There is an urgent need for a systematic methodology for condition assessment of the bridges because the old bridges of most of the countries are inadequate to carry current-day traffic and satisfy the present codal provisions and even in newer bridges, deterioration caused by unforeseen service condition and deferred maintenance is of great concern. In view of this, an attempt has been made in this study to develop a systematic procedure and formulations for condition evaluation of existing bridges using Analytic Hierarchy Process in a fuzzy environment. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is an efficient decision making tool for complicated problems with multiple evaluation criteria and uncertainty. Fuzzy logic approach has been used to take care of the uncertainties and imprecision in the bridge inspector’s observations. In this paper, first, a methodology has been proposed for condition ranking of number of reinforced concrete (RC) bridges. Then, based on the results obtained from prioritization, rating of the most deserved bridge has been carried out using MADM based fuzzy logic. Computer programs have been developed based on the formulations presented in this paper for evaluating condition of existing bridges and the details are presented in the paper. The methodology and its application are demonstrated through a case study. This methodology would certainly help the engineers and policy makers concerned with bridge management to overcome the problem related to prioritization and decision on funding related to rehabilitation of bridges.  相似文献

Aspergillus niger, an isolate of soil contaminated with effluents from cotton ginning mill was grown in Czapek-Dox medium containing sawdust, Triton-X 100 and urea for production of an extracellular β-glucosidase. β-Glucosidase enzyme was purified (86-fold) from culture filtrate of A. niger by employing ammonium sulphate precipitation and gel filtration on sephadex G-75. The molecular mass of the purified enzyme was estimated to be 95 kDa by sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The enzyme had an optimal activity on p-nitrophenyl β-D-glucopyranoside at 50°C and pH 5.0. The Km and Vmax of the enzyme on p-nitrophenyl β-D-glucopyranoside at 50°C and pH 5 were 8.0 mM and 166 µmol/min/mg of protein, respectively. The enzyme could hydrolyze cellobiose and lactose but not sucrose. Heavy metals like Hg2+, Al3+, and Ag+ inhibited the activity, whereas Zn2+ and detergents such as Triton-X 100 and Tween-80 increased the activity at 0.01%. The enzyme activity increased in the presence of methanol and ethanol.  相似文献

In this work, the effect of ZrB2 (0, 5, 10 and 20?vol%) ceramic reinforcement on densification, structure, and properties of mechanically alloyed Al was investigated. The milling of Al-ZrB2 powder compositions resulted in formation of agglomerates with varied size. In particular, the size of agglomerates was reduced considerably with increased addition of ZrB2 to Al. Interestingly, the densification of hot pressed Al increased from 96.06% to 99.22% with ZrB2 addition. The reduction of agglomerates size was attributed to the enhanced densification of Al-ZrB2 composites. Pure Al showed relatively low hardness (0.94?GPa) and it was improved to 1.78?GPa with the addition of 20?vol% ZrB2. The mechanical properties have significantly been improved for Al-ZrB2 composites. Especially Al - 20?vol% ZrB2 possessed a very high yield strength (529?MPa), compressive strength (630?MPa) and compressive strain of 19.25%. Realization of such a good combination of mechanical properties is the highest ever reported for Al composites so far in the literature. The coefficient of friction (COF) of Al-ZrB2 varied narrowly between 0.33 and 0.40 after dry sliding wear against steel disc. The wear rate of Al-ZrB2 composites was within mild wear regime and varied between 98.88?×?10?6 and 34.66?×?10?6 mm3/Nm. Among all the compositions, Al - 20?vol% ZrB2 composite exhibited the lowest wear rate and high wear rate was noted for pure Al. Mild abrasion, tribo-oxidation, third body wear (wear debris) and delamination were the major material removal mechanisms for Al-ZrB2 composites. Overall the hardness, strength and wear resistance of Al - 20?vol% ZrB2 composite was improved by 84.3%, 84.3% and 64.2%, respectively when compared to pure Al.  相似文献

The paper discusses the aspects of repair and retrofitting technique adopted for a damaged reinforced concrete beam-column joint specimen under cyclic loading. A specimen designed based on Indian Standard specifications with consideration of seismic load but without adopting ductile detailing (NonDuctile) was investigated under reverse cyclic loading. Then, the damaged nonductile specimen was repaired with epoxy mortar and grouted using low viscous polymer, and retrofitted using fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) wrapping in beam and column components and steel plate jacketing in joint region. The experimental results showed that the retrofitted specimen not only regained its original strength and stiffness but also has overcome the deficiencies of nonductile detailing. The present study shows that a proper repair and adequate retrofitting technique can be used for strengthening and improvement of damaged regions in reinforced concrete structures.  相似文献

Flash memories entered the nonvolatile memory scenario only a few years ago, and now these kind of memories are battling to substitute either EEPROM or EPROM. In fact, their peculiarities are becoming quite interesting in present day applications.In system updating, low power consumption, embedded algorithm for program and erase, high density, low cost packages are some of the items which are making the Flash grow in the nonvolatile memory market share.Some words must be spent in explaining what the market is asking of Flash, which are the main applications for these memories, and how their architecture is arranged.The Flash memory cell behaviour will be described, then the fundamental operations (read, program and erase) are explained and some words are used to introduce the redundancy and device testability concept.  相似文献

Iridescence is a natural phenomenon that is perceived as gradual color changes, depending on the view and illumination direction. Prominent examples are the colors seen in oil films and soap bubbles. Unfortunately, iridescent effects are particularly difficult to recreate in real‐time computer graphics. We present a high‐quality real‐time method for rendering iridescent effects under image‐based lighting. Previous methods model dielectric thin‐films of varying thickness on top of an arbitrary micro‐facet model with a conducting or dielectric base material, and evaluate the resulting reflectance term, responsible for the iridescent effects, only for a single direction when using real‐time image‐based lighting. This leads to bright halos at grazing angles and over‐saturated colors on rough surfaces, which causes an unnatural appearance that is not observed in ground truth data. We address this problem by taking the distribution of light directions, given by the environment map and surface roughness, into account when evaluating the reflectance term. In particular, our approach prefilters the first and second moments of the light direction, which are used to evaluate a filtered version of the reflectance term. We show that the visual quality of our approach is superior to the ones previously achieved, while having only a small negative impact on performance.  相似文献

The continuous aerobic biodegradation of phenol in synthetic wastewater was carried out using Nocardia hydrocarbonoxydans immobilized over glass beads packed between the plates in a pulsed plate bioreactor at a frequency of pulsation of 0.5s(-1) and amplitude of 4.7 cm. The influence of dilution rate and influent phenol concentration on start up and steady state performance of the bioreactor was studied. The time taken to reach steady state has increased with increase in dilution rate and influent phenol concentration. It was found that, as the dilution rate is increased, the percentage degradation has decreased. Steady state percentage degradation was also reduced with increased influent phenol concentration. Almost 100% degradation of 300 and 500 ppm influent phenol could be achieved at a dilution rate of 0.4094 h(-1) and more than 99% degradation could be achieved with higher dilution rates. At a higher dilution rate of 1.0235 h(-1) and at concentrations of 800 and 900 ppm the percentage degradation has reduced to around 94% and 93%, respectively. The attached biomass dry weight, biofilm thickness and biofilm density at steady state were influenced by influent phenol concentration and dilution rate.  相似文献

Noncontiguous orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (NC-OFDM)-based cognitive radio (CR) systems achieve highly efficient spectrum utilization by transmitting unlicensed users' data on subcarriers of licensed users’ data when they are free. However, there are two disadvantages to the NC-OFDM system: out-of-band power (OBP) and a high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). OBP arises due to side lobes of an NC-OFDM signal in the frequency domain, and it interferes with the spectrum for unlicensed users. A high PAPR occurs due to the inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) block used in an NC-OFDM system, and it induces nonlinear effects in power amplifiers. In this study, we propose an algorithm called “Alternative Projections onto Convex and Non-Convex Sets” that reduces the OBP and PAPR simultaneously. The alternate projections are performed onto these sets to form an iteration, and it converges to the specified limits of in-band-power, peak amplitude, and OBP. Furthermore, simulations show that the bit error rate performance is not degraded while reducing OBP and PAPR.  相似文献

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is the signals that measure the electrical variances of brain using metal electrodes. We observe the EEG signals by using European Data Format (EDF) BROWSER and EEG STUDIO. By using EDF BROWSER, we can get the mean and frequency from the filtered output signal using band‐pass filter. Using EDF BROWSER, we can also perform Root Mean Square (RMS) and signal samples. Using EEG STUDIO, we can analyze the average frequency and standard deviation. Epileptic seizure prediction and detection are done by spike detection, frequency domain analysis, and nonlinear methods. EEG signal contains different artifacts like electrooculography (EOG), EKG, and electrocardiogram (ECG). ECG signals are produced by heart. EOG signals are produced by eyes. Plant growth visualization from a series of 3D scanner measurements is a challenging task. Time intervals between successive measurements are typically too large to allow a smooth animation of the growth process. Therefore, obtaining a smooth animation of the plant growth process requires a temporal upsampling of the point cloud sequence in order to obtain approximations of the intermediate states between successive measurements. Additionally, there are suddenly arising structural changes due to the occurrence of new plant parts such as new branches or leaves. We present a novel method that addresses these challenges via semantic segmentation and the generation of a segment hierarchy per scan, the matching of the hierarchical representations of successive scans and the segment-wise computation of optimal transport. The transport problems' solutions yield the information required for a realistic temporal upsampling, which is generated in real time. Thereby, our method does not require shape templates, good correspondences or huge databases of examples. Newly grown and decayed parts of the plant are detected as unmatched segments and are handled by identifying corresponding bifurcation points and introducing virtual segments in the previous, respectively successive time step. Our method allows the generation of realistic upsampled growth animations with moderate computational effort.  相似文献
