Magnetic resonance and computed tomography produce sets of tomograms which are termed discrete 3D scenes. Usually, discrete 3D scenes are analyzed in two dimensions by observing each tomogram on a screen so that the three-dimensional information contained in the scene can be recovered only partially and qualitatively. The three-dimensional reconstruction of the shape of biological structures from discrete 3D scenes would allow a complete and quantitative recovery of the available information, but this task has proved hard for conventional processing techniques. In this paper we present a system architecture based on neural networks for the fully automated segmentation and recognition of structures of interest in discrete 3D scenes. The system includes a retina and two main processing modules, an Attention-Focuser System and a Region-Finder System, which have been implemented by using feed-forward nets trained with the back-propagation algorithm. This architecture has been tested on computer-simulated structures and has been applied to the reconstruction of the spinal cord and the brain from sets of tomograms.  相似文献

Carrier transport across the semiconductor space-charge region of a silicon triangular barrier diode was investigated by a Monte Carlo simulation. Oscillations of the electron mean kinetic energy are observed as a function of position along the uphill slope of the barrier under bias. At a given point on the uphill slope, the energy distribution function shows an oscillatory behavior, with a periodicity corresponding to the optical phonon energy. These oscillations are shown to be due to the nonequilibrium dynamics of the electron interaction with optical phonons in the situation when other inelastic electron scattering processes are negligible. The energy oscillations are superimposed on a smooth cooling of the distribution in the transport toward the top of the barrier, as current flows through the system. A comparison with the thermionic theory quantifies the importance of nonequilibrium effects in short-range electronic transport  相似文献

CAD based shape optimization for gas turbine component design   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In order to improve product characteristics, engineering design makes increasing use of Robust Design and Multidisciplinary Design Optimisation. Common to both methodologies is the need to vary the object’s shape and to assess the resulting change in performance, both executed within an automatic loop. This shape change can be realised by modifying the parameter values of a suitably parameterised Computer Aided Design (CAD) model. This paper presents the adopted methodology and the achieved results when performing optimisation of a gas turbine disk. Our approach to hierarchical modelling employing design tables is presented, with methods to ensure satisfactory geometry variation by commercial CAD systems. The conducted studies included stochastic and probabilistic design optimisation. To solve the multi-objective optimisation problem, a Pareto optimum criterion was used. The results demonstrate that CAD centric approach enables significant progress towards automating the entire process while achieving a higher quality product with the reduced susceptibility to manufacturing imperfections.  相似文献

Evolutionary computation is a class of global search techniques based on the learning process of a population of potential solutions to a given problem, that has been successfully applied to a variety of problems. In this paper a new approach to the construction of neural networks based on evolutionary computation is presented. A linear chromosome combined to a graph representation of the network are used by genetic operators, which allow the evolution of the architecture and the weights simultaneously without the need of local weight optimization. This paper describes the approach, the operators and reports results of the application of this technique to several binary classification problems.  相似文献

Core cross-linked amphiphilic star-block copolymers were prepared by hydrolysis of the outer shell of star-block copolymers prepared using copper mediated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). In an arm-first approach, linear poly(tert-butyl methacrylate) macroinitiators (PtBMA-Cl) were extended with styrene to yield PtBMA-b-PS-Cl and then cross-linked with divinylbenzene (DVB) in order to yield (PtBMA-b-PS)arms-PDVBcore star-block copolymers. Then, PMAA-b-PS block and (PMAA-PS)arms-PDVBcore star-block copolymers were obtained by hydrolysis of the PtBMA blocks in both linear and cross-linked copolymers, as confirmed by 1H NMR analyses. The amphiphilic character of these copolymers was confirmed by solubilisation in water. Several factors affecting the polymer aggregation and solubility such as the length, the composition of the arms and the catalyst used were studied. An acrylate analogue, that is, (PAA-b-PS)arms-PDVBcore, was also prepared for comparison purposes. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to elucidate the morphology and the thermal behaviour of the star-block copolymers.  相似文献

An optical method allowing the characterization of melt flow instabilities typically occurring during an extrusion process of polymers and polymer compounds is presented. It is based on a camera-acquired image of the extruded compound with a reference length scale. Application of image processing and transformation of the calibrated image to the frequency domain yields the magnitude spectrum of the instability. The effectiveness of the before mentioned approach is shown on Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) compounds, covering a wide range of silica filler content, extruded through a Göttfert capillary rheometer. The results of the image-based analysis are compared with the results from the sharkskin option, a series of highly sensitive pressure transducers installed inside the rheometer. A simplified version of the code used to produce the optical analysis results is included as supplementary material. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2020 , 137, 48806.  相似文献

In addition to CD4+ T lymphocytes, myeloid cells and, particularly, differentiated macrophages are targets of human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1) infection via the interaction of gp120Env with CD4 and CCR5 or CXCR4. Both T cells and macrophages support virus replication, although with substantial differences. In contrast to activated CD4+ T lymphocytes, HIV-1 replication in macrophages occurs in nondividing cells and it is characterized by the virtual absence of cytopathicity both in vitro and in vivo. These general features should be considered in evaluating the role of cell-associated restriction factors aiming at preventing or curtailing virus replication in macrophages and T cells, particularly in the context of designing strategies to tackle the viral reservoir in infected individuals receiving combination antiretroviral therapy. In this regard, we will here also discuss a model of reversible HIV-1 latency in primary human macrophages and the role of host factors determining the restriction or reactivation of virus replication in these cells.  相似文献

We review recent results on the effect of surface roughness on the transport properties of ultra-short devices like Silicon nanowire and double-gate FETs. We use a full quantum treatment within the non equilibrium Green’s function (NEGF) formalism which allows us to take into account quantum confinement, quantum phase interference, out-of-equilibrium, and quasi-ballistic transport and focus on transfer characteristics and low-field mobility.  相似文献
