Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) show advantageous characteristics, such as an ordered pore structure and a large surface area for gas storage and separation, energy storage, catalysis, and molecular separation. However, COFs usually exist as difficult-to-process powders, and preparing continuous, robust, flexible, foldable, and rollable COF membranes is still a challenge. Herein, such COF membranes with fiber morphology for the first time prepared via a newly introduced template-assisted framework process are reported. This method uses electrospun porous polymer membranes as a sacrificial large dimension template for making self-standing COF membranes. The porous COF fiber membranes, besides having high crystallinity, also show a large surface area (1153 m2 g−1), good mechanical stability, excellent thermal stability, and flexibility. This study opens up the possibility of preparation of large dimension COF membranes and their derivatives in a simple way and hence shows promise in technical applications in separation, catalysis, and energy in the future. 相似文献

Lake Erie's food web has been dramatically modified by exotic species. Both exotic dreissenid mussels and the round goby Neogobius melanastomus have shifted the food web from a pelagicbased to a benthic-based one, potentially creating a new pathway for contaminant transfer to top predators. Before the invasion of round gobies, few predators of dreissenids occurred in Lake Erie, allowing contaminants to be confined to these benthic organisms. The invasion of the round goby has produced a new pathway through which these contaminants can enter the food web. To characterize heavy-metal transfer through this new food web and to assess risk to humans, water, surficial sediment, dreissenid, round goby, and smallmouth bass Micropterus dolomieui samples were collected at three sites during summers, 2002 and 2003, and analyzed for total lead (Pb), total mercury (Hg), and methyl mercury (MeHg). In addition, we compared smallmouth bass Pb and Hg concentrations to those measured in 1993/1994, before round gobies were prevalent. Pb biodiminished and MeHg biomagnified through the food web to smallmouth bass; patterns were similar among our three sites. Total Pb concentrations in smallmouth bass were higher before the incorporation of round gobies into their diet. We attributed this decline to changes in food web structure, changes in contaminant burdens in prey, or declines in sediment Pb concentrations in Lake Erie. By comparison, Hg concentrations in smallmouth bass changed little, before and after the round goby invasion, possibly due to a shift in diet that increased growth. Despite a decline in sediment Hg concentrations in Lake Erie, smallmouth bass continued to accumulate Hg at historical rates possibly because of their high consumption rates of benthivorous round gobies. As smallmouth bass continue to consume round gobies during their lives, their Hg concentrations may well continue to increase, potentially increasing the risk of Hg contamination to humans. 相似文献

Infinitely thin opaque screens serving for diaphragms as defined in the visible-light optics are not feasible for operation with X-ray beams due to their high penetrability. Micro-openings of predicted sidewall shape in a gold layer up to 140 μm thick which would provide low transparency, are proposed. The proposed micro-openings were made using the LIGA technique and tested successfully at photon energies of up to 25 keV. To increase the storage density of hard disk drives, the flying height of the slider needs to be reduced to <10 nm. This requires super-smooth surfaces of the disk and slider. As the roughness decreases, stiction and adhesion are found to increase substantially leading to failures of the head/disk interface. Texturing the slider surface is a well-known approach to this issue. In this study we investigated laser ablation as a potential process for texturing magnetic recording sliders. Photoelectric observations of short term light variations (shadow bands) at the 16 Feb. 1980 total solar eclipse have been made using a set of spatially separated PIN diodes. Light variations in a bandpass of 1-500 Hz were detected during the half-minutes preceding and following the total phase. Fourier analysis of the noise spectrum of the variations reveals a sharp drop-off for frequencies above 50 Hz and an overall spectrum quite similar to previously reported power spectra of stellar scintillation. This is consistent with an atmospheric origin for the shadow bands. Cross-correlations between the detector outputs are low, suggesting a short persistence time for the turbulent elements causing the patterns. 相似文献

Heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) is one of the most promising techniques to extend the recording density in hard disk drives beyond 1?Tb/in2. Although the diameter of the spot on the disk that is heated by the laser beam is very small, on the order of nanometers, high local temperatures on the disk and the heat dissipated in the slider during the light delivery process can cause thermal deformations of both the disk and the slider, thereby affecting the flying characteristics at the head-disk interface. In this paper, a finite element model is developed which incorporates a HAMR optical system into a thermal flying height control (TFC) slider with dual heater/insulator elements to study the effect of heat dissipation in the wave guide on the thermal deformation and flying characteristics of a HAMR-TFC slider. Contact between a slider and bit patterned media (BPM) is investigated using finite element analysis. The effect of contact conditions and material properties at the interface between slider and disk on plastic deformation and temperature is studied. In addition, the planarization of bit pattern media on temperature and plastic deformation is investigated for different filler materials. The use of patterned media is a new approach proposed to extend the recording densities of hard disk drives beyond 1 Tb/in.2. Bit-patterned media (BPM) overcome the thermal stability problems of conventional media by using single-domain islands for
each bit of recorded information, thereby eliminating the magnetic transition noise (Albrecht et al., Magnetic Recording on
Patterned Media, 2003). Considering steady state conditions, we have transferred the pattern from the disk surface onto the
slider surface and have investigated the pressure generation due to the bit pattern. To reduce the numerical complexity, we
have generated the bit pattern only in the areas of the slider near the trailing edge, where the spacing is small. Cylindrical
protrusions were modeled using very small mesh size on the order of nanometers to obtain the flying characteristics for the
entire slider air bearing surface (ABS) using the “CMRR” finite element Reynolds equation simulator (Duwensee et al., Microsyst

The Bernoulli head/disk interface is investigated using interferometry as well as the measurement of acoustic emission, normal force, and disk deflection. The dependence of head-to-disk spacing on radial head position and velocity for upper and lower heads is measured by monochromatic light interferometry. Acoustic emission measurements are used to study intermittent contacts between head and flexible disk. The normal force between the head and the disk h measured and is found to correlate with the acoustic emission signal. The disk deflection characteristics show that the normal force at the head/disk interface is related to the vertical displacement of the head. The normal force at the head/disk interface is determined from the relative disk deflection using the disk stiffness in the normal direction and compared with the measured force. 相似文献
