Morphology and deformation behavior of binary blends comprising styrene/butadiene block copolymers (polystyrene content, ΦPS∼0.70) having different molecular architectures were studied by means of transmission electron microscopy and tensile testing. In contrast to the binary diblock copolymer blends discussed in literature, the phase separation behavior of the blends investigated was found to be strongly affected by asymmetric molecular architecture. The blends showed macrophase separated grains, in which the structures resembled the microphase morphology of none of the blend components. Unlike the classical rubber-modified or particle-filled thermoplastics, neither debonding at the particle/matrix interface nor the particle cavitation was observed in these nanostructured blends. The microdeformation of the blends revealed plastic drawing of polystyrene lamellae or PS struts dispersed in rubbery matrix and orientation of the whole deformation structures along the strain direction.  相似文献

The skew normal distribution, proposed by Azzalini (1985, A class of distributions which include the normal. Scand J Stat 12:171–178), can be a suitable model for the analysis of data exhibiting a unimodal density having some skewness present, a structure often occurring in data analysis. It has been observed that there are some practical problems in estimating the skewness parameter for small to moderate sample sizes. In this paper we point out those problems and propose another skewed model which we call “Power normal model”. The basic structural properties of the proposed model including its reliability properties are presented. The closeness of skew normal and power normal distributions is investigated. It is shown that the proposed model has some nice properties which make it feasible to study the estimation and testing of the skewness parameter. This can be achieved by transforming the data to the exponential model which has been studied extensively in the literature.   相似文献

This study aimed at assessing the probiotic potential of two high folate producing Streptococcus thermophilus strains (RD102 and RD104) isolated from Indian fermented milk products by both in vitro and in vivo tests. These strains were able to survive at pH 2.5 and 2% bile with a good bile salt hydrolase activity, cell surface hydrophobicity and sensitivity to most of the clinically important antibiotics. On evaluation for gastrointestinal transit tolerance these showed a viable count of 5 log cfu mL?1 and 7 log cfu mL?1, respectively in simulated gastrointestinal juice of pH 2.0 and 2% bile. During the in vivo feeding trial in mice the strains showed a viable count of about 7 log cfu g?1 faeces and 6 log cfu g?1 of large intestine, respectively. These strains were hence observed to possess favorable strain specific probiotic properties and have the potential to be a source of novel probiotics.  相似文献

The thermal stability of aluminised coatings on Fe-alloys containing Ni, Si and Cr and of chromised coatings on Fe-alloys containing Ni and Si has been studied. The results indicate that thermal stability is affected mainly by phase equilibria and diffusion paths have been plotted on the appropriate ternary diagrams.  相似文献

Sodium lauryl sulphate (NaLS), tetradecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (TTAB) and Brij-35 were used in a photogalvanic cell containing azur A as a photosensitizer and glucose as a reductant for solar energy conversion and storage. The photopotential and photocurrent generated by the cell in the presence of NaLS were 811.0 mV and 1470 μA, respectively. The effect of variation of the concentrations of the surfactants on the electrical output, the fill factor, the conversion efficiency and the performance of the cell in the dark was studied in detail.  相似文献

Multifunctional polymer nanoconjugates containing multiple components show great promise in cancer therapy, but in most cases complete analysis of each component is difficult. Polymalic acid (PMLA) based nanoconjugates have demonstrated successful brain and breast cancer treatment. They consist of multiple components including targeting antibodies, Morpholino antisense oligonucleotides (AONs), and endosome escape moieties. The component analysis of PMLA nanoconjugates is extremely difficult using conventional spectrometry and HPLC method. Taking advantage of the nature of polyester of PMLA, which can be cleaved by ammonium hydroxide, we describe a method to analyze the content of antibody and AON within nanoconjugates simultaneously using SEC-HPLC by selectively cleaving the PMLA backbone. The selected cleavage conditions only degrade PMLA without affecting the integrity and biological activity of the antibody. Although the amount of antibody could also be determined using the bicinchoninic acid (BCA) method, our selective cleavage method gives more reliable results and is more powerful. Our approach provides a new direction for the component analysis of polymer nanoconjugates and nanoparticles.  相似文献

In this work, the production of dextran was carried out in whey‐supplemented media using Leuconostoc mesenteroides BA08. Different growth and nutritional parameters were optimised to maximise the dextran production. Batch production in whey‐based media under optimised nutritional and growth conditions yielded a dextran concentration of 17.25 g/L. Structural analysis of the purified polymer by FT‐IR, 1D 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance methodology revealed that polymer was a linear dextran having 93% α‐(1→6) linkage in the main chain. The morphology of the dried dextran and dextran‐producing cells was also studied by scanning electron microscope which showed a granular and porous or weblike structure, respectively. The results obtained showed that the industrial whey supplemented with nutrients such as sucrose, yeast extract and K2HPO4 can serve as an ideal growth medium for dextran production. The optimised fermentation and nutritional parameters can be further scaled up to establish the potential for the commercial production of food‐grade dextran from whey as part of a novel cost‐effective and environment‐friendly approach.  相似文献

Many of the artifacts of conventional electron microscopy can be avoided if the unstained polymers are studied by electron holography and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Holograms of thin sections (50–70 nm) of organic block copolymers were recorded, and the corresponding phase images were reconstructed. In this way, typical structures such as lamellae and cylinders could be imaged without any staining. In addition, we successfully recorded holograms and performed Lorentz microscopy of an impact‐modified polystyrene (high‐impact polystyrene). The results were compared with the tapping mode AFM phase images. Electron holography and AFM have been demonstrated as suitable tools to image unstained heterogeneous polymers, leading to the understanding of their structure. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The photoreduction of aqueous sodium and potassium carbonates has been carried out in the presence of methylene blue solution (which is a photocatalyst also). The photocatalytic formation of formic acid and formaldehyde were measured spectrophotometrically using Nash reagent. The effect of variation of various parameters like pH, amount of photocatalyst (methylene blue concentration), concentration of Na2CO3 and K2CO3, light intensity, etc. on the yield of photoproducts was also investigated.
