Summary Linear discriminant analysis of GLC-aromagram data is used to separate several classes of wine distillates, namely cognac, armagnac and brandy. In this paper we demonstrate how this method was used to detect adulteration. The adulteration was confirmed by the presence of ethyl heptanoate and limonene, which are well-known flavour compounds. They were analysed by means of a Purge and Trap headspace technique. Mass spectrometry was used to identify these flavours.

Zusammenfassung Die Linear-Discriminanz-Analyse von GLC-Aromagramm-Daten wird zur Klassifizierung von Weindestillaten wie Cognac, Armagnac und Brandy verwendet. In dieser Arbeit werden mit dieser Methode Verfälschungen nachgewiesen, die durch die Gegenwart der Ethylester der Heptansäure und des Limonen belegt werden konnten. Moisture-damaged buildings are associated with respiratory symptoms and underlying diseases among building occupants, but the causative agent(s) remain a mystery. We first identified specific fungal and bacterial taxa in classrooms with moisture damage in Finnish and Dutch primary schools. We then investigated associations of the identified moisture damage indicators with respiratory symptoms in more than 2700 students. Finally, we explored whether exposure to specific taxa within the indoor microbiota may explain the association between moisture damage and respiratory health. Schools were assessed for moisture damage through detailed inspections, and the microbial composition of settled dust in electrostatic dustfall collectors was determined using marker-gene analysis. In Finland, there were several positive associations between particular microbial indicators (diversity, richness, individual taxa) and a respiratory symptom score, while in the Netherlands, the associations tended to be mostly inverse and statistically non-significant. In Finland, abundance of the Sphingomonas bacterial genus and endotoxin levels partially explained the associations between moisture damage and symptom score. A few microbial taxa explained part of the associations with health, but overall, the observed associations between damage-associated individual taxa and respiratory health were limited. 相似文献

Human adenoviruses (HAdV) are shed in human faeces and can consequently contaminate environmental waters and possibly be transferred to foods by irrigation. Therefore, efficient inactivation technologies for water and foods are needed. High hydrostatic pressure (HHP) processing is a non-thermal, energy-efficient and rapid emergent inactivation technology, which has been widely studied to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms in foods. We have applied HHP to HAdV-2 in water and cell culture medium (CCM) and measured the effect on virus infectivity and genome and capsid integrity, by using infectivity assay, real-time PCR (qPCR) and qPCR with prior enzymatic treatment (ET-qPCR) with Proteinase K and DNase I. While lower pressures did not provide satisfactory inactivation levels, 400 and 600 MPa treatments were estimated to reduce virus infectivity by approximately 6 log?? units when effectively applied for 93s and 4s, respectively (i.e., excluding come up times of the pressure unit). However, virus genome remained intact even when higher pressures were applied. While acidic pH protected HAdV-2 from inactivation with HHP, no baroprotective effect was observed when 1% sucrose was added to the CCM. On the other hand, 10 mM CaCl? added to the CCM was estimated to protect HAdV-2 from HHP with longer treatment times (>10 min). When virus was treated in bottled mineral water, significantly higher infectivity reduction was observed compared to the same treatment in CCM. In conclusion, HHP was shown to effectively reduce HAdV-2 infectivity up to 6.5 log?? units within 4s and can thus contribute to public health protection for food- and water-borne virus transmission. However, its precise effect is matrix dependent and therefore matrix-specific evaluations need to be considered for assuring reliable inactivation in practice. 相似文献

Classic hairy cell leukemia (HCL) is a rare mature B-cell malignancy associated with pancytopenia and infectious complications due to progressive infiltration of the bone marrow and spleen. Despite tremendous therapeutic advances achieved with the implementation of purine analogues such as cladribine into clinical practice, the culprit biologic alterations driving this fascinating hematologic disease have long stayed concealed. Nearly 10 years ago, BRAF V600E was finally identified as a key activating mutation detectable in almost all HCL patients and throughout the entire course of the disease. However, additional oncogenic biologic features seem mandatory to enable HCL transformation, an open issue still under active investigation. This review summarizes the current understanding of key pathogenic mechanisms implicated in HCL and discusses major hurdles to overcome in the context of other BRAF-mutated malignancies. 相似文献

Summary Sherry wine has been compared with Italian base wine and Huelva and Montilla wine, which are possible substrates for adulteration. Three different laboratories used their own chemical methods of analysis and applied linear discriminant functions to discriminate between these types of wines. The differentiation could be performed using either organic constituents such as volatiles and organic acids or trace metals. Special attention must be paid to samples strongly deviating in only one variable, since such a deviating value does not belong to the statistical population. Such a deviation may be caused by processing or agricultural treatment of the vines.
Nachweis der Echtheit von Sherrywein durch Multivariant-Analyse. Ein Interlaboratoriumsversuch
Zusammenfassung Sherry wurde mit italienischen Basisweinen, Huelva and Montilla verglichen, da diese Weine für eine Verfälschung von Sherry gebraucht werden könnten. Drei verschiedene Laboratorien benutzten ihre eigenen chemischen Analysemethoden und wendeten die Methode der Linear-Discriminant-Analyse an, um einen Unterschied zwischen diesen Weintypen zu erhalten. Unterschiede konnten mit Hilfe organischer Verbindungen, sowie flüchtigen Verbindungen und organische Säuren, oder mit Hilfe von Spurenelementen festgestellt werden. Spezielle Aufmerksamkeit mußte Proben gewidmet werden, die bei nur einer Variante stark abweichen, weil ein so stark abweichender Wert nicht zur statistischen Population gehört. Solche Abweichungen könnten durch Umstände während der Produktion oder durch landbauwirtschaftliche Behandlungen verursacht werden.相似文献
