The concentrations of manganese, selenium, nickel and cadmium were determined in 112 samples of molluscs belonging to mussels (Mytilus chilensis, n = 47) and limpets (Nacella deaurata, n = 65), which were collected from the coastline of the Magellan Strait, Chile. Four (6.2%) samples of limpets exceeded the maximum limits for cadmium established in Europe. Limpets showed higher mean manganese, nickel and cadmium concentrations than mussels, whilst the mean selenium concentration in mussels was higher. The consumption of one serving (100 g) of molluscs represents a considerable contribution to the dietary daily intake of selenium, and limpets make a significant contribution to the manganese and cadmium intakes. The sampling zone influenced the trace element concentrations, and different uptakes were observed between the mollusc species.  相似文献

Massively parallel architectures are mainly based on a parallel heterogeneous setup. They are composed by different computing devices that speed up specific code regions, named kernels. These kernels are usually executed offline in the corresponding devices. Porting applications to a specific heterogeneous platform is a costly task in terms of time and human resources. The key points in the porting process are the manual analysis of the source code and kernel detection. Each device of these heterogeneous platforms has their own restrictions, such as the memory allocation support. Kernels must be mapped with suitable computing devices. We introduced AKI as an automatic kernel identification and annotation tool that aims to identify potential kernels on C\(++\) sequential applications. AKI identifies those kernels that can be offlined on heterogeneous computing devices. To annotate these kernels, REPARA C++ attributes have been defined. This annotation mechanism can aid future automatic source-to-source transformation tools to facilitate the work for parallel heterogeneous platforms. AKI has been evaluated over all benchmarks included in the NAS suite. The benchmark suite incorporates a big set of realistic high performance applications. The evaluation results demonstrate that AKI is a competitive solution for identifying and annotating parallel code fragments (aka kernels).  相似文献

One of the major technological challenges for the transport sector is to cut emissions of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) simultaneously from diesel vehicles to meet future emission standards and to reduce their contribution to the pollution of ambient air. Installation of particle filters in all existing diesel vehicles (for new vehicles, the feasibility is proven) is an efficient but expensive and complicated solution; thus other short-term alternatives have been proposed. It is well known that water/diesel (W/ D) emulsions with up to 20% water can reduce PM and NOx emissions in heavy-duty (HD) engines. The amount of water that can be used in emulsions for the technically more susceptible light-duty (LD) vehicles is much lower, due to risks of impairing engine performance and durability. The present study investigates the potential emission reductions of an experimental 6% W/D emulsion with EURO-3 LD diesel vehicles in comparison to a commercial 12% W/D emulsion with a EURO-3 HD engine and to a Cerium-based combustion improver additive. For PM, the emulsions reduced the emissions with -32% for LD vehicles (mass/km) and -59% for the HD engine (mass/ kWh). However, NOx emissions remained unchanged, and emissions of other pollutants were actually increased forthe LD vehicles with +26% for hydrocarbons (HC), +18% for CO, and +25% for PM-associated benzo[a]pyrene toxicity equivalents (TEQ). In contrast, CO (-32%), TEQ (-14%), and NOx (-6%) were reduced by the emulsion for the HD engine, and only hydrocarbons were slightly increased (+16%). Whereas the Cerium-based additive was inefficient in the HD engine for all emissions except for TEQ (-39%), it markedly reduced all emissions for the LD vehicles (PM -13%, CO -18%, HC -26%, TEQ -25%) except for NOx, which remained unchanged. The presented data indicate a strong potential for reductions in PM emissions from current diesel engines by optimizing the fuel composition.  相似文献

With the development of the 6LoWPAN standard, sensors can be natively integrated into the IP world, becoming tiny information providers that are directly addressable by any Internet-connected party. To protect the information gathered by sensors from any potential attacker on the Internet, it is essential to have trustworthy real-time information about the legitimacy of every attempt to interact with a sensor. Our approach to address this issue is Ladon, a new security protocol specifically tailored to the characteristics of low capacity devices. In this paper, we study the performance of Ladon, showing that it successfully meets the requirements of the targeted environments. To that end, we evaluate the delay and energy consumption of the execution of Ladon. The obtained results show that the cost of Ladon is bounded, even in situations of high packet loss rates (20–80%) and comparable to that of other protocols that implement fewer security features.  相似文献

In this paper, we present an innovative approach to solving the mobility management problem in the context of professional private broadband networks in the vehicular scenario. These heterogeneous communication networks are commonly deployed and managed by mission-critical organisations with the aim of supporting their specific and highly demanding services. Taking advantage of the specific characteristics of these networks, we propose to solve the mobility problem at Layer 2. This way, the mobility management overhead is reduced compared to solutions that operate at Layer 3 or above and therefore, shorter handover delays and better end-to-end application performances are achieved. The core element of our proposal is an intelligent mobile switch that makes use of the services provided by the IEEE 802.21 protocol to enhance vertical or heterogeneous handover performance. To validate our approach, we have developed a prototype implementation of the designed mobile switch with IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.16 support. Using this mobile switch implementation, we have carried out a set of experiments over a real testbed and measured some key indicators to assess the mobility management process. The obtained results show that our handover strategy comfortably meets the requirements of the ITU-T Y.1541 recommendation for highly demanding applications and ITU-R report M.2134 for high-speed handover. To the best of our knowledge, our contribution is the first proposal that solves the mobility management problem at Layer 2 while addressing the multi-access technology context in the vehicular professional private network scenario.  相似文献

Leptin is a hormone produced by the adipocytes to regulate food intake and energy expenditure at the hypothalamic level. It is commonly accepted that the main determinants of leptin secretion are the net amount of body fat and the mean size of adipocytes. On the contrary, important vectors of energy flux in the organism, such as food intake and energy expended on exercise, are not thought to be regulators of that secretion. To understand whether leptin is regulated by an acute energy expenditure such as strenuous exercise, 29 male athletes who had trained for marathon running were studied before and after a marathon run and compared with 22 nonobese, age-, sex-, and body mass index (BMI)-matched sedentary controls. Controls and marathon athletes showed no differences in BMI or fat-free mass. Marathon runners showed a strong reduction in total fat mass (6.2 +/- 0.4 kg; 9.1 +/- 0.5% of body fat) compared with controls (12.3 +/- 0.5 kg; 16.1 +/- 0.5% of body fat; P < 0.05). This difference in body composition was paralleled by a mean serum leptin level that in marathonians (2.9 +/- 0.2 micrograms/L) was significantly (P < 0.05) reduced compared with that in controls (5.1 +/- 0.6 micrograms/L). It is remarkable that the ratio of leptin per kg body fat, showed a very good agreement between the two groups, 0.40 +/- 0.04 microgram/L.kg for controls and 0.46 +/- 0.03 microgram/L.kg for marathonians. In the two groups, leptin was correlated with both body weight, BMI, and fat mass (P < 0.001). The marathon trajectory was the standard 42.195 km accomplished in an average time of 3 h, 17 min, 7 s, with a calculated energy expenditure of over 2800 Cal. After the marathon run, a water imbalance occurred, with a significant decrease in body weight and an increase in serum albumin. A significant (P < 0.05) reduction in leptin values was observed after the run (2.6 +/- 0.2 micrograms/L) compared with before (2.9 +/- 0.2 micrograms/L), which was more relevant considering the relative hemoconcentration. In conclusion, 1) compared with sedentary subjects, leptin levels are reduced in male marathon runners in parallel with the relevant reduction in total body fat; 2) expressed as a ratio of leptin per kg body fat, no differences were observed between marathonians and controls; and 3) after an energy expenditure of 2800 Cal in the marathon run, a reduction in leptin levels occurred. Strong changes in energy expenditure may regulate serum leptin levels in man.  相似文献

The European Commission recently established a novel test facility for heavy-duty vehicles to enhance more sustainable transport. The facility enables the study of energy efficiency of various fuels/scenarios as well as the chemical composition of evolved exhaust emissions. Sophisticated instrumentation for real-time analysis of the gas and particulate phases of exhaust has been implemented. Thereby, gas-phase characterization was carried out by a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR; carbonyls, nitrogen-containing species, small hydrocarbons) and a resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer (REMPI-TOFMS; monocyclic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons). For analysis of the particulate phase, a high-resolution time-of-flight aerosol mass spectrometer (HR-TOF-AMS; organic matter, chloride, nitrate), a condensation particle counter (CPC; particle number), and a multiangle absorption photometer (MAAP; black carbon) were applied. In this paper, the first application of the new facility in combination with the described instruments is presented, whereby a medium-size truck was investigated by applying different driving cycles. The goal was simultaneous chemical characterization of a great variety of gaseous compounds and particulate matter in exhaust on a real-time basis. The time-resolved data allowed new approaches to view the results; for example, emission factors were normalized to time-resolved consumption of fuel and were related to emission factors evolved during high speeds. Compounds could be identified that followed the fuel consumption, others showed very different behavior. In particular, engine cold start, engine ignition (unburned fuel), and high-speed events resulted in unique emission patterns.  相似文献
