ABSTRACT: Texture changes during ripening of Port Salut Argentino cheese for different sampling zones were studied. Compression relaxation tests were performed and results were analyzed using both Maxwellian and Peleg's models. Elastic equilibrium modulus obtained from the Maxwellian model decreased from 1.22 to 0.11 104 Pa during ripening. The constants derived from Peleg's model, k1 and k2 , diminished with ripening time from 1.18 to 0.71 min and from 1.27 to 1.12, respectively. Asymptotic equilibrium modulus from Peleg's model decreased from 0.95 to 0.07 104 Pa during ripening. Rate parameters derived from a 1st order kinetics applied to both equilibrium moduli showed that the decrease was faster in the external zone (0.0846 d−1 ) than in the central zone (0.0368 d−1 ). The correlation between equilibrium moduli, salt concentration, moisture content, and maturation indexes was obtained with a determination coefficient of 0.76. 相似文献

The NLP community has shown a renewed interest in deeper semantic analyses, among them automatic recognition of semantic relations
in text. We present the development and evaluation of a semantic analysis task: automatic recognition of relations between
pairs of nominals in a sentence. The task was part of SemEval-2007, the fourth edition of the semantic evaluation event previously
known as SensEval. Apart from the observations we have made, the long-lasting effect of this task may be a framework for comparing
approaches to the task. We introduce the problem of recognizing relations between nominals, and in particular the process
of drafting and refining the definitions of the semantic relations. We show how we created the training and test data, list
and briefly describe the 15 participating systems, discuss the results, and conclude with the lessons learned in the course

Miniaturized on-chip blood separators have a great value for point-of-care diagnosis. In our work, a combined design strategy—microfiltration, sedimentation in a retarded flow, and wetting contrast—was taken to overcome the known limitations of on-chip blood separators. Our microfluidic chip consists of a polydimethylsiloxane micropillar array and an etched glass with microchannel branches. The red blood cells are significantly slowed and gradually settled down due to micropillars and enlarged dimension of a chamber. An etched glass microchannel allows the extraction of blood plasma exclusively due to the capillary effect. The fabricated microfluidic device can separate blood plasma from a whole blood sample without any external driving force or dilution. The measured plasma separation efficiency was close to 100 % from human whole blood. Autonomous on-chip separation and collection of blood plasma was demonstrated. 相似文献

This paper presents a novel hybrid interval type-2 neuro-fuzzy inference system, with automatic learning of all its parameters, to handle uncertainty. This new model, called hierarchical type-2 neuro-fuzzy BSP model (T2-HNFB), combines the paradigms of the type-2 fuzzy inference systems and neural networks with recursive partitioning techniques (binary space partitioning - BSP). The model is able to automatically create and expand its own structure, to reduce limitations on the number of inputs and to extract fuzzy linguistic rules from a dataset, as well as to efficiently model and manipulate most types of uncertainty existing in real situations. In addition, it provides an interval for its output, which can be regarded as a measure of uncertainty and constitutes important information for real applications. In this context, this model overcomes the limitations of the conventional type-2 and type-1 fuzzy inference systems. Experimental results show that the results provided by the T2-HNFB model are close to and in several cases better than the best results supplied by the other models used for comparison. 相似文献

It is well-known [Reliab. Eng. Syst. Saf. 75 (2002) 295] that in modern development processes it is essential to have an information flow structure that facilitates fast feedback from product users (customers) to departments at the front end, in particular development and production. As information is only relevant if it is used when taking decisions, this paper presents a guideline for building field feedback information flows that facilitate the decision taking during the product creation and realisation process. The guideline takes into consideration that the type of decisions depends on the span-of-control, therefore following Parsons [Structure and Process in Modern Societies (1990)] the span-of-control is subdivided into the following three levels: strategic, tactic, and executive. and powerful way, using either direct, volatile messages, or messages sent via recoverable queues. Normal requests from clients
to the server and replies from the server to clients can be transmitted using direct or recoverable messages. In addition,
an application event notification mechanism is provided, whereby client applications running anywhere on the network can register
for events, and when those events are raised, the clients are notified. A novel parameter passing mechanism allows a set of
tuples to be included in an event notification. The event mechanism is particularly useful in an active DBMS, where events
can be raised by triggers to signal running application programs.

Without a doubt, a majority of diseases are food-pattern-related. However, one disease stands out as an increasingly more common autoimmune-mediated enteropathy triggered by the ingestion of gluten. Celiac disease (CD) is an old disease, with changing clinical patterns, affecting any age, including infancy and adolescence, and becoming more frequent among the elderly. The gluten-free diet (GFD) has been the sole provider of clinical, serological, and histological improvement for patients with CD for more than seven decades. Nowadays, complete avoidance of dietary gluten is rarely possible because of the wide availability of wheat and other processed foods that contain even more gluten, to the detriment of gluten-free products. Undeniably, there is a definite need for replacing the burdensome GFD. An add-on therapy that could control the dietary transgressions and inadvertent gluten consumption that can possibly lead to overt CD should be considered while on GFD. Nevertheless, future drugs should be able to provide patients some freedom to self-manage CD and increase food independence, while actively reducing exposure and mucosal damage and alleviating GI symptoms. Numerous clinical trials assessing different molecules have already been performed with favorable outcomes, and hopefully they will soon be available for patient use. 相似文献

The rheological behaviour of high ratio cake batters prepared with untreated and heat-treated wheat flours was analysed at different stages of the manufacturing process, namely slurry, (on aeration) foams and (with fat addition) aerated emulsions, featuring air volume fractions up to 0.50. Both steady shear and viscoelastic behaviours were studied. All materials exhibited shear-thinning behaviour at 20 °C over the shear rate range studied (0.07-10 s−1). The generalised Cox-Merz rule could be applied to all samples. Materials prepared with heat-treated flours exhibited greater stability, as indicated by slurry thixotropy and cohesive energy, and the change in apparent viscosity and air content of foams and aerated emulsions on extended mixing. Foams and aerated emulsions showed significant elastic behaviour with G′∼G″. The temperature dependency of aerated emulsions was studied by oscillatory shear testing from 20 to 100 °C and indicated three regimes in temperature dependence: below 40 °C G′and G″ were insensitive to temperature; between 40 and 70 °C the complex viscosity exhibited Arrhenius-type behaviour, while above 70 °C G′ and G″ increased as expected for gelatinisation and foam setting. The weak gel model for foods was used to analyse the latter data sets and confirmed that the gel network generated in aerated emulsions prepared with heat-treated flours was significantly stronger than those made with unheated flours. The differences between flour types were also observed in tests on un- and heat-treated flours obtained from a second and third harvest. The impact of these quantifiable differences in rheology on performance during baking is discussed. 相似文献

The bio hydroxyapatite (HAp) was used from a long time in different medical and environmental applications. The HAp layers with a uniform surface were used for various medical applications such as orthopedic and dental metal implants. In this work, we reported on the influence of X‐ray radiation on the structural and morphological properties of composite layers based on HAp and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) deposited on titanium substrates. The HAp:PDMS layers were investigated by different complementary methods such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and glow discharge optical emission spectrometry (GDOES). FTIR spectral analysis showed that the molecular structure of the coatings was not changed after their irradiation even though, the depth profile analysis performed by GDOES indicated a depletion of Ca and P elements from the HAp:PDMS irradiated samples. By SEM, we showed that the morphological features of the coatings were also changed, as the irradiated layers are delaminated. The biological assays confirmed that the antibacterial activity of HAp:PDMS composite layers increased after irradiation. The results obtained in this study highlighted that the biological properties of HAp:PDMS layers could be influenced by irradiation. POLYM. ENG.
