination of the sample by mud additives, destruction of the sediment formation and the insecurity concerning the correct depth allocation. In this study, boreholes were drilled at three locations to a maximum depth of 50?m. The extracted samples, as intact sediment cores and drill cuttings, were studied with regard to chemical and hydraulic parameters of the aquifer sediments. The results show: 1. hydraulic parameters are not affected by clay-based mud; 2. disturbed samples contain less fine grain material relative to the core samples, and the hydraulic conductivity can only be estimated from catch samples; 3. catch samples contain fewer reducing agents (sulphides, organic carbon) than core samples in hydraulically passive zones (defined as K < 10–6?m?·?s–1); 4. the results of analyses of disturbed and undisturbed core samples are in good agreement for hydraulically active zones (K ≥ 10–6?m?·?s–1).  相似文献

Thermally activated subthreshold transport has been investigated in undoped triple-gate MOSFETs. The evolution of the barrier height and of the active cross-sectional area of the channel as a function of gate voltage has been determined. The results of our experiments and of the tight-binding simulations we have developed are both in good agreement with previous analytical calculations, confirming the validity of the thermionic approach to investigate transport in FETs. This method provides an important tool for the improvement of device characteristics.   相似文献

Concrete spalling due to fire exposure is often defined as the sudden detachment of fragments from a concrete surface. It can be quantified by various parameters of which weight loss and spalling depth are the most common ones. The risk of spalling is influenced by many factors such as concrete composition, heating rate and applied testing methods. A reduced scale testing method should be developed to analyse the spalling behaviour and to understand its effectiveness in more detail. As a subsection of this development, this study aimed to analyse the effect of different‐sized, circular heated areas in semi full‐scale fire tests. Therefore, vermiculite slabs with varying cut‐outs in their centre were placed between a specimen made of a spalling‐sensitive concrete and the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber was heated following a standard fire curve. Our experimental results show that the thermal expansion inside of equal‐sized specimens is strongly dependent on the size of the heated area. In addition, this area also affects thermal stresses. They decrease as a result of lower temperature gradients for tests with smaller unheated boundary areas. Apart from this, the analysis of fragments shows no correlation between their relative volume distribution and the heated area. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This study analyzes the age profile of scientific employees and its relation to personnel costs and scientific productivity within eight faculties at the University of Vienna. The age demography can overall be divided into two main categories: Category one faculties represent an increased number of younger aged researchers (Catholic-, Protestant Theology, Law, Economics, Information Sciences, and Medicine), category two faculties show an increased number of older aged researchers (Social Sciences, Humanities, and Science). In addition, it can be demonstrated that the personnel costs for full professors are higher within four faculties (Catholic-, Protestant Theology, Law, and Economics and Information Sciences). Inevitably, this leads to savings for habilitated and non- habilitated researchers at these faculties. The faculty of Medicine represents a well-balanced use of personnel costs. Three faculties (Social Sciences, Humanities, and Sciences) have to pay dramatically more for their older aged habilitated and non-habilitated personnel. For the entire university and two faculties, Medicine and Humanities, a positive and significant relationship between age and the average weekly teaching performance is shown. This study suggests that institutions with a high percentage of older researchers, mainly in the categories of habilitated and non- habilitated personnel, must change their policy to become more flexible and attractive for new talented young people. Due to the fact, that this cannot only be realized through the introduction of new laws, each faculty must establish a scientific plan combined with reorganizations of the personnel structure and personnel costs.
