The increase of Vibrio infections especially associated with the consumption of contaminated seafood and fish underlines the necessity of an efficient monitoring system for Vibrio spp. supported by appropriate detection tools both in food products and in clinical samples. The aim of this study was the evaluation of the reliability of the collagenase‐targeted multiplex‐polymerase chain reaction (m‐PCR) for the detection of Vibrio alginolyticus, Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio parahaemolyticus in shellfish samples enriched in alkaline peptone water (APW). The coupling of a pre‐enrichment phase of the samples with the specificity of the PCR‐based assay was applied successfully to the detection of V. alginolyticus and V. parahaemolyticus, demonstrating that collagenase‐target m‐PCR may be used as a valid molecular target to discriminate the three Vibrio species.  相似文献

Despite several decades of research and development in the field of pattern recognition, the general problem of recognizing complex patterns with arbitrary orientations, locations, and scales remains unsolved and normally is applied using iterative manual evaluation of the detection results. This problem is becoming increasingly important with the growing number of massive archives of solar images produced by instruments located at ground-based observatories and aboard current satellites such as YOHKOH, SOHO and TRACE, with future satellites such as SOLAR B, SDO and STEREO in prospect. The size of expected archives requires a new automated approach to digital image processing and data extraction with robust and efficient pattern recognition techniques to be developed and implemented. This review evaluates techniques for the standardisation in shape and intensity of solar images and summarises the existing manual and semi-automated feature recognition techniques applied to a representative range of solar features, including sunspots, filaments, active regions, flares, coronal mass ejections and magnetic neutral lines. The review also surveys the most recent fully-automated detection techniques developed for the creation of Solar Feature Catalogues of sunspots, active regions and filaments for the European Grid of Solar Observations. The survey is aimed to help researchers and students to learn about the recognition techniques applied to astrophysical images with different levels of noise and distortions and to work effectively with the Solar Feature Catalogue.  相似文献

The nutraceutical resveratrol is associated with a range of biological effects, from antibiotic to anti-inflammatory activities. One major axis of research has sought to harness its anti-tumour potential, with promising preclinical results and early clinical trials. A second strong interest relies on the anti-ageing effects ascribed to the compound and its application to stem cell research. It is becoming clear however that these possible favourable effects are conditioned by a set concentration range not easily controllable in vivo. Here we evoke novel developments in the field that could lead to more reliable conditions for the translational use of resveratrol-based compounds.  相似文献

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is the site of entry of all proteins that function in the secretory pathway including the extracellular environment. Because it controls the folding of newly synthesized secretory proteins, the ER is indispensable for the maintenance of proteostasis in the secretory pathway. Within the ER and, in part, in post-ER compartments, the quality control of protein folding is under the regulation of the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathways. The UPR strategy is to enhance protein folding, increase the ER degradation pathway of misfolded proteins, and allow the exit from the ER of only correctly folded proteins. The latter is controlled by the multimeric complex COPII, which also provides some of the components for ER-phagy the only route for the disposal of protein aggregates. In this overview, we wish to contribute to the introduction of new perspectives in the study of the mechanisms underlying the control of proteostasis within the secretory pathway.  相似文献

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the influence of medium pH and inoculation time on the growth and malolactic activity of an Oenococcus oeni culture. Samples of a commercial white grape juice adjusted to pH 3.2, 3.4 or 3.6, and inoculated with Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain CY3079, were inoculated with a malolactic culture ( Oenococcus oeni strain 31) at the beginning, middle, and end of alcoholic fermentation. The results obtained from this single case study show that it is possible to inoculate the bacterial culture at the three different times during alcoholic fermentation without slowing down or stopping alcoholic fermentation or causing failure of MLF. However, pH and timing of bacterial inoculation were critical to how rapidly MLF starts. At pH 3.2 a lowering of bacterial viability was observed, but a more important reduction was recorded at all tested pH levels when the bacteria were inoculated halfway through alcoholic fermentation. When inoculation was carried out at the end of alcoholic fermentation, the presence of yeast seemed to favour bacterial viability and activity and bacteria performed MLF even in difficult conditions such as pH values around 3. In all wines malolactic fermentation was accompanied by total degradation of malic and citric acids and production of L-lactic acid, D-lactic and acetic acids.  相似文献
