Effect of residual stress generated during tube fabrication, roll expansion and machining of stainless steel on the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility was studied by testing fabricated tubes, tube–tube sheet joint and heavily machined plate of austenitic stainless steel (SS) in boiling MgCl2. U bend samples of machined plate were exposed to acidified SO4 + Cl? environment at room temperature to study its ambient temperature SCC behavior. The results correlate the SCC behavior of the SS tubes and roll expanded joints to the nature and magnitude of residual stresses present. The study also highlights the distinct difference in ambient temperature SCC behavior of machined vs. nonmachined surfaces.  相似文献

Polypropylene (PP) was blended with branched polyethylenimine (PEI) with the aim to prepare blends having CO2 adsorption property. The CO2 adsorption properties will be conferred due to the presence of variety of amine functionality in PEI. PEI contains primary, secondary as well as tertiary amine groups. Before testing CO2 adsorption, PP–PEI blends were characterized using variety of techniques, for example, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic mechanical analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and polarized light optical microscopy. In this work, we have studied in detail both compatibilized as well as noncompatibilized blends of PP and PEI. The compatibilization was achieved via addition of maleic anhydride grafted PP. Finally, all the compatibilized as well as noncompatibilized blends were studied for CO2 adsorption. The compatibilized blends showed better thermal, mechanical as well as CO2 adsorption properties as compared to the noncompatibilized blends. POLYM. ENG. This paper considers the Stochastic Queue Center problem, which seeks to locate a single facility with a center-type objective in an M/G/1 queue operating environment. The objective function that we consider is to minimize a positive weighted linear function of the square of the average response time and the variance of the response time to a call. The Stochastic Queue Center problem is discussed on both a discrete and a network location topology. When potential facility locations are restricted to a finite set of discrete points, an efficient algorithm is developed to solve for the optimal facility location parametrically in the arrival rate. By exploiting convexity properties of the objective function, we develop an efficient finite-step algorithm to find the Stochastic Queue Center on a network. The major conclusion of this work is that incorporating the variance term in the objective function has a major impact on the choice of the optimal location. We illustrate the results with an example drawn from a potential application of the model for locating an emergency transport center serving different municipalities in Camden County, NJ.  相似文献

This paper presents a conceptual design of a solar powered hydrogen fueling station for a single family home in Wallingford, Connecticut, USA. Sixty high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) solar panels (Total capacity: 18.9 kW) account for approximately 94.7% of the hydrogen home’s power consumption. The fueling station consists of a 165 bar high pressure electrolyzer for on-site production of 2.24 kg/day of hydrogen, three-bank cascade configuration storage tanks (4.26 kg of H2 at 350 bar) and a SAE J2600 compliant hydrogen nozzle. The system produces 0.8 kg/day of hydrogen for a fuel cell vehicle with an average commute of 56 km/day (Fuel mileage: 71 km/kg H2). Safety codes and standards applicable at the facility are described, and a well-to-wheel analysis is performed to contrast the carbon dioxide emissions of conventional gasoline and fuel cell vehicles. The energy efficiency obtained by incorporating a solar-hydrogen system for residential applications is also computed.  相似文献

The present paper reports the thermal equilibration in selenium- and sulphur-doped hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin films deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapour deposition. The conductivity of Se- and S-doped a-Si:H is observed to be very sensitive to the rate at which the samples are cooled following the high temperature anneal. Arrhenius plots of conductivity for various doped films revealed thermal equilibration above the equilibration temperature, T E, thus accounting for larger activation energies. The barrier energy is lower for a-Si,Se:H than for a-Si,S:H, due to a higher defect density in S-doped films.  相似文献

The extent of incorporating Eu3+ and Tb3+ for bismuth in the oxygen-deficient fluorite structured Bi0.50Th0.50Oy has been examined together with the comprehension of their luminescence characteristics. The samples were synthesized by solution combustion method from which doping limits of Eu3+ and Tb3+, respectively, in the fluorite structure was determined. Uniform distribution of constituent elements was confirmed from elemental mapping. Doping Eu3+ and Tb3+-ions introduced compressive strain and oxygen vacancies in the system. Raman spectra of doped samples confirmed the fluorite structure and revealed the existence of oxygen vacancies in them. While Tb-doped samples showed a systematic decrease in band gap with increase in dopant concentration, such systematic variation was not observed for Eu-doped samples. Conclusions about the local site symmetry around Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions in the defect fluorite structure have been drawn from the photoluminescent spectral analysis of doped samples. Energy transfer from Bi3+ to Eu3+ and Tb3+-has been observed in these samples. The Judd-Ofelt analysis has been carried out to understand luminescence characteristics in these samples.  相似文献

Vitamin A-rich maize hybrids provide sustainable solutions to malnutrition. However, significant loss of carotenoids during storage reduces its efficacy. Grains of nine sub-tropically adapted crtRB1-based biofortified hybrids along with six normal hybrids were stored under conventional storage for five months. PVAC (β-carotene and β-cryptoxanthin) among crtRB1-based hybrids degraded from initial level of 18.77 to 3.24 µg g−1, while NPVAC (lutein and zeaxanthin) reduced to 10.79 µg g−1 from 19.00 µg g−1 during storage. Among PVAC, β-cryptoxanthin (21.8%) possessed more stability than β-carotene (16.4%). For NPVAC, lutein (61.2%) showed the highest retention than zeaxanthin (50.4%). Majority of the PVAC loss occurred within first three months of storage. Retention for PVAC among crtRB1-based hybrids varied from 14% to 23% indicating the role of favourable genetic factors. APQH1, APQH7 and APH2 were the promising hybrids with higher retention (>20%) of PVAC. This is the first report on identification of provitamin A-rich crtRB1-based biofortified maize hybrids with higher retention during sub-tropical storage.  相似文献

The rise in milk adulteration and contamination, fraud incidents and improper handling necessitates effective traceability systems in the Indian dairy industry. Thus, this review investigates current trends, associated challenges, traceability and its fundamental applications to address food safety and quality issues. The paper covers the evolution of milk adulteration and contamination detection techniques from conventional to emerging. Such information and analytical technologies can improve transparency and safety in the dairy industry by implementing effective traceability systems.
