In order to examine the effects of the fluid type as the electrolyte solvent on the efficiency of electrokinetic energy conversion, a comparative numerical study among three different fluid types of a transient electrokinetic flow through a single circular finite length microchannel has been conducted. The system was initially at an equilibrium non-flow state, and a step change in flow was applied and the calculation proceeding until steady state was achieved. The analysis was based on non-dimensional transport governing equations that were scaled using Debye length as the characteristic length scale and diffusion time as characteristic time scale. The fluid types considered were shear thinning, Newtonian, and shear thickening, and a power law modeled them with the scaled flow behavior index having values of 0.2, 1.0, and 1.8. In order to isolate the electrokinetic effects of the different relationships between the shear strain rate and shear stress, the flow consistency index was adjusted so that in all the cases the flow rate and total pressure drop matched that of water at 25 °C. All other fluid and interfacial properties were the same for all cases. The key observational difference between the various fluid types was that their different axial velocity profile acted on essential the same free charge density profiles. Consequently, the convection current density (i.e., the radial distribution of charge being advected along the channel) was strongly affected by the fluid type. Integration of this quantity to calculate the convection current showed that for the particular fluid properties chosen the shear thinning fluid was 20 % higher than the Newtonian fluid, while the shear thickening fluid was only 4 % lower than the Newtonian fluid. Combined with the effects, these different currents have on the streaming potential, the shear thinning fluid was 50 % more effective in converting flow work to electrical work than the Newtonian fluid, while the shear thickening fluid was only 16 % lower than the Newtonian fluid. 相似文献

The characterization of an optical sensor membrane is described for simultaneous determination of sulfite and sulfide ions based on the immobilization of crystal violet on a triacetylcellulose membrane. The absorbance of the membranes decreased by increasing sulfite and sulfide concentration. The partial least squares (PLS-1) calibration model based on spectrophotometric measurement for simultaneous determination of sulfite and sulfide ions was applied. This method is based on the difference between the rate of the reaction of sulfide and sulfite with membranes in pH 7.0 buffer solution and at 25 °C. The experimental calibration matrix for partial least squares (PLS-1) calibration was designed with 18 samples. The cross-validation method was used for selecting the number of factors. The results showed that simultaneous determination could be performed in the range of 200–2000 μg mL−1 (2.5–25 mmol L−1) and 80–900 μg mL−1 (2.5–28.125 mmol L−1) for sulfite and sulfide, respectively. The sensor can readily be regenerated with water and the color is fully reversible. The sensor was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of sulfide and sulfite in water samples. 相似文献

the impacts of persistent intra-seasonal drought and also to reduce flood damaging in arid and semiarid areas, rainwater storage
is a prerequisite that keeps water far from evapotranspiration, increases groundwater level and decreases flood hazards modification
to exchange between surface water and groundwater through flood spreading, dams, etc. The purpose of this paper is to delineate
and explain variations in groundwater recharge and groundwater quality along an ephemeral stream that has been modified by
flood spreading. Groundwater samples were collected from 14 deep wells located at different distances from flood spreading
projection area (FSPA) in 1 month interval during September 2005 to September 2008. Groundwater quality was followed via Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, Hco3- SO42-, Electrical Conductivity (EC) and pH measurements for two time periods between 2005 and 2008. The results show significant
impact of flood spreading in groundwater table and groundwater salinity variation. Groundwater table decreased in all study
wells, but groundwater drawdown increased by increasing the distance to FSPA (during 4 years study, 11.02 m in the well located
at 20 m of FSPA versus 38.88 in the well located at 1,825 m). Also ion concentration increased in all of the wells during

The present study deals with weak gels based on sulfonated polyacrylamide (SPA)/scleroglucan (SC)/Cr3+ with an exceptional thermal stability in electrolyte media. The rheological results showed that on increasing the SC concentration the shear viscosity and storage modulus of the SPA/SC/Cr3+ system were increased and the dependence of the storage modulus on frequency became weaker. The yield stress of the SPA/SC/Cr3+ system was higher than that of the corresponding SPA/SC system. The thermochemical stability increased with increasing relaxation time. The SPA/SC/Cr3+ semi‐interpenetrating network exhibited the lowest viscosity loss in electrolyte media; therefore this system may be a potential candidate for enhanced oil recovery applications. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

The electroreduction kinetics of silver sulfite complexes was investigated by rotation disk electrode (RDE) voltammetry, chronopotentiometry (CP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The stability constants of the silver sulfite complexes, pβ2 = 7.9 and pβ3 = 8.53 were determined. For the series of isopotential solutions investigated, a reaction order of 0.67 was obtained, the diffusion coefficient of the silver complexes varies in the range of 3.36 × 10−6 to 5.54 × 10−6 cm2 s−1 and the silver degree of complexation (2.31-2.67) were found. The analysis of the RDE, CP data and EIS spectra indicate the existence of a slow stage of the silver electrocrystallization in the region of the equilibrium potential and at stronger polarization of the electrode at initial time moments. 相似文献

The application of inertial stabilization system is to stabilize the sensor's line of sight toward a target by isolating the sensor from the disturbances induced by the operating environment. The aim of this paper is to present two axes gimbal system. The gimbals torque relationships are derived using Lagrange equation considering the base angular motion and dynamic mass unbalance. The stabilization loops are constructed with cross coupling unit utilizing proposed fuzzy PID type controller. The overall control system is simulated and validated using MATLAB. Then, the performance of proposed controller is evaluated comparing with conventional PI controller in terms of transient response analysis and quantitative study of error analysis. The simulation results obtained in different conditions prove the efficiency of the proposed fuzzy controller which offers a better response than the classical one, and improves further the transient and steady-state performance. 相似文献
