A new class of multimedia applications require new mechanisms to consider various Quality of Services with respect to resource constraints so that they could support reliable services and utilize available resources optimally. In this paper we present a new analytical and generic resource management model that is QoS-based. The approach for resource allocation and relevant algorithms is based on a mathematically proved model that manages resource and QoS allocation intelligently so that the total system utility of is maximized. We use the constructs of application benefit functions and resource demand functions to represent the system configuration and to solve the resource allocation problems. Extensive surveys on the related work including systematic and analytical approaches are also presented.  相似文献

In the future, most mobile nodes will have multiple radio interfaces, and this feature can be exploited to reduce the transmission cost in wireless data access applications. In this work, we propose cooperative poll-each-read (CoopPER) and cooperative callback (CoopCB) wireless data access algorithms with strong consistency in multi-radio wireless networks. In addition, we investigate CoopPER and CoopCB in heterogeneous wireless networks where CoopPER and CoopCB nodes are mixed. Extensive simulations are done to show the effects of access-to-update ratio, data access pattern, cache size, and cooperation range. Simulation results demonstrate that CoopPER and CoopCB can significantly reduce the expensive transmission cost over wireless links.  相似文献

Thermal sensation is an important channel for getting information. Whereas there has been significant progress in the development of technologies controlling the heat to simulate thermal sensation, there is a lack of understanding about how to utilize it in designing interactive systems. We propose the term “thermal expression” to signify the activity of controlling a particular amount of heat with intention or the heat generated as a result of that activity to crystallize our new view to the heat and a systematic way of thinking about the quality and the structure of the thermal expression. Focusing on the interpersonal communication domain, we explored the expressive quality of the heat through a prototyping approach deploying the heat-based communication devices that we developed in the daily life environment of normal users. We discovered the characteristics of thermal expression and the design opportunities for thermal application development, especially for interpersonal communication. The emotional value and the role of heat as a communication medium are discussed.  相似文献

Among many of 2D semiconductor-based devices, type III PN junction diodes are given special attentions due to their unique function, negative differential resistance (NDR). However, it has been found uneasy to achieve well-matched type III PN junctions from 2D–2D van der Waals heterojunctions. Here, the authors present other alternatives of type III heterojunctions, using 2D p-MoTe2/organic n-type dipyrazino[2,3-f:2′,3′-h]quinoxaline-2,3,6,7,10,11-hexacarbonitrile (HAT-CN) and 2D p-WSe2/n-MoOx systems. Those junction diodes appear to well-demonstrate static and dynamic NDR behavior via resonant tunneling and electron–hole recombination. Extended to an inverter circuit, p-MoTe2/n-HAT-CN diode enables multilevel inverter characteristics as monolithically integrated with p-MoTe2 channel field effect transistor. The same NDR diode shows dynamic LC oscillation behavior under a constant DC voltage, connected to an external inductor. From p-WSe2/n-MoOx oxide diode, similar NDR behavior to those of p-MoTe2/n-HAT-CN is again observed along with LC oscillations. The authors attribute these visible oscillation results to high peak-to-valley current ratios of their organic or oxide/2D heterojunction diodes.  相似文献

Gallium trioxide, β-Ga2O3, has been recently studied due to its promising semiconducting properties as active material in transistors or Schottky diodes. Transistors with β-Ga2O3 channels are mostly metal oxide field effect transistors (MOSFET), and they show very negative threshold voltages (Vth) in general. Metal semiconductor field effect transistors (MESFETs) with top gate are also reported with less negative Vth. Still, β-Ga2O3 MESFETs are only a few. Here, bottom gate architecture β-Ga2O3 MESFETs using transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) NbS2 and TaS2 are reported. Due to the large work functions of those metallic TMDs, the MESFETs display minimum subthreshold swing of 61 mV dec−1, small Vth of −1.2 V, minimum OFF ID of ≈100 fA, and maximum ON/OFF current ratio of ≈108. Both β-Ga2O3 Schottky diodes with TaS2 and NbS2 display good junction stability even after 300 °C measurements in 10 mTorr vacuum. When the β-Ga2O3 MESFET with TaS2 gate is integrated as a switching FET into an organic light emitting diode (OLED) circuit, it demonstrates long-term leakage endurance performance, maintaining an OLED brightness higher than 58% of the initial intensity after 100 s passes since the ON-switching point, which is even superior to the performance of conventional a-IGZO MOSFET switch.  相似文献

In-vessel and ex-vessel mitigation strategies have been revisited to improve the severe accident management (SAM) for operating nuclear power plants. Because independent mitigation measures tend to produce positive and adverse effects simultaneously, it is necessary to investigate the efficacy of individual measures by means of proper quantification. Thus, in the present study we investigated the overall efficacy of existing SA mitigation strategies prepared for the Optimized Power Reactor 1000 MWe (OPR1000) by means of MELCOR 1.8.6 code. The numerical evaluation showed that the Mitigation-01, feeding water into the steam generators, is the most effective among the other mitigations. In addition, Mitigation-02, reactor coolant system depressurization, could not mitigate the SA sufficiently when applied individually. Among the four ex-vessel mitigation strategies, execution of containment spray was effective in removing most of the aerosol fission product but also intensified hydrogen combustion by increasing the partial hydrogen pressure owing to steam condensation. Mitigation-07, operation of passive autocatalytic recombiners (PARs), could reduce the hydrogen concentration, though the catalytic reaction was predicted to increase the containment pressure. In conclusion, this study suggests that mitigation measures should be carefully selected, and that counteracting measures should be prepared to minimize potential adverse effects.  相似文献

Tag collision arbitration for passive RFID tags is a significant issue for fast tag identification. This letter presents a novel tag anti-collision scheme called adaptive binary splitting (ABS). For reducing collisions, ABS assigns distinct timeslots to tags by using information obtained from the last identification process. Our performance evaluation shows that ABS outperforms other tree based tag anti-collision protocols.  相似文献

Network Mobility (NEMO) basic support protocol enables seamless mobility in vehicular networks. In this paper, we analyze the session handoff probability in NEMO-based vehicular environments. We develop analytical models for the session handoff probability. In particular, we derive the session handoff probabilities for riding and taking off users. Numerical results are given to illustrate the effects of the cell residence time, the numbers of road segments/intersections, the velocity, and the signal delay.  相似文献
