The production of hydrogen, a favourable alternative to an unsustainable fossil fuel remains as a significant hurdle with the pertaining challenge in the design of proficient, highly productive and sustainable electrocatalyst for both oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, the dysprosium (Dy) doped copper oxide (Cu1-xDyxO) nanoparticles were synthesized via solution combustion technique and utilized as a non-noble metal based bi-functional electrocatalyst for overall water splitting. Due to the improved surface to volume ratio and conductivity, the optimized Cu1-xDyxO (x = 0.01, 0.02) electrocatalysts exhibited impressive HER and OER performance respectively in 1 M KOH delivering a current density of 10 mAcm?2 at a potential of ?0.18 V vs RHE for HER and 1.53 V vs RHE for OER. Moreover, the Dy doped CuO electrocatalyst used as a bi-functional catalyst for overall water splitting achieved a potential of 1.56 V at a current density 10 mAcm?2 and relatively high current density of 66 mAcm?2 at a peak potential of 2 V. A long term stability of 24 h was achieved for a cell voltage of 2.2 V at a constant current density of 30 mAcm?2 with only 10% of the initial current loss. This showcases the accumulative opportunity of dysprosium as a dopant in CuO nanoparticles for fabricating a highly effective and low-cost bi-functional electrocatalyst for overall water splitting.  相似文献

A historical review of licensing among industrial/organizational (I/O) psychologists demonstrates that the American Psychological Association (APA) policy on such licensing is inconsistent. Arguments for and against licensure for this group are presented. Job analysis and APA data are drawn upon to show that few I/O activities may pose the personal risk that would seem to require the protection of a license. An analysis is presented of longitudinal waves in a thin elastic column. Velocity is specified at one end, and the boundary condition at the other end is expressed in terms of a range of effective impedances of an attached structure. Propagation, reflection and interference of the waves are followed by the method of characteristics. Integration of differential equations along characteristics yields the wave-induced stress, which is then applied to problems of earthquake excitation. Numerical examples are given for recorded updown ground motion of the Kobe Earthquake.  相似文献

A facile method was developed to quantify unreacted ketene acetals during polymerization of poly(ortho ester)s. The method was based on isotopic (deuterium) labeling of the unreacted ketene acetal groups arising from the diketene acetal monomer, 3,9-diethylidene-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5,5]undecane (DETOSU). In deuterium oxide, free ketene acetals are hydrolyzed to an α-deuterated ester; ortho ester bonds are hydrolyzed to the nondeuterated analog. The relative abundance of the deuterated ester side chain can be quantified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). In the current method, aliquots of a diketene acetal/polyol(s) reaction mixture were dissolved (crosslinked polymers swollen) in methylene chloride and excess D2O. The diketene acetal/polyol(s) reaction mixture was hydrolyzed under mildly acidic conditions to yield pentaerythritol dipropionate (PDP; hydrolysis product of DETOSU). PDP was extracted into an organic phase, silylated, and analyzed by GC-MS. Fragments corresponding to the C2H5C?O+ ion (57 a.m.u.) and C2H4DC?O+ ion (58 a. m. u.) were monitored and the quantity of free ketene acetal groups were calculated from the peak areas of the chromatograms. The precision of the method was ±0.1%. The accuracy, as compared to a parallel 1H-NMR study, was within 5%. This method permits determination of the cure end-point of a poly(ortho ester) polymerization reaction to within ±0.25%. The curing kinetics agreed well with DSC branching/crosslinking measurements. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To study the interaction of interleukin-1alpha (IL-1alpha) and oncostatin M (OSM) in promoting cartilage collagen destruction. METHODS: Bovine, porcine, and human cartilage and human chondrocytes were studied in culture. The levels of collagenase (matrix metalloproteinase 1 [MMP-1]) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1 (TIMP-1) were measured by bioassay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The levels of OSM in rheumatoid synovial fluid were measured by ELISA. RESULTS: When combined with OSM, IL-1alpha, IL-1beta, and tumor necrosis factor alpha released proteoglycan and collagen from cartilage. OSM was the only member of the IL-6 family to have this effect. Human tendon also responded to IL-1alpha and OSM. OSM increased the production of MMP-1 and TIMP-1 but when combined with IL-1alpha, synergistically promoted MMP-1 production in human chondrocytes and synovial fibroblasts. High levels of OSM were found in human rheumatoid synovial fluids, and confocal microscopy showed that OSM was produced by macrophages in rheumatoid synovial tissue. CONCLUSION: These results highlight an important new mechanism by which there is irreversible loss of collagen from cartilage.  相似文献
