Summary Temperature dependence of viscosity data was investigated on poly(butyl methacrylate) fractions in dilute solution. A discontinuity in intrinsic viscosity was observed in the 25°C–35°C temperature range. Sharp changes of unperturbed dimensions were visualized from this behaviour. The phenomenon can be accounted for by assuming conformational changes of the chain in different solvents. 相似文献

Sequential learning is the discipline of machine learning that deals with dependent data such that neighboring labels exhibit some kind of relationship. The paper main contribution is two-fold: first, we generalize the stacked sequential learning, highlighting the key role of neighboring interactions modeling. Second, we propose an effective and efficient way of capturing and exploiting sequential correlations that takes into account long-range interactions. We tested the method on two tasks: text lines classification and image pixel classification. Results on these tasks clearly show that our approach outperforms the standard stacked sequential learning as well as state-of-the-art conditional random fields. 相似文献

The spectroscopic properties of Ho3+ laser channels in KGd(WO4)2 crystals have been investigated using optical absorption, photoluminescence, and lifetime measurements. The radiative lifetimes of Ho3+ have been calculated through a Judd-Ofelt (JO) formalism using 300-K optical absorption results. The JO parameters obtained were Ω2=15.35×10-20 cm2, Ω 4=3.79×10-20 cm2, Ω6 =1.69×10-20 cm2. The 7-300-K lifetimes obtained in diluted (8·1018 cm-3) KGW:0.1% Ho samples are: τ(5F3)≈0.9 μs, τ( 5S2)=19-3.6 μs, and τ(5F5 )≈1.1 μs. For Ho concentrations below 1.5×1020 cm-3, multiphonon emission is the main source of non radiative losses, and the temperature independent multiphonon probability in KGW is found to follow the energy gap law τph -1(0)=βexp(-αΔE), where β=1.4×10-7 s-1, and α=1.4×103 cm. Above this holmium concentration, energy transfer between Ho impurities also contributes to the losses. The spectral distributions of the Ho3+ emission cross section σEM for several laser channels are calculated in σ- and π-polarized configurations. The peak a σEM values achieved for transitions to the 5I8 level are ≈2×10-20 cm2 in the σ-polarized configuration, and three main lasing peaks at 2.02, 2.05, and 2.07 μm are envisaged inside the 5I7→5I8 channel 相似文献

Vulnerable plaques are the major cause of carotid and coronary vascular problems, such as heart attack or stroke. A correct modeling of plaque echomorphology and composition can help the identification of such lesions. The Rayleigh distribution is widely used to describe (nearly) homogeneous areas in ultrasound images. Since plaques may contain tissues with heterogeneous regions, more complex distributions depending on multiple parameters are usually needed, such as Rice, K or Nakagami distributions. In such cases, the problem formulation becomes more complex, and the optimization procedure to estimate the plaque echomorphology is more difficult. Here, we propose to model the tissue echomorphology by means of a mixture of Rayleigh distributions, known as the Rayleigh mixture model (RMM). The problem formulation is still simple, but its ability to describe complex textural patterns is very powerful. In this paper, we present a method for the automatic estimation of the RMM mixture parameters by means of the expectation maximization algorithm, which aims at characterizing tissue echomorphology in ultrasound (US). The performance of the proposed model is evaluated with a database of in vitro intravascular US cases. We show that the mixture coefficients and Rayleigh parameters explicitly derived from the mixture model are able to accurately describe different plaque types and to significantly improve the characterization performance of an already existing methodology. 相似文献

In the present work the composition of apple liqueurs has been analysed, since the consumption of these beverages in Spain has increased during the last years. Twenty-five samples, belonging to the most representative five brands of the Spanish market have been analysed. The following determinations were carried out: alcoholic grade, total acidity, methanol, furfurol, dry extract, reducing sugars, sucrose, ash contact, macroelements (Na, K, Ca, Mg) and microelements (Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn). These parameters enable the quality evaluation of these beverages and contribute to their characterization with respect to the fruit used in their elaboration. To complete the experimental study, a BMDP 7M discriminant statistical analysis has been applied to the results obtained. The variables that best discriminate the groups have been determined and all the samples have been classified and differentiated.
Analytisches Studium der Apfelsaftliköre
Zusammenfassung Es wurde die Zusammensetzung von Apfelsaftlikören analysiert, weil diese Getränke öfter in Spanien getrunken werden. Fünfundzwanzig Proben von fünf bestimmten, spanischen Markengetränken wurden analysiert. Es wurden folgende Bestimmungen ausgeführt: Alkoholkonzentration, Gehalt an Säure, Methanol, Extrakt, Zucker, Sucrose, Asche, Macroelemente (Na, K, Ca, Mg) und Mikroelemente (Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn). Diese Parameter erlauben die Qualität dieser Getränke zu schätzen und ihre Charakterisierung auf Grund des Fruchtgehaltes. Weiterhin wurde eine BMDP 7M diskriminant-statistische Analyse der Resultate angewandt. Die diskriminant-Variablen der Gruppe wurden bestimmt und alle Proben konnten klassifiziert und unterschieden werden.相似文献

Background
This study was designed to separate the association of age, sex and helmet use with the risk of death for occupants of two-wheeled motor vehicles (TWMV) involved in crashes into its two theoretical components: severity of the crash and occupant resilience.Methods
We analyzed the retrospective cohort comprising all 48 016 pairs of drivers and passengers aged 14 years or more in TWMV involved in crashes with victims in Spain from 1993 to 2007 recorded in the Spanish traffic crash registry. The outcome (death or survival), age, sex and helmet use was known for both occupants. Adjusted relative risks (RR) for the association of age, sex and helmet with the risk of death were calculated with Poisson regression models.Results
Each 1-year increase in age was related with a 3% increase in the risk of death related with lower resilience. The severity-dependent RR of death was 1.84 for male sex and 0.86 for non-helmet use, and the resilience-dependent RR was 0.72 and 2.53, respectively.Conclusions
The direction and magnitude of the association between age, sex and helmet use and the risk of death of an occupant of a TWMV involved in a crash changed depending on which component of risk was considered: crash severity or occupant resilience. Specifically, female sex and non-helmet use seemed to be associated with crashes of lower severity, but together with increased age they were also related with lower resilience to the energy released in the crash, and therefore with a higher risk of death after adjustment for crash severity. The complete sequence of a 40 247 bp DNA segment located on the left arm of chromosome X of Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been determined and analysed. The sequence encodes the 5′ coding region of the URA2 gene and 18 open reading frames of at least 100 amino acids. Ten of these correspond to known genes, whereas eight correspond to new genes. In addition, the sequence contains a tRNA-Ala gene, a tRNA-Asp gene, a Ty4 transposable element and three delta elements. The skin is the largest organ of the human body, serving as an effective mechanical barrier between the internal milieu and the external environment. The skin is widely considered the first-line defence of the body, with an essential function in rejecting pathogens and preventing mechanical, chemical, and physical damages. Keratinocytes are the predominant cells of the outer skin layer, the epidermis, which acts as a mechanical and water-permeability barrier. The epidermis is a permanently renewed tissue where undifferentiated keratinocytes located at the basal layer proliferate and migrate to the overlying layers. During this migration process, keratinocytes undertake a differentiation program known as keratinization process. Dysregulation of this differentiation process can result in a series of skin disorders. In this context, aquaporins (AQPs), a family of membrane channel proteins allowing the movement of water and small neutral solutes, are emerging as important players in skin physiology and skin diseases. Here, we review the role of AQPs in skin keratinization, hydration, keratinocytes proliferation, water retention, barrier repair, wound healing, and immune response activation. We also discuss the dysregulated involvement of AQPs in some common inflammatory dermatological diseases characterised by skin barrier disruption. 相似文献

This paper reports the use of FTIR spectroscopy along with gravimetric analysis to simultaneously study water sorption, transport properties and water-polymer interactions in PP/EVOH films at 25 °C, as a function of EVOH content and water vapour activity. The results indicate the existence of two different mechanisms, below (dual-mode) and above a critical concentration value close to the clustering limit activity. Several spectroscopically distinguishable “types” of sorbed water molecules with different diffusion rates have been detected, and their evolution as a function of the penetrant concentration followed. The main changes in the water structure take place from the clustering limit activity onwards. Significant differences both in the state of water and diffusion sequence of free/bound water have been found between 90/10 PP/EVOH films and blends with EVOH content ≥20%, suggesting not only composite-dependence but also morphology-dependence. 相似文献

We report visible spectroelectrochemical (SEC) characterization of cytochrome c552 (cyt c552) in viable Geobacter sulfurreducens biofilms on tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) electrodes poised at 0.24 V vs. SHE. G. sulfurreducens biofilms were grown in minimal medium with acetate as electron donor (turnover conditions), followed by 24 h incubation in electron donor-depleted medium (non-turnover conditions). The electronic absorption spectra of G. sulfurreducens biofilms showed the lowest energy absorption band in the reduced state at 552 nm, which indicated excess of cyt c552 in the biofilm. The spectra under non-turnover conditions displayed gradual reduction of the cyt c552, following the step-wise decrease of electrode potential from 0.0 V to −0.6 V vs. standard calomel electrode (SCE). The spectral changes were fully reversible in both positive and negative direction of the scan potential, with average midpoint potential value of −0.42 V vs. SCE. Confocal microscopy analysis revealed that the thickness of biofilms under turnover conditions and non-turnover conditions was approximately 35 and 3.5 μm, respectively. This is the first study to observe the reversible redox conversion of cyt c552 in viable G. sulfurreducens biofilms. 相似文献
