Aerogels are high‐performance materials used for space and aviation purposes. Cellulose aerogel fibers have been investigated under real space conditions for their insulation properties. The experiments were carried out in a one‐stage high‐altitude research rocket of the improved ORION type. A cuboid module with measurement cells, camera modules, and electronic devices has been developed for monitoring the insulation behavior of cellulose aerogel non‐woven samples. The thermal behavior of these samples has been analyzed and compared to cellulose cloth (cotton) and aluminum for reference.  相似文献

The global mechanical properties of textiles such as elasticity and strength, as well as transport properties such as permeability depend strongly on the microstructure of the textile. Textiles are heterogeneous structures with highly anisotropic material properties, including local fiber orientation and local fiber volume fraction. In this paper, an algorithm is presented to generate a virtual 3D–model of a woven fabric architecture with information about the local fiber orientation and the local fiber volume fraction. The geometric data of the woven fabric impregnated with resin was obtained by micron-resolution computed tomography (μCT). The volumetric μCT-scan was discretized into cells and the microstructure of each cell was analyzed and homogenized. Furthermore, the discretized data was used to calculate the local permeability tensors of each cell. An example application of the analyzed data is the simulation of the resin flow through a woven fabric based on the determined local permeability tensors and on Darcy’s law. The presented algorithm is an automated and robust method of going from μCT-scans to structural or flow models.  相似文献

The development of a general curved triangular element based on an assumed displacement potential energy approach is presented for the analysis of arbitrarily laminated thick shells. The associated laminated shell theory assumes transverse inextensibility and layerwise constant shear angle. The present element is a quadratic triangle of C0-type in the curvilinear co-ordinate plane, which is then mapped onto a curved surface. Convergence of transverse displacement, moments, stresses and the effect of two Gauss quadrature schemes also form a part of the investigation. Examples of two laminated shell problems demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the present element. Comparison of the present LCST (layerwise constant shear-angle theory) based solutions, with those based on the CST (constant shear-angle theory) clearly demonstrates the superiority of the former over the latter, especially in the prediction of the distribution of the surface-parallel displacements and stresses through the laminate thickness.  相似文献

Analytic in-patient therapy (n = 32) and systemic out-patient therapy (n = 39) were applied to patients with bulimia nervosa, and the effects were evaluated 14, 26 and 38 months after the start of the treatments. Our assumptions about the general efficacy of both conflict-orientated techniques were confirmed: both therapies satisfactorily reduced the symptomatic behaviour, as well as secondary factors related to bulimia nervosa, in the long term. However, we could not identify differential effects of the two treatment regimes, which we had expected with regard to the very different therapeutic approaches. The similarities of outcome of both therapies predominate, with slightly better results in the case of the analytic in-patient treatment. The results are discussed with regard to the assumption that specific healing factors are involved in conflict-orientated treatments in addition to the "common factors' of psychotherapy.  相似文献

The importance of achieving high quality in research practice has been highlighted in different disciplines. At the same time, citations are utilized to measure the impact of academic researchers and institutions. One open question is whether the quality in the reporting of research is related to scientific impact, which would be desired. In this exploratory study we aim to: (1) Investigate how consistently a scoring rubric for rigor and relevance has been used to assess research quality of software engineering studies; (2) Explore the relationship between rigor, relevance and citation count. Through backward snowball sampling we identified 718 primary studies assessed through the scoring rubric. We utilized cluster analysis and conditional inference tree to explore the relationship between quality in the reporting of research (represented by rigor and relevance) and scientiometrics (represented by normalized citations). The results show that only rigor is related to studies’ normalized citations. Besides that, confounding factors are likely to influence the number of citations. The results also suggest that the scoring rubric is not applied the same way by all studies, and one of the likely reasons is because it was found to be too abstract and in need to be further refined. Our findings could be used as a basis to further understand the relation between the quality in the reporting of research and scientific impact, and foster new discussions on how to fairly acknowledge studies for performing well with respect to the emphasized research quality. The electrospinning of a polymer melt is an interesting process for medical applications because it eliminates the cytotoxic effects of solvents in the electrospinning solution. Wound dressings made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), particularly as a porous structured electrospun membrane, are currently the focus of scientific and commercial interest. In this study, we developed a functionalized fibrillar structure as a novel antibacterial wound‐dressing material with the melt‐electrospinning of TPU. The surface of the fibers was modified with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and silver nanoparticles (nAg's) to improve their wettability and antimicrobial properties. TPU was processed into a porous, fibrous network of beadless fibers in the micrometer range (4.89 ± 0.94 μm). The X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy results and scanning electron microscopy images confirmed the successful incorporation of nAg's onto the surface of the fiber structure. An antibacterial test indicated that the PEG‐modified nAg‐loaded TPU melt‐electrospun structure had excellent antibacterial effects against both a Gram‐positive Staphylococcus aureus strain and Gram‐negative Escherichia coli compared to unmodified and PEG‐modified TPU fiber mats. Moreover, modification with nAg's and PEG increased the water‐absorption ability in comparison to unmodified TPU. The cell viability and proliferation on the unmodified and modified TPU fiber mats were investigated with a mouse fibroblast cell line (L929). The results demonstrate that the PEG‐modified nAg‐loaded TPU mats had no cytotoxic effect on the fibroblast cells. Therefore, the melt‐electrospun TPU fiber mats modified with PEG and nAg have the potential to be used as antibacterial, humidity‐managing wound dressings. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Three different experimental techniques were used to study structural phase transitions in melt‐spun poly(vinylidene fluoride) fibers, which were produced with different process parameters and processed in the draw‐winding process at different temperatures and draw ratios. The fibers are examined with the help of wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction at elevated temperatures, differential scanning calorimetry with stochastic temperature modulation, and dynamic mechanical analysis. An oriented mesophase and deformed crystal structures can be observed in all fibers and assigned to the mechanical stress occurring in the processes. Furthermore, several phase transitions during melting and two mechanical relaxation processes could be detected. The observed transitions affect the crystal geometry, the orientation distribution, anisotropic thermal expansion, and the mechanic response of the fiber samples. The relaxation processes can be related with an increasing amount of crystalline β‐phase in fibers drawn at different temperatures. The detailed information about phase transitions and the related temperatures are used to produce fibers with an extended amount of β‐phase crystallites, which are responsible for piezoelectric properties of the material. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The popularity of mobile devices, such as PDAs and SmartPhones, has grown rapidly over the last couple of years. Though most users still perform searches using desktop computers, it is expected that more and more people will also search the Web while they are on the move. In addition to text-based keyword queries, mobile devices can support richer and hybrid queries such as images, audio, video, and their combinations. In this paper, we will discuss mobile search systems that support image queries and audio queries, covering typical designs for mobile visual and audio search, as well as the opportunities and challenges. Specifically, we will present an in-depth study of two real systems we have developed: product image categorization and mobile ringtone search, which use image queries and audio queries, respectively. Experimental results on real-life data demonstrate their effectiveness and efficiency.  相似文献
