In-air epitaxy of nanostructures (Aerotaxy) has recently emerged as a viable route for fast, large-scale production. In this study, we use small-angle X-ray scattering to perform direct in-flight characterizations of the first step of this process, i.e., the engineered formation of Au and Pt aerosol nanoparticles by spark generation in a flow of N2 gas. This represents a particular challenge for characterization because the particle density can be extremely low in controlled production. The particles produced are examined during production at operational pressures close to atmospheric conditions and exhibit a lognormal size distribution ranging from 5–100 nm. The Au and Pt particle production and detection are compared. We observe and characterize the nanoparticles at different stages of synthesis and extract the corresponding dominant physical properties, including the average particle diameter and sphericity, as influenced by particle sintering and the presence of aggregates. We observe highly sorted and sintered spherical Au nanoparticles at ultra-dilute concentrations (< 5 × 105 particles/cm3) corresponding to a volume fraction below 3 × 10–10, which is orders of magnitude below that of previously measured aerosols. We independently confirm an average particle radius of 25 nm via Guinier and Kratky plot analysis. Our study indicates that with high-intensity synchrotron beams and careful consideration of background removal, size and shape information can be obtained for extremely low particle concentrations with industrially relevant narrow size distributions.
An intracellular endopeptidase was purified from cell-free extracts of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus B14 by anion exchange chromatography on DEAE-Sepharose, hydroxyapatite chromatography, second anion exchange chromatography on Mono-Q, and metal-chelating affinity chromatography. The endopeptidase was a monomer with a molecular mass of approximately 70 kDa determined by SDS-PAGE and gel filtration. Various oligopeptides (e.g. Met-enkephalin, bradykinin) were hydrolysed by the endopeptidase. Exopeptidase activity and cleavage of dipeptides or tripeptides was not observed. The KM value for the cleavage of Metenkephalin was 1.2 mM. Temperature and pH optima were 47 °C and pH 7.7, respectively. The endopeptidase was inhibited by the classical agents for metal-dependent (EDTA) and serine (DFP) enzymes. Activity was increased by Co2+ and Mg2+, no effect was observed with Ca2+. After inhibition with EDTA, enzyme activity could be restored fully by Co2+. Activity was inhibited by Zn2+, Mn2+, Fe2+, Cu2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+. The N-terminal sequence of the endopeptidase was determined as: H2N-Val-Arg-Gly-Gly-Ser-Gly-Asp-Thr-Thr-Val-0H. 相似文献
This paper presents a new method for evaluating transmission loss, which is a key factor used in determining the impact of interference between terrestrial radio relay systems and Earth-satellite systems operating at the same frequency. The current model used by the CCIR was developed in the early 1970's when system packing density was low and large earth station antennas allowed the consideration of narrow beam approximations, resulting in a small common volume of intersection of the two beams. The recent increase in microwave communications traffic and improvements in technology have meant that smaller earth station antennas, including very small aperture terminals (VSATs), can be employed and hence the model requires revision. Results from the new model proposed are compared with two experimental geometries and good agreement is found 相似文献
Mastocytosis is characterized by the pathological accumulation of mast cells (MC) in various organs. In these patients, MC may degranulate and thereby contribute to clinical symptoms, especially when a concomitant allergy is present. However, MC activation can not only be induced by high-affinity receptors for IgE, but also by anaphylatoxins, neuropeptides, IgG immune complexes, complement-components, drugs, products of bacteria or parasites, as well as physical factors such as heat, cold, vibration, stress, sun, or physical effort. Symptoms due to mediators released by activated MC may develop in adults suffering from systemic mastocytosis, but also evolve in children who usually have cutaneous mastocytosis (CM). Clinically, CM is otherwise characterized by typical brown, maculopapular skin lesions or mastocytoma associated with a positive Darier’s sign. Pruritus and flushing are common and blistering may also be recorded, especially in diffuse CM (DCM). Pediatric patients with mastocytosis may also have gastrointestinal, respiratory, and neurologic complaints. Although anaphylaxis is not a typical finding, pediatric patients with massive skin involvement and high tryptase levels have a relatively high risk to develop anaphylaxis. This paper reviews MC mediator-related symptoms and anaphylaxis in children with mastocytosis, with special emphasis on risk factors, triggers, and management. 相似文献

Numerical simulations are used to estimate the dynamic behavior of new concepts of forming presses as well as to improve the
dynamic properties of existing machines. These simulations are to be parametrized with appropriate values in order to yield
most accurate results. In many cases neither the way of building up the simulation model for the specific problem nor an appropriate
method for gathering the needed date are given in advance. Regarding these facts this paper intends both to characterize the
way of building up complex simulation models by using basic simulation modules and to describe methods for the identification
of the needed parameters that work even under conditions that hitherto made parameter identifications impossible or at least
very time-consuming. In this context recent developments in simulating press dynamics will also be characterized as new modal
analysis methods that are not yet established in the field of forming technique.

This paper presents an empirical study of control logic specifications used to document industrial control logic code in manufacturing applications. More than one hundred input/output related property specifications from ten different reusable function blocks were investigated. The main purpose of the study was to provide understanding of how the specifications are expressed by industrial practitioners, in order to develop new tools and methods for specifying control logic software, as well as for evaluating existing ones. In this paper, the studied specifications are used to evaluate linear temporal logic in general and the specification language ST-LTL, tailored for functions blocks, in particular. The study shows that most specifications are expressed as implications, that should always be fulfilled, between input and output conditions. Many of these implications are complex since the input and output conditions may be mixed and involve sequences, timer issues and non-boolean variables. Using ST-LTL it was possible to represent all implications of this study. The few non-implication specifications could be specified in ST-LTL as well after being altered to suit the specification language. The paper demonstrates some advantages of ST-LTL compared to standard linear temporal logic and discusses possible improvements such as support for automatic rewrite of complex specifications. 相似文献
A single-stage “wet impactor” is presented, where the impaction occurs on a regenerated water surface. The developed impactor is equipped with an impaction liquid support plate of etched glass and a drain spout providing a continuous liquid flow covering the impaction area. Subsequent transport of the impaction liquid makes an on-line determination possible. With multiple nozzles (74 holes, 0.3 mm i.d.) and an air flow of 101/min the cut-off was determined to 0.41 ± 0.02 μm. The impactor was also investigated for its particle loss. The cut-off function, regarding the consequences of letting impaction occur in a liquid film is discussed and compared to conventional impactors. The analysis technique was tested in an ambient air measurement study with an ion chromatograph attached to the sampling system. 相似文献
A single-step dip-coating technique was developed to produce stable films or washcoats of controlled thickness, surface area and pore-size distribution on alumina whisker-covered metal substrates (both flat plates and monoliths). Dip-coating slurries were prepared by dispersing fine porous powder in a colloidal silica sol. The method provided control over coating thickness and coating properties, such as pore-size distribution and surface area. The coating thickness could be varied between approximately 2 and 40 m by selecting slurry composition and withdrawal speed in the dipping procedure. The pore-size distribution and surface area could be varied by changing type and amount of porous filler material in the dipping slurry. Uniform and bimodal pore-size distributions were obtained using silica and ZSM-5 molecular sieves, respectively, yielding coatings with surface areas between 60 and 400 m2g–1. 相似文献
Psychophysical research on text legibility has historically investigated factors such as size, colour and contrast, but there has been relatively little direct empirical evaluation of typographic design itself, particularly in the emerging context of glance reading. In the present study, participants performed a lexical decision task controlled by an adaptive staircase method. Two typefaces, a ‘humanist’ and ‘square grotesque’ style, were tested. Study I examined positive and negative polarities, while Study II examined two text sizes. Stimulus duration thresholds were sensitive to differences between typefaces, polarities and sizes. Typeface also interacted significantly with age, particularly for conditions with higher legibility thresholds. These results are consistent with previous research assessing the impact of the same typefaces on interface demand in a simulated driving environment. This simplified methodology of assessing legibility differences can be adapted to investigate a wide array of questions relevant to typographic and interface designs.
Practitioner Summary: A method is described for rapidly investigating relative legibility of different typographical features. Results indicate that during glance-like reading induced by the psychophysical technique and under the lighting conditions considered, humanist-style type is significantly more legible than a square grotesque style, and that black-on-white text is significantly more legible than white-on-black. 相似文献
