Trilonometric method of determination of cerium in organic compounds

Conclusions A Complexonometric method has been developed for determining cerium in organic compounds such as the acetylacetonate, benzoate, or toluate; the method is based on extraction of the cerium by hydrochloric acid and Complexonometric titration in the presence of xylenol orange indicator.The method gives good precision of results; the mean square error is +0.63% abs. or 2.21% rel. with a metal content of about 28% in the test sample.The cerium determination by this method requires not more than 20 to 30 min, in comparison with 10 h by the gravimetric method.Translated from Khimiya i Tekhnologiya Topliv i Masel, No. 6, pp. 50–52, June, 1972.
