A fully integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) radio is presented. Low-IF architecture was used for a high level of integration and low power consumption. An on-chip analog image-reject filter provides 18 dB of image-noise rejection to prevent noise figure (NF) degradation. With image rejection performed in the analog radio, a single-path (nonquadrature) output was used. The integrated synthesizer only requires an off-chip phase-locked loop-filter to function. Implemented in a 0.35-/spl mu/m 2P4M CMOS process, the integrated radio has a chip area of 9.5 mm/sup 2/. The radio operates over a wide range of voltage and temperature, from 2.2 to 3.6 V and from -40/spl deg/C to +85/spl deg/C and consumes 27 mW from a 2.2-V supply. The receiver has 4 dB NF.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a Hopfield like Chaotic Neural Networks which have both self-coupling and non-invertible activation functions. We show that the interactions between neurons can be used as a means of chaos generation or suppression to neuron’s outputs when more adaptability or stability is required. Furthermore, a new set of sufficient conditions based on coupling weights is proposed so that the synchronization of all neuron’s outputs with each other is guaranteed, when all neuron’s have identical activation functions. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is evaluated by performing simulations on three illustrative examples.  相似文献

Current treatment approaches to manage neuropathic pain have a slow onset and their use is largely hampered by side-effects, thus there is a significant need for finding new medications. Tolperisone, a centrally acting muscle relaxant with a favorable side effect profile, has been reported to affect ion channels, which are targets for current first-line medications in neuropathic pain. Our aim was to explore its antinociceptive potency in rats developing neuropathic pain evoked by partial sciatic nerve ligation and the mechanisms involved. Acute oral tolperisone restores both the decreased paw pressure threshold and the elevated glutamate level in cerebrospinal fluid in neuropathic rats. These effects were comparable to those of pregabalin, a first-line medication in neuropathy. Tolperisone also inhibits release of glutamate from rat brain synaptosomes primarily by blockade of voltage-dependent sodium channels, although inhibition of calcium channels may also be involved at higher concentrations. However, pregabalin fails to affect glutamate release under our present conditions, indicating a different mechanism of action. These results lay the foundation of the avenue for repurposing tolperisone as an analgesic drug to relieve neuropathic pain.  相似文献

One of the most common complications during pregnancy is gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), hyperglycemia that occurs for the first time during pregnancy. The condition is multifactorial, caused by an interaction between genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors. However, the underlying mechanisms responsible for its pathogenesis remain elusive. Moreover, in contrast to several common metabolic disorders, molecular research in GDM is lagging. It is important to recognize that GDM is still commonly diagnosed during the second trimester of pregnancy using the oral glucose tolerance test (OGGT), at a time when both a fetal and maternal pathophysiology is already present, demonstrating the increased blood glucose levels associated with exacerbated insulin resistance. Therefore, early detection of metabolic changes and associated epigenetic and genetic factors that can lead to an improved prediction of adverse pregnancy outcomes and future cardio-metabolic pathologies in GDM women and their children is imperative. Several genomic and epigenetic approaches have been used to identify the genes, genetic variants, metabolic pathways, and epigenetic modifications involved in GDM to determine its etiology. In this article, we explore these factors as well as how their functional effects may contribute to immediate and future pathologies in women with GDM and their offspring from birth to adulthood. We also discuss how these approaches contribute to the changes in different molecular pathways that contribute to the GDM pathogenesis, with a special focus on the development of insulin resistance.  相似文献

Thin silicon nitride (Si(1_x)N(x)) films were synthesized without substrate heating by means of reactive argon-ion sputtering of either silicon or a silicon nitride target in the 1000-1500-eV energy range at a nitrogen partial pressure of 1.3 × 10(-2) Pa and with simultaneous nitrogen ion-assisted bombardment in the 300-500-eV low energy range. The extinction coefficient and refractive index of the films were directly dependent on the N(+) ion-to-atom arrival ratio, assisted ion energy, film growth rate, and indicated a correlation with film stoichiometry and disorder. Si(3)N(4) films were obtained for N(+) ion/Si atom arrival ratios from 0.6 to 1.7 and for different Si:N atom arrival rates and had a refractive index as high as 2.04 (633 nm) and a low hydrogen content as indicated by IR spectra.  相似文献

The electrospinning of the biopolymer chitosan (CS) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) was investigated with 90% acetic acid as the solvent and with different CS/PVA ratios. The long chains of high‐molecular‐weight CS prevented it from forming nanofibers in a high‐voltage field. The treatment of CS under high‐temperature alkali conditions reduced its molecular weight exponentially with the treatment time and caused a reduction of the viscosity consequently. PVA, acting as a plasticizer and accompanied by the alkali‐treated CS of lower viscosity, made the electrospinning of CS/PVA blends possible. The effects of the duration of the alkali treatment on the molecular weight of CS and its viscosity were investigated and optimized. The diameter of the bicomponent nanofiber decreased proportionally with the increase in the CS portion, whereas the surface porosity increased inversely. Fourier transform infrared studies illustrated that the alkali treatment or blending of CS with PVA had no effect on its chemical nature. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. All the solar powered cookers presently available in the world market are of the so-called “Reflector Box” type. Despite the fact that they have been presented, for a good few years, to the market and are very simple and low cost they have not managed to establish any meaningful and noticeable presence in a viable commercial sense. This fact is even more in evidence in those markets they are primarily designed for. The reasons to the lack of commercial success for the reflector box type cookers are analysed in some details. The assessment of general features and performance of the reflector box type cooker led to the design of the Fast Response Storage Type Cooker presented in this paper.The new cooker is the result of combination of non-tracking compound parabolic reflector, fast response heat pipes, high-quality and low-cost thermal insulator, low-loss thermal storage battery, glass to metal seals, vacuum technology and bimetal automatic switches. It is capable of storing the solar energy during the day to facilitate cooking during the evenings and nights. A prototype is made and the performance of the elements of the system are presented. It shows how the “waste-energy” of the cooker can be used for other applications.  相似文献

It is known that epoxide-bearing compounds display pronounced pharmacological activities, and the epoxidation of natural metabolites can be a promising strategy to improve their bioactivity. Here, we report the design, synthesis and evaluation of biological properties of αO-SM and βO-SM, novel epoxides of soloxolone methyl (SM), a cyanoenone-bearing derivative of 18βH-glycyrrhetinic acid. We demonstrated that the replacement of a double-bound within the cyanoenone pharmacophore group of SM with α- and β-epoxide moieties did not abrogate the high antitumor and anti-inflammatory potentials of the triterpenoid. It was found that novel SM epoxides induced the death of tumor cells at low micromolar concentrations (IC50(24h) = 0.7–4.1 µM) via the induction of mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis, reinforced intracellular accumulation of doxorubicin in B16 melanoma cells, probably by direct interaction with key drug efflux pumps (P-glycoprotein, MRP1, MXR1), and the suppressed pro-metastatic phenotype of B16 cells, effectively inhibiting their metastasis in a murine model. Moreover, αO-SM and βO-SM hampered macrophage functionality in vitro (motility, NO production) and significantly suppressed carrageenan-induced peritonitis in vivo. Furthermore, the effect of the stereoisomerism of SM epoxides on the mentioned bioactivities and toxic profiles of these compounds in vivo were evaluated. Considering the comparable antitumor and anti-inflammatory effects of SM epoxides with SM and reference drugs (dacarbazine, dexamethasone), αO-SM and βO-SM can be considered novel promising antitumor and anti-inflammatory drug candidates.  相似文献

This study examined the effect of castration and dietary hormonal supplementation on cholesterol cholelithiasis in male hamsters. Animals fed a standard lithogenic diet developed cholesterol gallstones (17%) after 6 wk, while castrated hamsters did not form any stones. Addition of a synthetic androgen, methyltestosterone, to the lithogenic diet induced cholelithiasis in castrated animals (50%). The biles of normal and castrated-hormone supplemented hamsters had cholesterol saturation indices of 1.0 and 1.1, respectively, while the bile of the castrated animals remained unsaturated (0.6). The ratio of cholic acid/chenodeoxycholic acid in bile increased after castration, but returned to normal levels following hormonal supplementation. Biliary cholesterol carriers were separated by ultracentrifugation. Animals in the stone-forming groups (normal and castrated-hormone treated) had a significant proportion of their biliary cholesterol in vesicles (44 and 46%, respectively); castrated hamsters had less cholesterol in vesicle form (9%). The molar ratio of cholesterol/phospholipid in vesicles was reduced after castration (0.93 vs. 0.42) and increased by hormonal supplementation (1.89). In conclusion, when compared to normal male hamsters fed a standard lithogenic diet, castration reduced the cholesterol saturation of bile, lowered the vesicular/micellar ratio in bile, and inhibited cholesterol cholelithiasis. Dietary androgen supplementation increased the lithogenicity of bile, resulting in stone formation in castrated animals.  相似文献
