Highly mesoporous carbon xerogels (CXs) were synthesized using two different resorcinol to catalyst, R/C, molar ratios and functionalized with different oxidation treatments. The synthesized carbon materials were used as supports for Pt particles, deposited by impregnation and reduction in formic acid. Both carbon supports and the catalysts prepared were characterized by means of N2 physisorption, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, temperature programmed desorption and X-ray diffraction. The electrochemical activity of the catalysts towards the oxidation of carbon monoxide and methanol was assayed by means of cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. Textural characterization of the materials prepared evidenced more developed and mesopore-enriched porous structure for the carbon xerogel prepared using the highest R/C molar ratio. Enhanced textural properties of this material led to the preparation of highly active Pt-catalysts, which showed increased tolerance to CO and higher activity in methanol electro-oxidation, in comparison to Pt-E-TEK and the catalysts prepared in an analogous way using Vulcan XC-72R carbon black as support. Functionalization treatments resulted in enhanced dispersion, lower Pt crystal size and improved catalytic performance in the case of the catalysts prepared using the carbon xerogel possessing a less developed porous structure. Pt agglomeration was found to strongly determine the activity of the catalysts prepared. At high potentials, i.e. 1 V vs. RHE, the catalyst prepared using the carbon xerogel submitted to the most stringent oxidation treatment showed the highest specific peak activity towards methanol electro-oxidation, probably due to the positive influence of the presence of oxygen surface groups in Pt-carbon interaction, in spite of the higher agglomeration extent confirmed by TEM. On the other hand, at 0.60 V vs. RHE, highest activity towards methanol electro-oxidation was determined for the catalysts prepared using the non-functionalized carbon xerogel which can be explained in terms of enhanced reactant/product diffusion together with intrinsic higher catalytic activity due to lower Pt crystal size. In any case, the activity of this catalyst prepared using a carbon xerogel as support was found to be more than 2 times higher than the one determined for Pt/E-TEK, confirming the considerable improvement of the electrocatalytic system by means of optimization of the carbon support employed.  相似文献

After hydrothermal pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis of wheat straw, a slurry rich in lignin but with a high content of inorganic substances, especially silica, and residual carbohydrates is produced. This slurry was used to develop an ethanol organosolv separation method to produce silica-free lignin fractions. The addition of para toluene sulphonic acid (PTSA) and the use of two alternative long-chain alcohols, oleyl alcohol or nonylphenol, were tested. In every reaction, two lignin fractions were produced and their molecular size and elemental composition were characterized. The yield of each fraction and the change in MWD were studied as a function of temperature and solid to liquid ratio. At 100, 150, and 200°C and with the use of PTSA, high-purity lignin fractions were obtained. After lignin fractionation with nonylphenol, a liquid silica-free product with high lignin content was obtained in yields between 17 and 72%.  相似文献

A homoepitaxial boron-doped diamond single layer is investigated by means of Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and cathodoluminescence (CL). Both techniques are shown to be complementary. µ-FTIR mapping allows to determine the location of active boron while CL allows discernability between passivation and compensation. Hydrogen incorporation during chemical vapour deposition (CVD) growth is revealed to passivate boron acceptors. The obtained results highlight that plasma etching can induce a dissociation of B–H centres.  相似文献

This article deals with how a female member of the elite from the period of the Portuguese dictatorial regime (1933–1974) used Lisbon’s gardens to implement a free childhood education and assistance programme for poor children – the Children’s Parks programme. The Children’s Parks were located in some of Lisbon’s most attractive gardens, housed in pavilions that were directly connected to outdoor spaces. These spaces responded to the educational purposes of the programme, based on the importance of leisure and play activities in outdoor spaces and linked to children’s moral, social, and physical development. In considering the living conditions experienced by children within the context of the Portuguese dictatorship, and by highlighting the way in which these were reflected at the level of architecture and the urban space, the paper seeks to contribute towards an understanding of the place of the child in the history of architecture and urbanism. Besides reflecting the social and educational identity of the project, the urban and architectural settings of the programme were crucial for its success. The interpretation of this case provides a basis for reflecting on the historical and current significance of children’s spaces, and for examining a number of social, educational, architectural, and urban questions.  相似文献

CTLA-4 is expressed on T cells after activation and shares homology with the CD28 costimulatory receptor. In contrast to CD28, CTLA-4 is thought to be a negative regulator of T cell activation. Cross-linking of CTLA-4 during activation of peripheral T cells reduces IL-2 production and arrests T cells in G1. Much less is known about the function of CTLA-4 in differentiated T cells. We have investigated the expression and function of CTLA-4 in established Th1 and Th2 clones and in bulk populations of Th1 and Th2 cells freshly derived in vitro from TCR transgenic splenocytes. We found that CTLA-4 was induced under similar conditions and with similar kinetics following activation of both Th1 and Th2 clones. However, CTLA-4 expression was much higher in Th2 than Th1 clones and lines. This was confirmed by flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and Northern blot analysis. The ratio of surface to intracellular expression of CTLA-4 and its rate of endocytosis were similar in Th1 and Th2 clones. Inhibition of binding of CTLA-4 to its ligands using soluble anti-CTLA-4 mAb during stimulation with Ag increased the production not only of IL-2 by Th1 clones, but also that of IL-3 and IFN-gamma by Th1 clones and of IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and IL-10 by Th2 clones. In contrast, when anti-CTLA-4 was coimmobilized with anti-CD3 and anti-CD28 mAbs, a decrease in the production of multiple cytokines was observed. We conclude that CTLA-4 can function to suppress the production of cytokines produced by both Th1 and Th2 cells.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Familial persistent microhematuria with normal renal function is the most common presentation of thin basement membrane nephropathy (TBMN). Gross hematuria episodes and loin pain attacks are other manifestations of the disease. On the other hand, it has been shown that hypercalciuria (HC) and hyperuricosuria (HU) can produce both gross or microscopic non-glomerular hematuria, in addition to their role in renal stone formation. METHODS: We studied the prevalence of HC, HU and nephrolithiasis in a group of 27 biopsy-proven TBMN as well as in 19 non-biopsied first-degree relatives with persistent microhematuria and 25 first-degree relatives without microhematuria. A group of 27 patients with IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and persistent microhematuria, and another group of 20 healthy subjects without known renal diseases were selected as control groups. RESULTS: Ten (37%) patients with TBMN and 8 (42%) relatives with microhematuria showed HC and/or HU at presentation; relatives without microhematuria, IgAN patients and normal controls showed a significantly lower prevalence of HC and HU. The prevalence of previous nephrolithiasis among TBMN patients (25%) was significantly higher than in IgAN patients (3%; P < 0.05). Family history of nephrolithiasis was recorded in 14 (51%) of the 27 TBMN families, in contrast with 2 of 27 (7%) with IgAN and 1 of 20 (5%) in normal controls (P < 0.05). The prevalence of nephrolithiasis, gross hematuria bouts and loin pain episodes among TBMN patients and microhematuric relatives showing HC and/or HU at presentation (44%, 44% and 27%, respectively) were significantly higher than those of TBMN patients and microhematuric relatives with normal calcium and uric acid urinary excretions (10%, 7% and 3%, respectively; P < 0.05). At the end of follow-up (8.8+/-4.1 years in TBMN patients and 9.1+/-4.2 years in relatives with microhematuria), all the cases maintained normal renal function. CONCLUSIONS: We found a high prevalence of HC, HU, and nephrolithiasis among TBMN patients and relatives with microhematuria. Our study also shows a significant relationship between the presence of HC and/or HU and the prevalence of nephrolithiasis, gross hematuria bouts and loin pain episodes.  相似文献
