The addition of acetates and nitrates for the synthesis of single-wall carbon nanotubes via laser ablation was explored. Targets containing nominal amounts of acetates or nitrates in addition to Ni and Co catalysts were compared to a standard target containing only Ni and Co at temperatures ranging from 1000 to 1200 °C. The as produced web-like soot was characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and optical absorption spectroscopy. All samples showed a linear increase in SWCNT mean diameter with temperature; however, the rate of mean diameter change with temperature differed for the various targets, more so at lower temperatures. The addition of nitrates improved the SWCNT relative yield over all the temperatures used, whereas the inclusion of acetates improved the relative yield only at lower temperatures. The above results were discussed and analyzed according to the porous structure of the targets resulting from the decomposition of the acetates and nitrates and consequential thermal diffusion changes.  相似文献

A new algorithm for subcube assignment and decomposition is introduced to solve the fragmentation problem in hypercube (n-cube) processor allocation. The sharing density vector introduced in the prime cube graph strategy is used as a vehicle to develop the new algorithm. A bit decision table is devised to provide the key parameters for determining the decomposition. It is proven that the result of the algorithm is at least 22% better than the sharing density vector approach.<>  相似文献

The synthesis and the chemisorption from solution of a terbium bis‐phthalocyaninato complex suitable for the functionalization of lanthanum strontium manganite (LSMO) are reported. Two phosphonate groups are introduced in the double decker structure in order to allow the grafting to the ferromagnetic substrate actively used as injection electrode in organic spin valve devices. The covalent bonding of functionalized terbium bis‐phthalocyaninato system on LSMO surface preserves its molecular properties at the nanoscale. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirms the integrity of the molecules on the LSMO surface and a small magnetic hysteresis reminiscent of the typical single molecule magnet behavior of this system is detected on surface by X‐ray magnetic circular dichroism experiments. The effect of the hybrid magnetic electrode on spin polarized injection is investigated in vertical organic spin valve devices and compared to the behavior of similar spin valves embedding a single diamagnetic layer of alkyl phosphonate molecules analogously chemisorbed on LSMO. Magnetoresistance experiments have evidenced significant alterations of the magneto‐transport by the terbium bis‐phthalocyaninato complex characterized by two distinct temperature regimes, below and above 50 K, respectively.  相似文献

Capillary viscometry has been employed to measure the viscosities of dilute polymer solutions over the temperature range ‐10 to 150 °C. A Group II base oil containing 95% saturates was used as solvent for an olefin copolymer (OCP), a hydrogenated diene copolymer (HDP), and a polymethacrylate (PMA). These three polymers represent the three major families of viscosity index (VI) improvers used nowadays in lubricant formulations. Intrinsic viscosities and Huggins' constants were also determined. The thickening effects of the olefin copolymer and the hydrogenated diene copolymer were found to be higher at low temperatures (e.g., 40 °C) than at higher ones (e.g., 100 °C), which phenomenon was attributed to stronger intermolecular hydrodynamic interactions at low temperatures, as indicated by the Huggins constants. For the hydrogenated diene copolymer and the polymethacrylate polymer, the viscosity increased abruptly when the temperature went below 10 °C. This unusual observation was attributed to the crystallisation of a small fraction of the base oil. Based on the intrinsic viscosity data, it was concluded that at temperatures between 10 and 150 °C, the polymer coil dimension remains a constant for the olefin copolymer and the hydrogenated diene copolymer VI improvers, but increases with increasing temperature for the polymethacrylate VI improver.  相似文献

Researchers at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) are developing methods for characterizing diesel particulate matter in mines. Introduction of novel engine and exhaust aftertreatment technologies in underground mines is changing the nature of diesel emissions, and metrics alternative to the traditional mass-based measurements are being investigated with respect to their ability to capture changes in the properties of diesel aerosols. The emphasis is given to metrics based on measurement of number and surface area concentrations, but analysis of collected particles using electron microscopy (EM) is also employed for detailed particle characterization. To collect samples for EM analysis at remote workplaces, including mining and manufacturing facilities, NIOSH is developing portable particle samplers capable of collecting airborne nano-scale particles. This paper describes the design, construction, and testing of a prototype thermophoretic precipitator (TP) particle sampler optimized for collection of particles in the size range of 1–300 nm. The device comprises heated and cooled metal plates separated by a 0.8 mm channel through which aerosol is drawn by a pump. It weighs about 2 kg, has a total footprint of 27 × 22 cm, and the collection plate size is approximately 4 × 8 cm. Low power consumption and enhanced portability were achieved by using moderate flow rates (50–150 cm3/min) and temperature gradients (10–50 K/mm with ΔT between 8 K and 40 K). The collection efficiency of the prototype, measured with a condensation particle counter using laboratory-generated polydisperse submicrometer NaCl aerosols, ranged from 14–99%, depending on temperature gradient and flow rate. Analysis of transmission electron microscopy images of samples collected with the TP confirmed that the size distributions of collected particles determined using EM are in good agreement with those determined using a Fast Mobility Particle Sizer.

Grid computing has gained considerable attention in research and industry. High expectations are associated with the approach. However, so far only few papers have been published about the costs caused by Grid computing. In this article we pursue two main goals: to analyze the different types of costs and to determine the total costs of a resource provider. Our approach is based on the discussion of general cost categories that have to be taken into account. We give concrete numbers for the different categories and use these numbers to estimate the costs in two real life Grids: the EGEE project and the Grid of the pharmaceutical company Novartis. Organic semiconductors are emerging materials in the field of spintronics. Successful achievements include their use as a tunnel barrier in magnetoresistive tunnelling devices and as a medium for spin-polarized current in transport devices. In this paper, we give an overview of the basic concepts of spin transport in organic semiconductors and present the results obtained in the field, highlighting the open questions that have to be addressed in order to improve devices performance and reproducibility. The most challenging perspectives will be discussed and a possible evolution of organic spin devices featuring multi-functional operation is presented.  相似文献
