The aim of this work was to establish the important parameters that control the hot compaction behaviour of woven oriented polypropylene. Five commercial woven cloths, based on four different polypropylene polymers, were selected so that the perceived important variables could be studied. These include the mechanical properties of the original oriented tapes or fibres, the geometry of the oriented reinforcement (fibres or tapes), the mechanical properties of the base polymer (which are crucially dependant on the molecular weight and morphology), and the weave style. The five cloths were chosen so as to explore the boundaries of these various parameters, i.e. low and high molecular weight: circular or rectangular reinforcement (fibres or tapes): low or high tape initial orientation: coarse or fine weave.A vital aspect of this study was the realisation that hot compacted polypropylene could be envisaged as a composite, comprising an oriented ‘reinforcement’ bound together by a matrix phase, formed by melting and recrystallisation of the original oriented material. We have established the crucial importance of the properties of the melted and recrystallised matrix phase, especially the level of ductility, in controlling the properties of the hot compacted composite. 相似文献

Filtering algorithms are well accepted as a means of speeding up the solution of the consistent labeling problem (CLP). Despite the fact that path consistency does a better job of filtering than arc consistency, AC is still the preferred technique because it has a much lower time complexity. We are implementing parallel path consistency algorithms on multiprocessors and comparing their performance to the best sequential and parallel arc consistency algorithms.(1,2) (See also work by Kerethoet al.
(3) and Kasif(4)) Preliminary work has shown linear performance increases for parallelized path consistency and also shown that in many cases performance is significantly better than the theoretical worst case. These two results lead us to believe that parallel path consistency may be a superior filtering technique. to break up into oxide clusters, causing epitaxial realignment of the polycrystalline silicon layer with respect to the silicon
substrate. Anomalous transient enhanced diffusion occurs during epitaxial realignment and this has adverse effects on the
leakage characteristics of the shallow junctions formed in the silicon substrate using this technique. The degradation in

Vinyl versatate, butyl acrylate and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate were compared as comonomer, for colloid-stabilized vinyl acetate latex polymers to assess their impact on latex coating properties. Vinyl versatate afforded advantages in scrub resistance, gloss, hydrophobicity and higher glass transition temperatures. Butyl acrylate developed better wet adhesion efficiency, gel content and hiding efficiency. 2-Ethylhexyl acrylate offered performance comparable to butyl acrylate in hiding efficiency, lowering copolymer glass transition temperatures, and gloss development. Combinations of these monomers, in many instances, afforded a better balance of performance properties than individual monomers alone. In the subject study, a simplex-centroid design was utilized to statistically map polymer compositions for determining the effect of comonomer composition on latex and paint film properties. BACKGROUND: Modular polyketide synthases (PKSs) are large multifunctional proteins that catalyze the biosynthesis of structurally complex bioactive products. The modular organization of PKSs has allowed the application of a combinatorial approach to the synthesis of novel polyketides via the manipulation of these biocatalysts at the genetic level. The inherent specificity of PKSs for their natural substrates, however, may place limits on the spectrum of molecular diversity that can be achieved in polyketide products. With the aim of further understanding PKS specificity, as a route to exploiting PKSs in combinatorial synthesis, we chose to examine the substrate specificity of a single intact domain within a bimodular PKS to investigate its capacity to utilize unnatural substrates. RESULTS: We used a blocked mutant of a bimodular PKS in which formation of the triketide product could occur only via uptake and processing of a synthetic diketide intermediate. By introducing systematic changes in the native diketide structure, by means of the synthesis of unnatural diketide analogs, we have shown that the ketosynthase domain of module 2 (KS2 domain) in 6-deoxyerythronolide B synthase (DEBS) tolerates a broad range of variations in substrate structure, but it strongly discriminates against some others. CONCLUSIONS: Defining the boundaries of substrate recognition within PKS domains is crucial to the rationally engineered biosynthesis of novel polyketide products, many of which could be prepared only with great difficulty, if at all, by direct chemical synthesis or semi-synthesis. Our results suggest that the KS2 domain of DEBS1 has a relatively relaxed specificity that can be exploited for the design and synthesis of medicinally important polyketide products. 相似文献

A dimensional analysis based on four parameters has been developed previously to predict injection pressure; clamp force, and bulk temperature for the injection molding of amorphous materials in center-gated disk-shaped cavities. In this paper geometric and semicrystalline-materials approximations are introduced and tested for extending the previous analysis to include multigated thin cavities and semicrystalline materials. The combination of these approximations and the previous analysis, known hereafter as the Radial Flow Method (RFM), greatly simplifies the analysis of mold filling. The geometric approximation, which is based on a simple model for the axial stress distribution in the cavity, is shown to give reasonable predictions when compared with experimental data and a numerical two-directional flow simulation for the filling of an off-center-gated rectangular cavity with acrylonitrilebutadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS). The semicrystallinematerials approximation, in which heat capacity and viscosity changes during crystallization are neglected, is shown to give good agreement with experimental data for the filling of a center-gated disk-shaped cavity with polypropylene. As an illustration, the Radial Flow Method is used to analyze the molding of a large, thin-wall automobile interior trim panel. The inlet melt temperature, mold-wall temperature, part thickness, injection rate, viscosity and gate locations are varied in a series of calculations to determine the relative effectiveness of these variables in lowering the injection pressure and Clamp force.
