Nine children of the ALL-REZ BFM 87 and 90 trial received L-Asparginase (L-ASP) as a continuous infusion for 48-72 hs (i.e. 25 therapy cycles). Seven patients had had an allergic reaction towards an i.m. application (i.m., 29 therapy cycles). Two further patients got L-ASP initially as continuous infusion. The i.m. applications were carried out 19 times with Erwinia and 10 times with E. coli-Asparaginase, the continuous infusions 15 times with Erwinia and 10 times with E. coli-Asparaginase. In case of four patients continuous infusions of the same L-ASP type (E. coli or Erwinia) was well tolerated, after there had been an allergic reaction after i.m. application. Allergic reactions after i.m. application occurred during 10 courses as local painful erythema, during five courses as urticaria, during four courses as a general exanthema during one course as difficult breathing and during a further course as drop in blood pressure. After continuous infusion of L-ASP urticaria and difficult breathing occurred once and a transient exanthema two times. There was no anaphylactic reaction in any case. These data show that i.m. application of L-ASP causes no life-threatening side effects but allergic reactions (local pain and swelling) which clearly impaired general condition. Continuous infusion is a pharmacologically equivalent alternative with less impairment of the patients' general condition. 相似文献

Reflective displays are advantageous in applications requiring low power or daylight readability. However, there are no low‐cost reflective technologies capable of displaying bright colors. By employing photoluminescence to more efficiently use ambient light, we created a prototype display that provides bright, full color in a simple, low‐cost architecture. This prototype includes a novel electrokinetic shutter, a layer that incorporates patterned luminescent red, green, and blue sub‐pixel elements, and a novel optical out‐coupling scheme. The luminescent elements convert otherwise‐wasted portions of the incident spectrum to light in the desired color band, resulting in improved color saturation and lightness. This prototype provides a color gamut that is superior to competing reflective display technologies that utilize color filters in single‐layer side‐by‐side sub‐pixel architectures. The current prototype is capable of switching in <0.5 s; future displays based on an alternative electro‐optic shutter technology should achieve video rate operation. A transflective version of this technology has also been prototyped. The transflective version utilizes its backlight with a power efficiency that is at least three times that of a conventional liquid crystal display. These photoluminescence‐based technologies enable a host of applications ranging from low‐power mobile products and retail pricing signage to daylight readable signage for outdoor advertising segments. 相似文献

Summary Highly active antioxidants for lard were extracted from dried tomato fruits with petroleum ether. When added to fresh lard,
the tomato lipids protected against autoxidation at 100°C. for long periods with little accumulation of peroxides during the
induction period. When added at a 2% level to actively oxidizing lard (peroxide values 20 to 130), the tomato lipids effected
a rapid drop of approximately 25% in titrable peroxides. When added at a level of 8%, this immediate drop was followed by
a second, more gradual, drop to a constant low value (ca. 5), which was maintained for a long period at 100°C.
The antioxidant activity of the tomato lipids was separated into two fractions, one consisting of a primary antioxidant and
the other of a synergistic (potentiating) substance. The primary antioxidant activity was accountable in the tocopherol content
of the extracts. The synergistic activity was qualitatively similar to phosphoric acid, and the synergistic fraction was found
to contain 2.4% phosphorus. However solubility data indicated the phosphorus was present in an organic form, probably phosphatides.

Music is a fundamental part of most cultures. Controlling music playback has commonly been used to demonstrate new interaction
techniques and algorithms. In particular, controlling music playback has been used to demonstrate and evaluate gesture recognition
algorithms. Previous work, however, used gestures that have been defined based on intuition, the developers’ preferences,
and the respective algorithm’s capabilities. In this paper we propose a refined process for deriving gestures from constant
user feedback. Using this process every result and design decision is validated in the subsequent step of the process. Therefore,
comprehensive feedback can be collected from each of the conducted user studies. Along the process we develop a set of free-hand
gestures for controlling music playback. The situational context is analysed to shape the usage scenario and derive an initial
set of necessary functions. In a successive user study the set of functions is validated and proposals for gestures are collected
from participants for each function. Two gesture sets containing static and dynamic gestures are derived and analysed in a
comparative evaluation. The comparative evaluation shows the suitability of the identified gestures and allows further refinement.
Our results indicate that the proposed process, that includes validation of each design decision, improves the final results.
By using the process to identify gestures for controlling music playback we not only show that the refined process can successfully
be applied, but we also provide a consistent gesture set that can serve as a realistic benchmark for gesture recognition algorithms. 相似文献

Helms, Henze, Sass, and Mifsud (2006) defined good practices for internal consistency reporting, interpretation, and analysis consistent with an alpha-as-data perspective. Their viewpoint (a) expands on previous arguments that reliability coefficients are group-level summary statistics of samples' responses rather than stable properties of scales or measures and (b) encourages researchers to investigate characteristics of reliability data for their own samples and subgroups within their samples. In Study 1, we reviewed past and current reliability reporting practices in a sample of Psychological Assessment articles published across 3 decades (i.e., from the years 1989, 1996, and 2006). Results suggested that contemporary and past researchers' reliability reporting practices have not improved over time and generally were not consistent with good practices. In Study 2, we analyzed an archival data set to illustrate the real-life repercussions of researchers' ongoing misconstrual and misuse of reliability data. Our analyses suggested that researchers should conduct preliminary analyses of their data to determine whether their data fit the assumptions of their reliability analyses. Also, the results indicated that reliability coefficients varied across racial or ethnic and gender subgroups, and these variations had implications for whether the same depression measure should be used across groups. We concluded that the alpha-as-data perspective has implications for one's choice of psychological measures and interpretation of results, which subsequently affect conclusions and recommendations. We encourage researchers to recognize the people behind their data by adopting better practices in internal consistency reporting, analysis, and interpretation. The exchange of 8.4% neutral detergent fiber (NDF) of wheat bran for 8.3% NDF of cellulose in diets containing either beef, chicken, fish or casein as protein sources did not (P>0.05) alter feed consumption, weight gain or energy intake in the protein efficiency ratio (PER) bioassay with weanling rats. Higher (P<0.05) fecal nitrogen (N) excretions and lower (P<0.05) N digestibilities occurred for each protein source when wheat bran was exchanged for cellulose. The exchange also had no effect (P>0.05) on PER or net protein ratio (NPR) of casein or fish protein or on NPR of chicken protein. However, PER and NPR of beef and PER for chicken were reduced (P<0.05) when the dietary fiber was exchanged. 相似文献

The effect of encapsulation, iron and low (LT) or high (HT) temperature drying on thiamin, riboflavin and niacinamide concentrations and on cooked spaghetti parameters of enriched spaghetti were studied. Thiamin, riboflavin and niacinamide were greater in the encapsulated enriched spaghetti. Cooked spaghetti had lower cooked weight but greater firmness when enriched with encapsulated vitamins. Thiamin, niacinamide and cooked weight were greater in cooked spaghetti when iron was added, but spaghetti was less firm. High temperature drying resulted in lower riboflavin and niacinamide in dried spaghetti but did not affect vitamin concentrations in cooked spaghetti. BACKGROUND: Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) subtype O infections are not reliably detected by commonly used anti-HIV-1/2 screening assays. Therefore, anti-HIV-1/2 assays have been modified to increase their sensitivity in detecting antibodies to HIV-1 subtype O. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: Two new anti-HIV-1/2 enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) (Abbott Plus and Ortho Enhanced) were compared with a currently used anti-HIV-1/2 ELISA (Abbott Recombinant) in various serum panels: 91 Western blot-confirmed anti-HIV-1-positive samples, 20 samples from Western blot-confirmed HIV-1-infected patients in log3 serial dilutions, and 1463 samples from consecutive, volunteer, nonremunerated blood donors. RESULTS: Among 91 anti-HIV-1 Western blot-positive samples, 2 (2.2%) were missed by the Abbott Recombinant ELISA, but all 91 were detected by the Abbott Plus and Ortho Enhanced ELISAs. In contrast, two discrepant samples were found to react in viral lysate-based assays. In serial dilutions, Ortho Enhanced ELISA was significantly less sensitive than the Abbott Recombinant and Abbott Plus ELISAs, with the latter two being of comparable sensitivity. The specificities of Abbott Recombinant, Abbott Plus, and Ortho Enhanced ELISAs in 1463 blood donors were 100, 99.93, and 99.86 percent, respectively. Routine testing of 29,102 donations with the enhanced Abbott Plus ELISA revealed a specificity of 99.93 percent. CONCLUSION: Two Western blot-confirmed anti-HIV-1-positive samples were missed by the Abbott Recombinant ELISA but detected by the Abbott Plus and Ortho Enhanced ELISAs. The analytic sensitivity of the Ortho Enhanced ELISA was inferior to that of both Abbott ELISAs. The specificities of the Abbott Recombinant, Abbott Plus, and Ortho Enhanced ELISAs were comparable. 相似文献
