The preparation of a SiC coating on a carbon fiber surface using a sol-gel mixture of tetraethyl orthosilicat (TEOS) and phenolic resin was studied. FTIR and SEM investigations indicated that the SiC coating can be formed by carbothermal reduction of the sol-gel mixture at 1420°C for 15–20 min in an argon atmosphere. TGA of the coated fiber was also performed, showing that the SiC coating improves the thermooxidative stability of the carbon fiber. With the thickness of the obtained coating of 0.47 μm using a C/Si ratio of 4, this treatment does not affect the carbon fiber strength.  相似文献

Two wet chemical preparation methods are described for yttria-doped tetragonal zirconia powders. Both methods yield powders with an extremely small crystallite size (8 nm) and a narrow size distribution. The agglomerate and aggregate structure of these powders have been investigated by several techniques. Gel precipitation from an alkoxide solution in water (alkoxide synthesis) results in a ceramic powder with irregular-shaped weak and porous agglomerates, which are built up from dense aggregates with a size of 18 nm. Gel precipitates formed from a metal-chloride solution in ammonia (chloride synthesis) do not contain aggregates. Both types of agglomerate are fractured during isostatic compaction. Hydrolysis and washing under (strong) basic conditions probably decrease the degree of aggregation. The aggregate morphology and structure are key parameters in the microstructure development during sintering of a ceramic. Several characteristics of these powders are compared with those of a commerical one (Toyo Soda TZ3Y).  相似文献

The surface- and grain boundary composition of Y, Ce and Ti doped zirconia were studied by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Auger Electron Spectroscopy/Scanning Auger Microscopy. The grain boundaries and free surfaces showed the same enrichment levels. After heat treatment 1000 C all yttria doped samples showed yttrium enrichment. In the ZrO2-Y2O3 system the yttrium enrichment did not depend on the bulk concentration and amounted 30–34 mol% YO1.5 in all cases. As a consequence the segregation factor increases with decreasing solute concentration in the bulk. The thickness of the segregation layer was about 2–4 nm. In the ternary Y doped systems yttrium is the main segregant. In ceria-doped tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (Ce-TZP) systems significant segregation of cerium starts atT1300C and is mainly attributed to Ce3+. In Y,Ti-TZP systems also strong segregation of Ti4+ occurs. The absolute value of the increase of the surface concentration in fine grained material is smaller than in coarse grained material. This is mainly due to depletion of the bulk.  相似文献

The effect of different organoclays and mixing methods on the cure kinetics and properties of epoxy nanocomposites based on Epon828 and Epicure3046 was studied. The two kinds of organoclay used in this study, both based on natural montmorillonite but differing in intercalant chemistry, were I.30E (Nanomer I.30E—treated with a long‐chain primary amine intercalant) and C.30B (Cloisite 30B—treated with a quaternary ammonium intercalant, less reactive with epoxy than the primary amine). The two mixing processes used to prepare the nanocomposites were (i) a room‐temperature process, in which the clay and epoxy are mixed at room temperature, and (ii) a high‐temperature process, in which the clay and epoxy are mixed at 120°C for 1 h by means of mechanical mixing. The nanocomposites were cured at room temperature and at high temperature. The quality of dispersion and intercalation/exfoliation were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X‐ray diffraction. The heat evolution of the epoxy resin formulation and its nanocomposite systems was measured using differential scanning calorimetry at different heating rates of 2.5, 5, 10, 15, and 20°C min?1. The cure kinetics of these systems was modeled by means of different approaches. Kissinger and isoconversional models were used to calculate the kinetics parameters while the Avrami model was utilized to compare the cure behavior of the epoxy systems. The cure kinetics and mechanical properties were found to be influenced by the presence of nanoclay, by the type of intercalant, and by the mixing method. POLYM. ENG. Distributed simulation has emerged as an important instrument for studying large-scale complex systems. Such systems inherently consist of a large number of components, which operate in a large shared state space interacting with it in highly dynamic and unpredictable ways. Optimising access to the shared state space is crucial for achieving efficient simulation executions. Data accesses may take two forms: locating data according to a set of attribute value ranges (range query) or locating a particular state variable from the given identifier (ID query and update). This paper proposes two alternative routing approaches, namely the address-based approach, which locates data according to their address information, and the range-based approach, whose operation is based on looking up attribute value range information along the paths to the destinations. The two algorithms are discussed and analysed in the context of PDES-MAS, a framework for the distributed simulation of multi-agent systems, which uses a hierarchical infrastructure to manage the shared state space. The paper introduces a generic meta-simulation framework which is used to perform a quantitative comparative analysis of the proposed algorithms under various circumstances.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: We previously showed that in asphyxiated fetal lambs the duration of hypotension correlated well with the severity of histologic damage to the brain, whereas the duration of bradycardia did not. This study compares fetal heart rate patterns with the degree of histologic damage to the brain. STUDY DESIGN: Twelve chronically instrumented near-term fetal lambs were subjected to asphyxia by umbilical cord occlusion until fetal arterial pH was <6. 9 and base excess was <-20 mEq/L. An additional 4 fetuses served as sham-asphyxia controls. Fetal heart rate (from electrocardiogram), arterial blood pressure, fetal breathing movements, and electrocorticogram were continuously monitored before, during, and for 72 hours after asphyxia. Fetal brain histologic features were categorized as mild (group 1, n = 5), moderate (group 2, n = 4), and severe (group 3, n = 3). Long-term fetal heart rate variability expressed as amplitude range was assessed visually every 5 minutes from 30 minutes before asphyxia until 2 hours of recovery and at 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours of recovery. RESULTS: Long-term fetal heart rate variability amplitude decreased from 32 +/- 17 beats/min (mean +/- SEM) preocclusion to 4 +/- 13 beats/min at the end of occlusion (P <.001) without significant differences among the 3 groups. During 10 to 45 minutes of recovery, the long-term variability of group 1 was significantly greater than that of groups 2 and 3. At 24 to 72 hours of recovery, the long-term variability of groups 1 and 2 was significantly higher than that of group 3, which was almost 0. The "checkmark" and sinusoidal fetal heart rate patterns were observed during the recovery period in groups 2 and 3. CONCLUSIONS: Decreased long-term fetal heart rate variability and the "checkmark" and sinusoidal fetal heart rate patterns were indicators of the severity of asphyxial histologic damage in the fetal brain.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to gauge the effect of an artificially established flora, unnatural for mice, on the induction of oral candidosis in mice. Four groups of BALB/c mice were compared; conventional Candida albicans-free mice, "germ-free" mice which had been inoculated with Candida-free human saliva, germ-free mice which had been exposed to a cocktail of Streptococcus mitis, S. sobrinus and S. sanguis, and uncontaminated germ-free mice. After exposure to C. albicans via drinking water, the four groups of mice were killed and their oral cavities examined for candidal growth and oral lesions. Conventional mice yielded significantly less candidal growth and exhibited significantly fewer oral lesions than the other three groups. Candidal lesions in the two groups of contaminated germ-free mice were significantly fewer than in the uncontaminated germ-free mice. The latter exhibited extensive candidal lesions with little inflammatory infiltrate. It is concluded that mice with human oral micro-organisms have some resistance against candidal infection albeit at a reduced level, that mice with natural oral flora are highly resistant, and that germ-free mice are extremely susceptible to C. albicans infection.  相似文献

CSMA is the predominant distributed access protocol for wireless mesh networks. Originally designed for single-hop settings, CSMA can exhibit severe performance problems in multi-hop networks in terms of stability and end-to-end throughput. To ensure a smoother flow of packets, we examine an enhancement referred to as Extra Back-off (EB) flow control. In this enhanced scheme a node remains silent for a certain extra back-off time (imposed on top of the usual back-off time that is part of CSMA) after it has transmitted a packet, to give both the downstream and upstream neighbors the opportunity to transmit. EB flow control entails only a small modification to CSMA, preserving its distributed character. In order to examine the performance of EB flow control, we analyze a novel class of Markov models at the interface between classical tandem queues and interacting particle systems. The results demonstrate that EB flow control provides an effective mechanism for improving the end-to-end throughput performance.  相似文献
