Critical, or national, information infrastructure protection, referred to as either CIIP or NIIP, has been highlighted as a critical factor in overall national security by the United States, the United Kingdom, India and the European Community. As nations move inexorably towards so-called ‘digital economies’, critical infrastructure depends on information systems to process, transfer, store and exchange information through the Internet. Electronic attacks such as denial of service attacks on critical information infrastructures challenge the law and raise concerns. A myriad of issues potentially plague the protection of critical information infrastructures owing to the lack of legal regulation aimed at ensuring the protection of critical information infrastructures. This paper will highlight the legal concerns that relate to the denial of service attacks on critical information infrastructures and provide an introductory overview of the law as it relates to CIIP in Australia.  相似文献

In this paper, we address the problem of determining whether a mobile robot, called the pursuer, is able to maintain strong mutual visibility (a visibility notion between regions over a convex partition of the environment) of an antagonist agent, called the evader. We frame the problem as a non cooperative game. We consider the case in which the pursuer and the evader move at bounded speed, traveling in a known polygonal environment with or without holes, and in which there are no restrictions as to the distance that might separate the agents. Unlike our previous efforts (Murrieta-Cid et al. in Int J Robot Res 26:233–253, 2007), we give special attention to the combinatorial problem that arises when searching for a solution through visiting several locations in an environment with obstacles. In this paper we take a step further, namely, we assume an antagonistic evader who moves continuously and unpredictably, but with a constraint over its set of admissible motion policies, as the evader moves in the shortest-path roadmap, also called the reduced visibility graph (RVG). The pursuer does not know which among the possible paths over the RVG the evader will choose, but the pursuer is free to move within all the environment. We provide a constructive method to solve the decision problem of determining whether or not the pursuer is able to maintain strong mutual visibility of the evader. This method is based on an algorithm that computes the safe areas (areas that keep evader surveillance) at all times. We prove decidability of this problem, and provide a complexity measure to this evader surveillance game; both contributions hold for any general polygonal environment that might or not contain holes. All our algorithms have been implemented and we show simulation results.  相似文献

We present four studies investigating tools and methodologies for artist-scientist-technologist collaboration in designing multivariate, virtual reality (VR) visualizations. Design study 1 identifies the promise of 3D drawing-style interfaces for VR design and also establishes limitations of these tools with respect to precision and support for animation. Design study 2 explores animating artist-created visualization designs with scientific 3D fluid flow data. While results captured an accurate sense of flow that was advantageous as compared to the results of study 1, the potential for visual exploration using the design tools tested was limited. Design study 3 reveals the importance of a new 3D interface that overcomes the precision limitation found in study 1 while remaining accessible to artist collaborators. Drawing upon previous results, design study 4 engages collaborative teams in a design process that begins with traditional paper sketching and moves to animated, interactive, VR prototypes "sketched" by designers in VR using interactive 3D tools. Conclusions from these four studies identify important characteristics of effective artist-accessible VR visualization design tools and lead to a proposed formalized methodology for successful collaborative design that we expect to be useful in guiding future collaborations. Data on the severities of the injuries to the drivers involved in two-vehicle crashes are presented and related to the relative masses of the vehicles. At any given mass ratio, there is found to be a positive correlation between the severities of injury to the two drivers. This arises because the relative velocity before impact is the same for both drivers in the one accident, but varies considerably between different accidents. The correlation may be modelled approximately by assuming relative velocity has a two-point distribution.  相似文献

A simple scheme for slot reuse without latency for the dual bus configuration is studied. The scheme relies on information read in the previous slot and will be referred to as previous slot information (PSI) slot reuse. The scheme requires a minimal addition to the station hardware and its reliability is high. The efficiency of PSI is checked over a wide range of parameters and is found to be almost as good as destination release. A novel circuit for measuring the infant mortality rate in InGaP/GaAs HBT Technology is presented. The circuit allows reliability stressing to be performed on as many as 100,000 transistors per wafer and is necessary in order to predict the infant circuit failure rate in circuits with >500 transistors without costly burn-in screens. This new circuit allows for the rapid identification of failed transistors and subsequent failure analysis to allow for process improvements. A variation of the same circuit has also been used to estimate the activation energy, Ea, of the infant failure mechanism. Rough estimates of Ea indicate that the infant failure mechanism is 0.5 eV, and that there may be two distinct failure mechanisms responsible for infant failures. Process defects have not been found on the vast majority of failed transistors, and there is good correlation between the substrate dislocation density and the infant failure rate. We have concluded that substrate dislocations are the leading cause of infant mortality in our HBT process.  相似文献

Scanned, single-channel optical heterodyne detection has been used in a variety of lidar applications from ranging and velocity measurements to differential absorption spectroscopy. We describe the design of a coherent camera system that is based on a two-dimensional staring array of heterodyne receivers for coherent imaging applications. Experimental results with a single HgCdTe detector translated in the image plane to form a synthetic two-dimensional array demonstrate the ability to obtain passive heterodyne images of chemical vapor plumes that are invisible to normal video infrared cameras. We describe active heterodyne imaging experiments with use of focal-plane arrays that yield hard-body Doppler lidar images and also demonstrate spatial averaging to reduce speckle effects in static coherent images.  相似文献

Felix 01 (F01) is a bacteriophage originally isolated by Felix and Callow which lyses almost all Salmonella strains and has been widely used as a diagnostic test for this genus. Molecular information about this phage is entirely lacking. In the present study, the DNA of the phage was found to be a double-stranded linear molecule of about 80 kb. 11.5 kb has been sequenced and in this region A + T content is 60%. There are relatively few restriction endonuclease cleavage sites in the native genome and clones show this is due to their absence rather than modification. A restriction map of the genome has been constructed. The ends of the molecule cannot be ligated although they contain 5' phosphates. At least 60% of the genome must encode proteins. In the sequenced portion, many open reading frames exist and these are tightly packed together. These have been examined for homology to published proteins but only 1 to 17 shows similarity to known proteins. F01 is therefore the prototype of a new phage family. On the basis of restriction sites, codon usage and the distribution of nonsense codons in the unused reading frames, a strong case can be made for natural selection that reacts to mRNA structure and function.  相似文献

We use Monod kinetics to calibrate previously published data that documentthe aerobic biodegradation of hydrocarbon vapors in soil microcosms from a weathered petroleum spill site. Monod kinetics offer insight into biodegradation mechanics because they address biomass growth as well as substrate depletion. A blend of five aromatics and five alkanes dose the microcosm sets at four strengths, and a finite difference model describes the response superimposed across the constituent substrates. An observed initial biomass X0 of 125 g biomass/m(3) soil moisture and an endogendous decay rate b of 0.102 day(-1) calibrate all four dosages and agree with heterotrophic plate counts. Common maximum specific growth rates microMJ and half saturation constants KSJ calibrate each constituent across the four dosages. The biodegradable alkanes exhibit microMJ values ranging from 0.0190 to 0.0996 day(-1), while the aromatic rates vary from 0.0946 to 0.322 day(-1). One of the alkanes (2,2,4-trimethylpentane) is recalcitrant. The half saturation constants range from 0.000083 to 0.000355 g substrate/m(3) soil moisture for the biodegradable alkanes, which imply zero-order kinetics. The aromatic KSJ values vary from 5.02 to 14.3 g substrate/m(3) soil moisture, and suggest first-order kinetics. The yield YJ increases with dosage concentration for all the biodegradable constituents, varying from 0.0533 to 1.58 g biomass/g substrate.  相似文献
