Retraction of “Using ergonomic digital human modeling in evaluation of workplace design and prevention of workrelated musculoskeletal disorders onboard small fishing vessel”

The following article from Human Factors and Ergonomics in Manufacturing & Service Industries, “Using ergonomic digital human modeling in evaluation of workplace design and prevention of workrelated musculoskeletal disorders onboard small fishing vessel,” by Enrique Álvarez‐Casado, Bing Zhang, Sonia Tello Sandoval and Mondelo Pedro, published online on October 11, 2011 in Wiley Online Library ( www.onlinelibrary.wiley.com ), has been retracted by agreement between the authors, the journal Editors‐in‐Chief, Waldemar Karwowski and Gavriel Salvendy, and Publisher Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The retraction has been agreed as these articles were mistakenly published after being rejected.     

Repeated Price Search

Consumers check few sites in online purchases. Previous research and experiments we perform demonstrate that consumers can not calculate the optimal strategy for price search. They use heuristics whose performance is better than random and less than optimal. To investigate online price search performance we survey student online textbook purchases. Students achieve good performance because they start with a good strategy and online market organization of marketplace and meta-search sites. An important factor is that algorithms at sites searched perform calculations that reduce the computational complexity of the search.     

Prediction of the diffusion coefficients in multicomponent liquid refrigerant solutions

Immersion chilling and freezing (ICF) consist of soaking foods in a low freezing point liquid medium maintained at a low temperature that are considered secondary refrigerants. Data related to transport properties for the refrigerating media used in ICF processes are scarce, particularly for ternary and higher order systems. The objective of this work was to develop a model for the prediction of diffusion coefficients for systems of interest for ICF processes. The generalized Maxwell-Stefan equations were used in the model development. Data obtained from literature corresponding to Fick diffusion coefficients of the binary systems NaCl-H₂O and KCl-H₂O, and the ternary system NaCl-KCl-H₂O, were compared with predicted values. Results were satisfactory, errors of the main diffusion coefficients less than 13.5% being obtained. These results may be extended to the typical range of conditions of ICF, where no data are available in literature to date.     

Visitor profile, satisfaction levels and clustering of tourists for decision making in Michoacan, Mexico

The state of Michoacán, one of the states with the lowest economic development in Mexico, has been historically recognized because of its potential for tourism activities. The revenues coming from this economic sector, as well as the number of tourists who visit this state have significantly increased during the last few years. A survey was conducted on tourists who visited Michoacán, in order to determine the visitors' profile and their satisfaction levels during their visit. A cluster analysis was then used to categorize the lifestyle of these tourists into five different segments, to be able to develop the best tourism products, marketing strategies and aid the decision-making process of government and private organizations related to this sector. A regression analysis was also performed to identify the variables that determine the satisfaction of these tourists. The results are satisfactory in the sense that the actions taken, which were based on this research and led by the Ministry of Tourism of Michoacán and the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico, have attracted more national and international groups, and have also increased the revenues, profits and new investments reported by private organizations related to this economic sector.

Follow-up of partial seizure progression in an infant

OBJECTIVE AND MATERIAL: We are carried out a retrospective study of 43 patients, 21 males and 22 women entered during the period of infancy in the Service of Neurology of our hospital and with diagnostic of any type of partial seizure, in an intent to correlate a series of clinical parameters, electroneurophysiologics and initial therapeutics with their factors follow-up periods. RESULTS: They are a half age of 7.11 months (1-19), consecutive being controlled for a period of time of 40 months (6-96). We have settled down a relationship between the drugs utilized in the first seizure and that other that they remained in their last revision, the current state of the critical manifestations, and the existence or not of an agreement between the e diagnosis emitted to the discharge and the development of the illness. CONCLUSION: After the present study, we thought that the current classification of the epileptic seizures is insufficient in the age of the infant, with presages much more complexes.
