The demand for portable real-time optical applications such as medical optical sensors and optical transceivers instigate the need for compact optical designs. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate a new, compact design for binary spatial amplitude modulation in a mode-selective transmitter in a multimode fiber, adapted from microscopy. Results show that it is possible to retrieve the original continuous-amplitude transverse modal electric field from the binary amplitude-modulated image using a single lens. The retrieved image is in good agreement with the original image.  相似文献

Radio-over-free-space (Ro-FSO) technology is a combination of free-space optics (FSO) and radio over fiber. It plays a significant role in radio-frequency signal transmission in mobile network communication through high-speed optical carrier without any licensing and costly cables. Photonic crystal fibers also play a significant role to deliver data at faster rate for short haul communication. This paper, for the first time to the author’s best knowledge, utilizes mode division multiplexing in conjunction with solid core PCFs to transmit \(2 \times 2.5\) Gbps–5 GHz data over 2.5 km free-space link. The results are reported in terms of bit error rate, spatial profiles of received modes, mode spectrum of modes and eye diagrams. Furthermore, proposed PCF-MDM-Ro-FSO transmission system is also reported under the impact of atmospheric turbulences.  相似文献

To address the overwhelming bandwidth increase in premise backbones, an attractive alternative for selective mode excitation in multimode fiber (MMF) using solid-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is presented. The power coupling efficiency, differential mode delay, and bit-error rate performance of several structural designs of solid-core PCF waveguides are investigated for the selective excitation of mode LP01 in a MMF. The achieved coupling efficiency into mode LP01 is above 90% for PCF profiles with seven rings.  相似文献

Temporal regularity of itemset appearance can be regarded as an important criterion for measuring the interestingness of itemsets in several applications. A frequent itemset can be said to be regular-frequent in a database if it appears at a regular period. Therefore, the problem of mining a complete set of regular-frequent itemsets requires the specification of a support and a regularity threshold. However, in practice, it is often difficult for users to provide an appropriate support threshold. In addition, the use of a support threshold tends to produce a large number of regular-frequent itemsets and it might be better to ask for the number of desired results. We thus propose an efficient algorithm for mining top-k regular-frequent itemsets without setting a support threshold. Based on database partitioning and support estimation techniques, the proposed algorithm also uses a best-first search strategy with only one database scan. We then compare our algorithm with the state-of-the-art algorithms for mining top-k regular-frequent itemsets. Our experimental studies on both synthetic and real data show that our proposal achieves high performance for small and large values of k.  相似文献

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology has observed rapid growth in the world of telecommunications. VoIP offers high-rate voice services at low cost with good flexibility, typically in a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). In a voice conversation, each client works either as a sender or a receiver depending on the direction of traffic flow over the network. A VoIP technologically requires high throughput, less packet loss and a high fairness index over the network. The packets of VoIP streaming may experience drops because of competition among the different kinds of traffic flow over the network. A VoIP application is also sensitive to delays and requires voice packets to arrive on time from the sender to the receiver without any delay over a WLAN. To date, scheduling of VoIP traffic is still an unresolved problem. The objectives of this survey paper are to discuss fundamental principles of VoIP-related schedulers and identify current scheduler issues. This survey paper also identifies the importance of the scheduling techniques over WLANs. Related research work for real-time applications specifically for VoIP will also be highlighted.  相似文献

A method for realizing high-speed algorithmic analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) is presented in this paper. The realization method based on the proposed absolute function circuit, which performs a low-distortion in the transfer characteristic, is utilized. The proposed ADC is simple, small in size and suitable for implementing a high-resolution ADC. Performances of the proposed circuit are discussed in detail and confirmed through Cadence Spectre simulation results.  相似文献

In the wake of growing challenges of dispersing communication services in rural areas, Radio over Free Space (Ro-FSO) is a useful technology that can carry heterogeneous services. This work focuses on transmitting two independent channels, each carrying 2.5 Gbps data and 10 GHz radio signal, by utilizing mode-division multiplexing (MDM) of two spiral-phased Hermite Gaussian modes (HG00 and HG01) free space optical (FSO) link. It also evaluates the performance of the proposed Ro-FSO system under the impact of beam divergence and various atmospheric turbulences such as moderate fog and heavy fog.  相似文献
