Regarding the development of nanoparticles for polymer matrix composites the particle/agglomerate size and particle/agglomerate
distribution in the composites, respectively, is often crucial. This is exemplarily shown for, e.g. optical applications with
measurements of refractive index and transmittance. Classical blending techniques, where nanoparticles are dispersed in polymers
or resins, are compared to a combination of a special gas-phase synthesis method with subsequent in-situ deposition of nanoparticles
in high-boiling liquids. The particles/agglomerates were characterized regarding particle size and particle size distribution
using transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering. Additionally, important material properties like mechanical
properties, relevant for application, or like viscosity, relevant for processing, are determined. It is shown, that with in-situ
dispersed nanoparticles synthesized in a microwave plasma process composites with finely dispersed particles/agglomerates

This paper deals with microfluidic studies for lab-on-a-chip development. The first goal was to develop microsystems immediately
usable by biologists for complex protocol integrations. All fluid operations are performed on nano-liter droplet independently
handled solely by electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD) actuation. A bottom-up architecture was used for chip design due to
the development and validation of elementary fluidic designs, which are then assembled. This approach speeds up development
and industrialization while minimizing the effort in designing and simplifying chip-fluidic programming. Dispensing reproducibility
for 64 nl droplets obtained a CV below 3% and mixing time was only a few seconds. Ease of the integration was demonstrated
by performing on chip serial dilutions of 2.8-folds, four times. The second part of this paper concerns the development of
new innovative fluidic functions in order to extend EWOD-actuated digital fluidics’ capabilities. Experiments of particle
dispensing by EWOD droplet handling are reported. Finally, work is shown concerning the coupling of EWOD actuation and magnetic
fields for magnetic bead manipulation. 相似文献

A nonlinear identification method by simple state-space models is proposed in the discrete-time case. This approach is suggested by theoretical results similar to the approximation property known for a long time for Volterra series. The proposed technique uses extensions with polynomial inputs of bilinear systems called state-affine systems. This modelling requires a small computing time and enables us to obtain nonlinear models which can be easily implemented on microprocessors and remain valid over a wide range of operating conditions. Magnetic nanocrystals organized in chain-like structures behave as nanowires with a shape anisotropy induced by the structuration of the sample. This is valid for various types of magnetic nanomaterials. The effect of high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) treatment on the structure, physicochemical and functional properties of cumin protein isolate (CPI) was investigated. More aggregates, pores, irregular conformations and bigger particle size were observed for HHP-treated CPI. HHP resulted in an increase in α-helix, a decrease in β-strand and fluorescence intensity of CPI. Surface hydrophobicity (Ho) of CPI significantly increased after HHP treatment, from 343.35 for native CPI to 906.22 at 600 MPa (P < 0.05). HHP treatment at 200 MPa reduced zeta-potential and solubility of CPI, while had little effect at 400 and 600 MPa. Emulsifying activity and stability of CPI decreased after HHP treatment, of which droplet size of emulsions significantly increased (P < 0.05). HHP-treated CPI could form heat-induced gelation at lower temperature (68.5 °C) and improved storage modulus (G′) comparing to native one (80.6 °C), suggesting that CPI might be potential protein resources as gelation substitute in food system. 相似文献

Hunting for huntingtin : We describe a screening assay based on the inducible expression of the mutant huntingtin protein in cells and on its highly sensitive homogenous determination. Rapid, reproducible, and robust protein determination was achieved through the use of two donor–acceptor‐labeled antibodies and time‐resolved FRET. The assay was developed and validated for ultra‐throughput screening of low‐molecular‐weight compounds modulating the expression of the mutant protein.

Peptidic ligands selectively targeting distinct G protein‐coupled receptors that are highly expressed in tumor tissue represent a promising approach in drug delivery. Receptor‐preferring analogues of neuropeptide Y (NPY) bind and activate the human Y1 receptor subtype (hY1 receptor), which is found in 90 % of breast cancer tissue and in all breast‐cancer‐derived metastases. Herein, novel highly boron‐loaded Y1‐receptor‐preferring peptide analogues are described as smart shuttle systems for carbaboranes as 10B‐containing moieties. Various positions in the peptide were screened for their susceptibility to carbaborane modification, and the most promising positions were chosen to create a multi‐carbaborane peptide containing 30 boron atoms per peptide with excellent activation and internalization patterns at the hY1 receptor. Boron uptake studies by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry revealed successful uptake of the multi‐carbaborane peptide into hY1‐receptor‐expressing cells, exceeding the required amount of 109 boron atoms per cell. This result demonstrates that the NPY/hY receptor system can act as an effective transport system for boron‐containing moieties. 相似文献
